Methadone "works" in that it's easy to become addicted to it instead of heroin or some other opiate - yeah, it's a good substitute. Is it the best therapeutic way to treat addiction? Fuck no. Lots of people suffer when it's time to come off the methadone.
I agree that drugs aren't the cure for drug addiction. And you know I agree that drugs (legal or otherwise) can be used responsibly for medical purposes.

@nosp4rrow . But those are the people who stay on maintenance for months or years like the clinics want. But one can decide or themselves whether they go to treatment and get your dose. Onces the heroin leaves the body(2 weeks tops) then it's not been long enough for the methadone to asimilate yet so their's no withdrawal and the rest is up to you. Take responsibility for your actions.
