  • A friend of mine was there. He said it still sends chills down his spine to watch "Exit music for a film". I'm so fucking jealous.

  • BEST song that ever existed, from the BEST band that ever existed, performed during the BEST live performance at Glastonbury ... EPIC stuff !! The lad who uploaded this is a LEGEND :D.

  • i love how jonny awkwardly stands there...he looks so consufed haha

  • This footage looks as if it was recorded back in 70's.

    Awesome stuff

  • @nblBer thats not a good thing, many bands refused to play on TV in the 70's, someone needs to make a decent copy of this show

  • how does that relate to the fact that some people like vintage-looking footage?

  • @nblBer Ive got vintage footage of bands going back to the 60's that have better quality than this but im grateful for it all the same

  • kinda late reply (:

  • damn ed, super wah wah!

    edit: end of song :[

  • Thanks for posting this.

  • cant believe i was in year 1 at school when they did this, 13 years on, and im applying for uni and its one of the top 3 best songs ever in my view.. Im immensely happy Radiohead are a part of my life. 3rd best song ever!

  • i love the way phil comes in too early at one point (probably due to lack of monitors) and the band are able to carry on... class!

  • Simply, there monitors stopped working, they were fighting with them all night, its the sort of thing that live musicians have to fight with constantly at events like glastonbury, there not enough time to set up as well as they would at a headline show.

  • Ed's guitar part in this is one of my favorites

  • Thom: ...Or I'll explode...

[reverb unit is shaken or falls over and sounds a bit like something imploded backstage]

    Thom: ...WTF, mate?

I love how at the end, Jonny doesn't hear the synth playing, so he just starts mashing on the keys harder and harder.

  • love that song!!!!

  • though it does sound a little messed up at the end

  • arg, i like this song so much it hurts

  • this will be learned by me when i buy a guitar

  • so. awesome.

  • did colin fuck up at the end when he goes into the chorous bit? lol

  • for some reason i never listen to this song even though i love it i always think it a master piece when i hear it i would love to see other songs from this concert especially nice dream and airbag etc if any has them

  • take a doo doo pie, i love you

  • There is a perfect quality footage of this concert somewhere

  • for some reason, this song reminds me of november 1993

  • Im sorry, but no matter how horrible you believe that movie was [which I strongly disagree with your view on the movie, but that's just my opinion] it shouldn't ruin the fact that this is such a great song, you should enjoy it as much as you always have, regardless if something might have 'ruined' it

  • This isn't spam...it's the lyrics to the song, you fucktards....

  • brilliant!

    ((($2)))

  • This is my dream concert. If I could go to one place and moment in time, I'd go to this show.

  • this song is just so amazing....radiohead can pull off anything and sound just amazing...

  • cool

  • From an interview with Colin:

"The first four number were brilliant," recalls bassist Colin Greenwood. "Then Thom's monitors went, mine went, the lights went down, and the stage lights on the floor just burnt Thom's eyes out. So he couldn't see anyone, or hear anything. He started to make mistakes and miscues and nearly walked offstage, but Jonny and Ed basically talked him out of it, saying, 'Look, we've got two more songs to go'........

  • ......Thom didn't have any monitors for the encores, which is amazing. But if we'd done that a year before, we would have definitely left the stage - and out career in ruins, ha, ha, ha!"

  • our*

  • Their set in Glastonbury 97 was f'ing glorious, I would have never guessed they had such terrible technical difficulties. How they managed to pull it off, amazing!

  • sorry who's "we"?

  • Reading comprehension problems? "We" is Radiohead, obviously. Those were quotes from an interview with Colin, which I clearly indicated.

  • why does everyone on youtube get stressed, i was just asking a question

  • all except you.

  • radiohead-head dot tk... links

  • fuck me backwards... this is so good

  • Thom rocks.

  • err, when does jonny walk off stage? He doesn't, does he? He's on keyboards.

  • I love the way Thom is singing. So hot. Seriously.

  • Ubertastic!

  • put down the pipe mambuto. where's the proof behind anything you've said? oh, right. there isn't any. stop trash talking. they are rocking out. thom does not 'screw up' and jonny does not walk off stage. get facts straight plzkthxbazi

  • Ow put a plug in it you load of wannabe musos. They are just having a bit of a jam.

  • Love Jonny's "I know what I like" genesis bit

  • He misses a cue. And Thom talks about Glastonbury in the movie Meeting People is Easy and how everything went down hill from there. When he asked the lighting guy to light up the audience so that the band could see them, Thom got overwhelmed when he released there was 40,000 + fans there.

  • i think i have this exact version on an old bootleg cassette. this song is so much better live

  • best altern band in the world

  • I'd pay thousands to go back in time and experience this set. My God. Awesome.

  • God I want the TABs of what Ed's playing SO MUCH!!!

  • for those of you from the states and not really familia with the history of this performance this was the year glastonbury basically had a hurricane.water up to your eye lids.all the equipment got drenched and radiohead were severely affected.however it's down as their best gig ever.

  • the noises at 26 seconds i think is the spring reverb in the amp. must be techincal problems going on, thom doesnt look to pleased. why did jonny just stop playing and walk off?

  • I play guitar and I've seen guys shake their amp to make that sound effect during a performance (thunder or in this case co-inciding with Thom's lyrics about explosion). You are right it shakes the spring reverb. Maybe it was Ed shaking his amp?

  • Jonny stopped playing and walked off because Thom screwed up (it's very unnoticeable) and he walked off. This song performance nearly caused the break-up of the band. Thom got really upset and wanted to quit. However this performance was a big reason for Kid A/Amnesiac

  • that's ridiculously petty... damn. i hope they never break up for something like that... or anything, really. though, what business is it of mine? anyway, I think the song sounds fanfuckingtastic. of course I'm no musical genius like Jonny.

  • Where do you come by that information? I mean, it's obvious that there was a fuck-up here, but where did you hear about it almost causing a break-up?

  • reflections on Kid A

  • I am also not sure that Thom does the screwing up here. From the sound of it, Phil's clicking speeds up during the "I'm ready" part, so Phil and Colin are on a totally different page. And Jonny never walks off of the stage...what are you people talking about?

  • Mambuto, what is the source of your information? i know that in MPIE Thom talks about how washed out they were by the time they had to play Glastonbury, and how they had to play another gazzilion of these shows on OK Computer tour. that's what almost broke up the band. too much touring, and too much media attention, not a single performance. and Jonny walked off the stage? Well, maybe he had to pee. big deal.

  • I can believe what you are saying. Thom is a real highly strung guy, and he always demands perfection, even when it's not possible. :(

I think that is why Radiohead are soo damn good, in a climate where mediocrity is generously rewarded everywhere you look.

  • really well put

  • they all stopped playing. instead of ending the way it was meant to, the song just ground to a halt, thats why jonny's looking at the band a bit confused at the end. the reason jonny walks off is that thom went to leave the stage and jonny and ed followed him to try and get him back.

  • He wasn't leaving the stage he saw me and was coming to say hi because the last show i said"hey thom you never say hi anymore" so this time he was going to say hi and wasn't going to wait or take no for an answer, this time. jonny was coming to say hi too. this time

  • they all stop because the PA died...

  • Something obviously went wrong with the PA because Johnny stopped playing his usual keyboard riffs, and the massive block of noise didnt appear. To be honest the way they finished was excellent considering they were pretty much improving right at the end, and none of them knew what was going on(presumably).

  • "hmm, what's going on there 26 seconds into it?"

I dunno but for a worrying moment I thought Thom was going to have one of his fits.

  • brilliant! hmm, what's going on there 26 seconds into it?

  • i know, they could release a brilliant album from all the stuff they haven't put on all their other albums.

  • Fantastic haunting brilliant song

  • i know!!!!!!!!!!!

  • How the hell is this only a B-side?

  • Cos sometimes B-sides are better than a-sides!

  • tis a late reply but its not actually a b-side. it was on Romeo + Juliet soundtrack.

  • This is the b-side version, there was a different version of it on the R+J soundtrack.

  • great song, pretty good film as well

aparantly this was the best gig EVER so its bound to be pretty good
