Came back from a tour of New Zealand - from 0:52 onwards looks like the South Island, going across the Southern Alps, Haast Pass or Arthur's Pass, through the Southern Alps (South Island naturally) and possibly the West Coast road onto Westport/Greymouth.

It just seems very similar to the videos and photos I took while I was driving over there - did over 6000 kms in one month there in January 2011.

Oh and I did see a main route closed in New Plymouth in the busier North Island for a race. Perhaps they closed it for a few shots, so they could drive on the other side and get the helicopter sweeping shots of the car ? Perhaps a South Islander can confirm ?
