  • You looked like you had a lot of fun putting your video together. I liked your braid styles. You should try some of the larger braid or twist styles. Thanks

  • You are a beautiful woman with beautiful hair. That is my favorite protective style too.

  • @TheYogina Thanks so much!

  • beautiful!

  • what is the song in this video.....plllleeeeaaassseeee

  • @meladyification I looked up the song info on OneTrueMedia(dot)com which is where I edited the video and added it to the slideshow. The song is called, "A la Buena si" by Osvald Chacon y Su Timba. HTH:)

  • you are so beautiful. love your hair too

  • @dandaman4love Awww...Thanks!

  • i stop using gel on my hair because it was breaking it off, but ur styles are nice good job.

  • I like individual braids but i dont understand how they are a protective hairstyle when the ends aren't tucked away?

  • @JAYLOVE4777 I use them to keep me from manipulating my hair so much. No combing or brushing for a few weeks. I keep the ends moisturized by using my spray leave-in and sealing with an oil. Thanks for watching!

  • i love the braids... but they are HELL to take out. : \

  • I love your hair.

  • lik the music!

  • Nice!!

  • I came on youtube trying to find a protective style & thanks to you i found it! but it's gonna take me foreverrrr.. im gonna do the small braids.. & split it up over the course of this week!

  • @prettyxcandy93 It takes awhile to braid it up but they're so much fun. I just took down my braids a couple weeks ago and will probably do this again in december. Thanks for watching!

  • I like the individual braids. I often do two strand twists but I think I would like to try this too.

  • @da1upatnite I like how the braids stay stretched even after washing them. They seem to last longer. Thanks for watching! :)

  • Luving the pictures..What is the name of the song playing in the background? It sounds like a song we would have on at one of my family's Panamanian parties!!

  • @shanira31 Sorry, I don't remember the name of the song.

  • I like the braids. When my grows out I'm am going to try that style.

  • Hello. Thanks for posting the video. What type of drawstring ponytail did you use?

  • @yubn2deep I used the Quick Ponytail by Outre. I ended up cutting it quite a bit. Since I Henna my hair, I don't wear it anymore because my haircolor is so different now.

  • i need to start putting my hair in protective styles.

  • If it's long enough maybe try pulling it back into a bun. I use a sock donut (learned how to make one watching youtube vids) to make it look full. Also maybe a french roll/twist where all you do is twist the hair upwards in back and pin. Search Youtube for protective styles...there are tons of videos on the subject. HTH :)

  • i never have done any protective styles, and i dont wrap my hair at night...i have 3c curls, and some other tight corkscrew curls...what is a good protective style i can do? You know, for a beginner...my hair is a few inches below my ear.

  • How long did you keep the braids in for?

  • @gaelgarciaisagod About 3 1/2 weeks...and yes, Gael Garcia is a god ;)

  • Wow your hair type looks so identical to mines its crazy

  • Good vid! cute styles!

  • you have nice hair:)

  • nice song

  • really cute!!!

  • @watchfuleye2008 Thanks!

  • you are so beautiful

  • Sooooooooo Cute. Thanks for sharing.

  • cute protective styles, esp the single braids. I may try leaving the ends out- but i feel they'll real dry. if they'll curl up- great! You can also try perm rods at the end for another look. x

  • looks fabulous

  • me encantan las canciones! what songs are these? and beautiful hair ideas! I'm newly natural (hair stretched just reaches chin length on the sides) and it's freezing in the northeast.. i've been trying to figure out how i can stay warm and cute.. thanks for the tips

  • Love the vid and the music!!! I've been wanting to try this style but don't want to spend all that time braiding my hair (really thick), but I also don't want to pay some1 4 what I probably can do myself!! Oh well, your hair is beautiful!!

  • Thank you for the comment. Last year I did my own extensions but this way is much easier. I also like that I can keep it moisturized. I'm glad you like the vid.

  • your hair is so super curly...looks great!

  • The braids are my staple style and I leave them in for 3-4 weeks with out a problem washing and conditioning weekly. Yours turned out great.

  • Thanks! How do you keep yours from getting fuzzy? Mine are ok the first 2 weeks but I end up taking them out before the 3 week mark because they get so messy. Any suggestions would be much appreciated :)

  • When washing try not to scrub hair, just smooth in product and rinse it out. After 3 weeks, gel is sometimes required to get a smoother look. I apply while my hair is stil wet, and either air dry to soak up some of the water with an old t-shirt. Hope this helps. Let me know.

  • Thanks for the tips. I'm probably manipulating it too much when I cowash. We'll see how I do the next time I braid it up :).

  • Your hair looks really great & soooo healthy! I love your individual braids.... Im gonna try that :-) How long do you usually keep them in before re-braiding or using another protective style?

  • I've been natural for 6 months so this is only my 2nd try at this technique. The first time I went for a week. This time I'm trying to go for 3 weeks. I've heard you can do it for longer if you take care of them. It looks like KinkyKurlyQueen keeps them in a while. Hers are also smaller though so that may be why. It's already snowing here in Colorado so this style is the only way I can wear a hat lol :D. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

  • FIRST of all THANK U 4 POSTING this vid:) the draw string ponytails really match ur hair texture.

i love ur hair, it has grown so much! i really like the indiv. braids, just wondering though, do u air dry or use a blow dryer ur hair 1st before braiding? how do u part the front of ur hair- did u cornrow some of the front and created a side part? do u have problems with them standing up on their own (mine wont lay flat anymore esp the ones in the front!)

i kno this is long... jus wondering! thanx!

  • I'm glad you enjoyed the vid! For the braids, my hair is easier to work with while it's damp. The front is usually dry by the time I get to it but the curl is a lot looser there. I use the brick layering effect to part the back. The front is a always a freestyle because I never no exactly what to do there. In the video, I side parted and cornrowed 1 inch back and then braided down toward my face to make it hang. They flattened out after I co-washed it. So happy to hear from you!

  • Ohhh, u make it sound so easy:) thanks 4 the reply!
