  • R.I.P Elvis Aaron Presley

    King of Rock and roll

    by Chuck Berry fan

  • Was this the last song he recorded? If not, which was is it?

  • Wow, great song, but there's definitely something different between this one and his other songs. I wonder what would have happend with his style in the 80s and 90s.

  • I fel sorry for the younger generation around today that never had and never will have an ELVIS in their lives. He was truly the KING.

  • Funky.

  • This song is awesome. It was Elvis last number 1 in the UK.

  • This track is the most haunting for me. Its use of synthesizers shows how close he was to my generation but sadly he never made it. He died when I was 3 months old.

  • love it

  • I still cry...what a terrible loss of a wonderful man....

  • my fave....

  • Billboard's #64 song of '77. God bless! RIP, Elvis & JD Sumner!

  • @DaveWollenberg Should have been ranked higher than it was. Up there with Burning Love.

  • @BBQFanNo1 It did peak @#18 in the weekly chart. I was talkin' in terms of the top 100 songs of '77. Have a blessed week!

  • This song always creeped me out~"all of my resistance is lying on the floor!" Yikes! Life imitates art or vice versa?

  • I wonder why Elvis left in the line "The medicine within me, no doctor could prescribe." when he took out "I take the pills to ease the pain." from the song "Good Time Charlie's Got The Blues?"

  • @kevinhof63 The medicine within him was lust not pills.

  • JD Sumner sang bass and TCB's Jerry Scheff played the bass. Apparently outside of his movie soundtrack Double Trouble in 1967 Jerry Scheff only played bass in the Elvis Presley Blvd 1976 and Moody Blue studio recordings. Norman Putnam and Dennis Linde played bass in the rest of his 70's studio recordings.

  • Did JD really hit that last note?

  • @Krazy3912 Yeah, accordin' to the Billboard book of #1 country singles, JD did hit that final note. God bless! Long live Elvis!

  • @DaveWollenberg

I got a deep voice myself. Sometimes I can hit some impressive notes depending on the weather and what I've eaten....but even so....I CANNOT hit that note.

  • this song way down was one of elvis' final hit in 1977

  • Wauw what a nice chick at 1:21

Elvis will always be the KING...

  • The master of this type of moody song no one can equal this version. With so many imitators still making a living so long after his death,it's got to tell everyone, HE WAS THE KING.

  • This was the song that really got me listening to Elvis, even though my favorite song from him is suspicious minds. When first heard it I was in complete aw when I listened to it. Great song.

  • THE KING ÄGER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Awesome :-D

  • no doctor could prescribe lyrics , is elvis tellin the truth or what.... te king was ill end of and he needed the painkillers simple rip elvis

  • Yeah i always say Elvis is way before his time thats why he is still so fresh in our minds and hearts!

  • prophetic song, gave me chills the first time i heard it. it sounds like he's actually revelling in his own dying process. Great Art.

  • Love this song!

  • everyone thinks im crazy, but this is my all time favorite song. it just makes me feel good when i listen to it. theres not many songs that make that happen. thats the way you can tell a song is great.

  • love this song and proud to be from and still in memphis, tn!

  • type in elvis presley way down lip synch on you tube and take a look at the video

  • blue vinel

  • Elvis - a beautiful man that sings like a prince. Greatest entertainer!

  • @BarbaraLois

    ...or like a king?

  • It was a hit before he died, I was 17 I know.

  • waaaaay ahead of his time.

  • i can tell hes just so relaxed singing this song . thats why hes the king

  • That was the song of a day, when I was born :)

  • me too :)

  • very good video and great song thanks for sharing

  • awesome pics awesome song and a hell of a man

  • Exactly, what a song! I love it. Way on dooooown :)

  • RedOrDead31....Exactly, To me the ONLY bad thing about this song is that it was his latest at the time of his death. Released as a single (With B-Side song Pledging My Love) on June 6, 1977. A fact that so many bring up when they try to say that that's the only reason it was a hit???? Phooey on them!! Itwas a HIT because it deserved to be!!!!!!!!

  • What a song!!! Especially that last note! Legend!

  • tahts not him singing the last note.

  • This was his last U.K. No.1 whilst he was still alive but he has had a further 3 No.1's since his death ( all in 2005 )

  • Thank you Sweet Lord for the time we had with him.

  • Great upload...........to all Elvis fans, the website called elvisandhistory (The Kin of Rock and Roll) states that this is NOT Elvis singing this song.............IT IS ELVIS SINGING 100% ....SHAME ON THAT WEBSITE FOR TELLING SUCH LIES!!!!

  • ITSELVISOK...Not Elvis singing this song???? Are you serious, They actually say that?????

    man are they dumb!!!!!!!!

  • They really did say that........SHAMEFUL !!!BUT they removed the article after the fans went after them!!! The POWER of the best fans in the world!!!

  • great song

  • I ADORE this song..........I remember I was only a small kid but I remember it well................Elvis x

  • I wish both of these great singers were still alive! They could be famous forever!

  • Beautiful bass, JD, especially the C1 at the end that later got you a Guiness World Record for lowest male vocal note back in the day!

  • Elvis,The King in Music,Forever,LELIKA

  • Another true treasure by the king...:o)

  • Elvis always in our hearts and memories one of a kind!

  • Elvis and JD what a great combination!

  • Great song...:o)

  • thumbs up to this one

  • jackie does it again.great song.great vid,thanx

  • This is one of my FAVORITE Elvis songs!!!

    Loooove it!

  • Good song

  • The thing about this guy is, he was one of many top top quality singers and groups around in the sixties. Shame i was born in 73

  • at least you were born when he was still alive. I was born in 83.

  • the last and best from the king !

  • actually the last to chart in his lifetime..while he was living the song "bubbled under" which means it didnt get into the hot 100 . The week of his death,it sped up the charts into the top 40 and onto the top of the country charts......

  • On what date was it released in the USA as a single ?

  • It definitely hit number on the Country charts while he was alive. The chart for 13th August (three days before he passesd away) showed "Way Down" at No.1. In the UK, "Way Down" was going up the pop chart from No 46 to No.42 before he died.

  • another treasure by elvis....

  • This one & Burning Love proves that in the 70s,he still had it!

  • my fav elvis song bar none, reminds me of my childhood!!!

  • This is definately one of his best songs in his last years! I love it!

  • the best ,top track, love it!!!!!!!

  • way down where the music plays !!

  • It is available on Elvis Gold Records, Vol. 5, Moody Blue, Artist of the Century, Walk a Mile in My Shoes: The Essential 70s Masters, and Elv1s 30 #1 Hits.

  • Written by Layng Martine, Jr. Elvis recorded it at Graceland on the night of October 29-30, 1976. The bass voice is J. D. Sumner. Way Down had a 17-week stay on Billboards Country chart, being #1 for one week. It peaked at #18 on the Hot 100 Chart during its 21-week stay; and reached #14 on the Easy-Listening chart. It was Elviss last #1 single in the United Kingdom, being five weeks at the top spot. It was a million seller and as the A-side to Pledging My Love.

  • @Jackiej61too had a no1 in uk since A little less conversation

  • This song was a far bigger hit for King Elvis in the United Kingdom than in the United States. This song was #1 for 5 weeks in the United Kingdom and this song peaked at #18 on the chart here in the United States. This is one of my most favorite Elvis songs ever. It's such an energetic, electric, exciting, unique and groovy song. Elvis easily has the very best rendition of it. Elvis had a voice like no other. I loved this video a whole lot, 10 Stars as always Jackie.

  • We must all miss him, I really, really like this, his last release, i've got goose bumps like crazy listening to it, I remember it in the Uk charts, he is the king!
