Here's a big question: Are they going to ban Rum and Cokes and/or Vodka and Cokes? This is weird, very weird. Why not consider the alcoholic content, rather than the caffeine content. Caffeine is not nearly as dangerous to your body as Alcohol. Someone's being paid off.

@longhairfan the combination of the two is what the FDA is concerned about. When taken together, the drinker does not realize just how inebriated he or she may have gotten and they will often continue to drink to the point where they just pass out or become sick due to alcohol poisoning. This crap has both a high alcohol content & a high caffeine content, which makes it really deceptively dangerous to those who drink it.

@Mxyzptlk562 Haha they are concerned only about this drink.... What about Irish Cream, Kahlua (White Russian), Sambuca that have been popular for years? Or what about Caffè corretto an Italian drink where you take a shot of expresso and a shot of brandy? Moreover, almost all anti-depressants and pain killers leave you dependent on them, but the FDA isn't regulating them so harshly as this.

@sidewaysntraffic Those drinks that you mentioned don't come with the alcohol/caffeine mixtures. They can be mixed with caffeinated coffee by the consumer, but it is not prepackaged with the mixture. The consumer is still free to drink as they they wish; people are still free to be as dumb and careless as they want.

I am not going to defend the FDA because they do a spotty job overall. But on this issue I agree with them 100%.
