I have a Vista Premium x64. It is much better than any os out their. If you want you can run almost all linux os by using virtualbox or virtual pc or vmware in vista. If you got the right ram (4Gb). Fast CPU 2 Ghz, and good dedicated video card, you can run Vista smoothly, problem free. I suggest that we always need to upgrade our stuff, like the horse carriage to supercars. SEE WHAT I MEAN?
That's nice. How much did it cost you? Yes Vista is a HUGE step forward for Microsoft. They haven't had an innovative step forward in their OS department for 9 years! You can also run vista and any other OS inside any one of the virtual server platforms available for Linux (with full hypervisor). Are you aware that VMWare's flagship (ESX Server) is designed around, and installed on, an optimized Linux kernel? This is because you don't need 4GB of RAM to run the Linux Kernel (try 64MB). SWIM?
puppy linux on a 256 megs ram and 1,5 ghtzs and we have a winner. 6 years old machine fast for simple tasks and internet. i'm amazed by the fact its almost complete and it's only 95 megs on a live cd... it's awesome. (the only thing is that it doesn't support kodad easyshare printer but i dont give a ...)
hahaha you're sad if you think shitsta is a good os. every box I have built this year has had some problems with drivers in vista/7 at least linux wont fucken blue screen and restart randomly if you don't have the drivers fully installed which isn't always an option..
@ibloxProductionz yes, still running linux on all my machines with the exception of xp run as a virtual machine. Windows 7 isn't as bad as i thought it would be but its just to boring and limited, also I can't say I miss having to clean my machine and worry about what I download and what websites I visit, no malware/spyware effects me on a linux box :) The only time you will see me use windows is when a friend begs me to play a exclusive pc game other then that there is no use for windows.
@AquAcid Online Armor + Avast = 3 years no problems, EVER.
Plus it's a one time install so I don't mind :). I am a hardcore PC gamer anyway, i'd hate to switch OS everytime I wan't to game, it's just practical. Enjoy :D
@kenjigraphics LOL, youre funny! I tell you now for free, you dont ever want to run an OS virtually in Windows. Its not something I would advocate. "[Vista] ...much better than any os out there" LOL...please stop, my ribs are killing me.

Linspire costs like 15 to 20 bucks But comes with technical support. But You can find support from the entire Linux community by visiting forums. If you want something with flash & suggest that You check out Ubuntu 8.10. It totally blows vista out of the water & it's totally free ! I have it running on My system & tested it out with all the bells & whistles. Opened 15 programs, & experienced no issues. It did all this & used 50% less system resources than vista. You can't beat it for free ! :D
Why pay $50 for a version of Linux that looks almost exactly like Windows, but can't play the same games, use the same programs, or do many of the same tasks? That's why I am using Ubuntu.
Yes. Ubuntu, Xubuntu, Kubuntu, and Edubuntu are the best Linux Distributions. Depending on where you are, if you are far away from any of the locations to download, use Xubuntu. It's the fastest download.
Actually you can play windows games on Linux. They run great. Before you turn your nose up at WINE remember that "Wine Is Not an Emulator". If all you want to do with your computer is waste time playing games just know that Linux is still an option.
Well depends really i love FreeBSD myself but in certain circumstances one comes out better example server side i will use FreeBSD for a beginner *nix user i would probably give them Linux wouldn't want them to go insane haha.
yes, i'll give those beginners linux too. I love FreeBSD because it's such an "empty" system, and then you can build almost everything upon it. And i'm getting sick of people who think FreeBSD isn't good enough for the desktop, cuz I use it on the desktop AND server. Anyways, I think FreeBSD kicks every OS their ass :D
i totally agree i had an arguement with someone about freebsd they claimed that Linux was better i was like AHH NO, people piss me off when they talk shit about something they dont understand >=/.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
lol, of course, linspire is a windows rip-off and they were called lindows before, didn't you know that ? hilarious ! they're gonna be squashed because this market belongs only to microsoft and any effort of creating alternatives is futile and useless, long live microsoft and all mighty bill gates !
Is it a good idea to buy a linux? or what about Macintosh.... like i walk into Bestbuy and i see these program's linspere and Linux, and there only like 25 dollars.... and im thinking is it a good idea to install that software on my windows 95 pc that i barely use.... well becus its a windows fuckin 95. can someone help me decide?
Not really, though some games can be "emulated" through the use of programs like either Wine or Transgaming's Cedega. A google search should give you more details.
Some people mean by that that Wine must emulate each processor instruction of the Windows application. This is plain wrong. As Wine's name says: "Wine Is Not an Emulator": Wine does not emulate the Intel x86 processor. It will thus not be as slow as Wabi which, since it is not running on a x86 Intel processor, also has to emulate the processor. Windows applications that do not make system calls will run just as fast as on Windows (no more no less).
Yes you can - quite a few games like world of warcraft counterstrike with alot of other popular games. But there is some that are compatible with linux aswell. Mine as well dualboot if you are really conserned about games

At least they're not collaborating with Google on Goobuntu, since Google now wants to use embedded microphones to spy on you.
