i got a 306 1.8 with induction kit too sounds like a gti6 its quick aswell for a 1.8 iv had saxo vtrs ,mr2s and a new type civic type r up too 80mph its a rapid little car
@beatleschap: Well i never ended up getting one, got a clio now unfortunatly.... but theres bucket loads on ebay, £100 should get ya one easily for a 306 :)
ive got the exact same induction kit on a 1.5d peugeot 106 does anyone know why it doesnt sound as good as this guys one because it doesnt suck in the same.
are these hard to fit i just bought one today but people have bin goin on bout heat of the engine been taken in again and damaging it could you show maybe how you have set up yours ?
They are really easy to fit, and although mine now has a heat shield installed it will not do any damage not to have one. Hot air is not as combustable as cold air so basically you loose power if you do not shield it properly from the heat of the engine.Of course if you loose power it kinda deafeats the purpose of having one. Unless you just like the noise.
yeah, yeah, I had just fitted it when I shot this video, it does have a lovely big shield around it now to prevent heatsoak, which was surprisingly hard to come by...
I am 6'2 and a bit, but I also have big feet which is a pain on those offset pedals and it's just a bit cramped on a long journey! The new GTI is pretty sweet, but I did a back to back test with an R26.R and the Renault destroyed it! Not as comfortable as the Golf though, It's a great daily driver in the real world, A hot hatch you can happily live with. I found it really easy to get the back out on the Golf, It's quite terrifying when a car just looses it like that!
LOL Good old lift off oversteer, i love it, u need to be ready for it though and understand when it will happen. If used correctly u can realy tighten up your line with a little rotation from the rear end. Love it!
Hey Bro, I just got a Chevrolet Lacetti 1.6 hatchback, I know it's not the " Ultimate " car for doing up but was hoping you could recommend a kit? You seem to have the result i was after but i'm worried i'll not pull it off in the Lacetti.
Well, it is used on Top Gear! To be honest I dont know too much about Lacetti's but I imagine that it shares its engine with the Vauxhall Astra? Try just taking the airbox off to see how it sounds, then go get a 'Green' air filter.
Hey Bro, I fitted my air filter today.. unfortunately i coulden't get a green one, Due to my car i had to get a universal one, But i've ended up with a Ripspeed red one, It'll be fine untill i learn a little more about it. It sounds fantastic in a lacetti, But it's made my car a little sluggish, Which is odd.. Any idea why?
Some cars dont adapt well when you fit an induction kit - you have to make sure the air mass sensor is still functional with your universal kit. In some cases to really make it worthwhile you have to do an engine remap. Worth checking on a Vauxhalll forum for advice as I think a lot of Astra modders will have done this.
I got my car sorted, Now i'm just trying to perfect my sound, Do you have a muffler or a new exhaust out of interest? I mean, I've fitted it.. It sounds great but i want more of a grizzly sound, I'm not entirely sure where to go from here, I mean in Northwich we only really have Halfords, Which is where i've been shopping. Before i go getting muffler tips, Would you say that'd make a difference?
On my car I don't I had one on my previous car but it was a bit of a pain because unlike the induction kit you can always hear it and not just when you put your foot down. Muffler tips do nothing, you really need to get a new backbox, for any performance gains though it only really makes sence to fit a full system
I m adriving a Daewoo Kalos sport (before chevrolet bought them out) and i use a K&N and thats pretty sweet, plus you can clean them which i dont know about the "green" air filters, but still they sounds great.
Yeah, pain in the arse on mine too. You have to replace the rubber 'bung' that fills the hole in the glass, it's held on by a little clip and you can buy the bung and clip from Peugeot for a couple of quid. It's a fiddily pain in the arse and you have to take the doorcard off. DONT buy a second hand one though becaue the rubber perishes and that why it fails.
there is a diff in the mid range but induction kits work better on some cars than others. Diff cars make diff sounds, diesels dont''t sound too great with them!
dont you get really bad heat soak get an enclosed kit with a forced air induction that makes a huge difference i had one on my xsi pretty much the same engine same inlet etc i made my xsi into a six without changeing the engine just the internals eg cams pistons ecu and inlet
BMC CDA is the make i dunno if you have noticed that when you are at traffic lights or in a bit of traffic you go for it and just alot of induction noise? and it can be pretty sluggish when warm they cost about £50 and worth every penny
I just put k and n on my bmw 320 cai are awesome make loads of difference!

Because it's a diesel. It will never sound good, it can only sound more like a tractor unfortunatly. Buy a 1.6 petrol 106.

wow nice car man, im thinkin of gettin a 306 for a first car, how is it on petrol and reliability wise? thanks

Petrol is fine, I used to have a 1.6lx and it had loads of problems but the 1.8 XS has been almost perfect.
Only problem I have has it the electric window runners are awful. Honestly they were designed by a two year old.
mca2k 3 years ago
any fix for the windows? mine are rattling and ive had to fix them a few times now when they drop off and out of their guide
