He had an accident where he lost his little child and his wife. His book The Encyclopedia of Groove, released in 1993, is one of the best and I recommend you to check out.
god I HATE drum solos, not because he's bad, because it's just hitting things at a fast rate of speed. there is no technicality, no need for knowledge or understanding for the kit itself. JESUS!!!!
@noodledrummin1 i don't think you realize the skill and hours of practice it takes to get down a precise solid beat and rhythms and with such a huge kit.
I have to agree with Kennyplay, he was beyond great in person. The video does no justice at all. This guy was great in person. I heard he was in a bus accident so I don't know if he can play like he use to. I bought his video and I was expecting The Bobby Rock I saw at the Sam Ash Clinic in White Plains ( 1996 ) but I was a little disappointed in his video. Although, he looked very good I think he was much better in person before the accident. Great drummer!
The more color in the song, the more interesting it is. I saw him live in clinic and he fucking rules. By the way, this kit is nothing compared to Terry Bozzios kit. The main thing is, both of them know how and when to play everything they have set up. Its not there for show, its there for a reason and until you see him in a clinic tour and stop judging him on a 2 minute long clip, your words mean fuck all to people who respect him as a musician.
I saw him do a Peavey clinic years back in Reading Pa. Got his audigraph and stick. He was drinking green Spirula stuff. Real health nut! And a super kewl guy
It's a shame a talented musician like Bobby Rock had to waste his time playing with the likes of Vinnie Vincent and Nelson!!!! But, I guess the bills have to be paid!!!!!!!!
correct, at the end. This vid does not do ANY justice, the cymbals are the majoring of what you hear! Bobby is such an athelete! Major health guy. When I saw him, it was amazing, the strength and endurance he has! Very inspiring!

the only thing that BLOWS my mind here is the dramatic waste of money on this drumset. WTF like 200 drums makes you a good drummer HAHA>

Exactly!!
Having worked with the guy and knowing how he applies what he does, there's nothing there that he doesn't use.
