once upon a time, ur boy was ILL. great career that should have been even better but he has himself to blame for that, macho time! lol, but that shyt needs to stop its riddiculous that he is still fighting. HOF in my book no doubt but u just lost to saul duran bro, hangem up u WERE the man
Camacho has one of best chin in boxing, he took 300+ power punches from chavez and de la hoya and didnt get knock out... speaking of fighter who naturally could take punches.
@Megadeth72 True but what a waste of talent!! My brother and I ran into him at a Roberto Duran fight in Ft. Lauderdale in 1995 and he was actually very cool which I never would have guessed and to me personally, makes it even more sad how he pissed his career away!
Camacho won legit titles in 3 divisions and also won another 4 titles if you count some paper titles- so it gives him 7 weight classes. He NEVER has been knocked out in 87 fights and beat guys like Mancini, Ramirez, Haugen all of which are in the World Boxing Hall of fame. He also beat Duran, Rosario, and Leonard all whom are in the International boxing hall of fame. Camacho rates very high in my list of P4P.
Camacho was definetivly the fastest 130 pounder ever, potentially one of the best fighters ever, and even at half throddle became a 3 time champ.noff said.
Excellent post, been looking for this for a while.. This Camacho was a beast, but as we all know, that left hook from Rosario revealed Camacho's heart, or lack of...
@KenyattaSun7 I totally agree. Before Rosario, Camacho was and exciting, agressive boxer with outstanding hand/foot speed and fought with passion. After Rosario he was timid who didn't take chances and often moved around more than box.
True indeed.. But you know whats that's about, when the competition gets better and you're subject to get hit harder and more often, u move around instead of box and attack, hence, no heart...
@KenyattaSun7 Camacho was a beautiful boxer until that one left hook from Chapo, never the same again, although still effective, his whole style changed to being a runner after ONE LEFT HOOK!
I was never a Camacho, but I met him in Ft. lauderdale at a Roberto Duran fight and he was really cool to my brother and I. In his prime, '82-86, he was great. It's amazing that 1 left hook from Rosario completely changed his style. I remember when he knocked out John Montes Jr. in 30 seconds!
Don't know if Camacho belongs in the Hall of Fame, but he was great early in his career. Later he became gun shy and he would just run and developed the hold from behind to avoid being hit. I don't know if drugs played a role in his life, but the last hurrah was kicking Sugar Ray's ass.
Camacho, has had several problems with the justice due to the consumption of drugs, his bad habits as driver and violence at home. At the age of 16, he expired 3 months and a half in the jail in New York by theft of cars.
No doubt about that, I used to hear of him being at Latin Palace (spanish harlem) on caine...and didn't he go to jail less than a year ago? Then again thats life in spanish harlem..and its hard to get away no matter how much money you get. Early on he was nice tho..
camacho will go to the hall of fame for sure hes a 8 time world champion plus he has a record of 79 wins with just 5 loses and has never been ko and hes style of runnin thats just called boxing the art of hit without been hited back ;)
he beat rosario so u really dont kno anything.look at camacho's resume. he fought the best. he took hall of famer jose luis ramirez put a boxing clinic on the man. he couldnt even land on macho.
part of it was drugs, party, part of it was he made soo much money soo fast. and he wouldnt even trained for the fight everyone knew that in nyc.
he really didnt care at times.and the so so punch he had at 130-135 didnt carry to 140 so everybody went after him they didnt respect it.
@twintwoagain-YOU obviously dont shit about boxing! it sound`s like you are making excuses for camacho.(he was strung out,he changed his style etc.)that`s his own fuckin` fault,no one put a gun to his head and told him to do those drug`s! camacho wont be remebered as one of the all time greats.i have been involved with the fight game for years! YOU dont know shit!
to add to my last comment, you obviously dont know shit about boxing!! i dont know why they called camacho the macho man,all he did was counter and run like a pussy!
obviously u dont no shit about boxing! u never saw a prime camacho! all u c camacho drugged out hit n clinching thats not the guy im talkin about! rosario fght he changed his style!
luk camacho 2 fast 4 sal! sal was great but u guys make hm 2 be a god. he died at 24.macho strungout n all went toe to toe with prime chavez!! fought tito, dhoya all past his prime!
califas1966 - these are the same people that think Cotto shouldn't really have a loss on his record either. Or as he stupidly thinks LaPorte would have stood a prayer of a chance of winning the rematch with Sanchez, I'd have more luck winning the lottery.
Chavez became everything that Sanchez would have, plain and simple. And all anyone has to do is ask what happened to Camacho in September 1992 - classic forcefed lesson in humility. CHAVEZ CARRIED HIS SORRY ASS!
AntonioSantiago - Are you asking me how I'd do against Camacho without any technical or physical training? If so not well at all obviously. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to be able to copy Rosario, Chavez, or Reyes vs. Camacho who won 2 of the 3 and deserved to win ZERO of the 3.
AntonioSantiago - are you mentally retarded or something? When did I claim I could beat Camacho? Learn to read before typing something stupid like "ez 2say when you're not fighting him." Did I not say that I am not trained and CAN NOT compete or even survive with Camacho? He's made himself look bad dozens of times and this video is against a washed up club fighter at best so don't get too excited this performance was the exception not the rule in this so called hall of fame career.
Here is the thing: even if you were trained you'd stand no chance against Camacho. Because none of us probably would. It took highly skilled boxers to beat him.
Sure, he looked bad. He still mostly came out winning.
Your words make it clear you're the retard, not me.
Let me re-word this b/c you obviously don't understand. I am not a professional boxer and do not pretend to be. If I were I still would not promise any success vs. Camacho or anyone for that matter, its a realist point of view.
I have no idea why you're acting like I said or think I can beat any professional boxer. You're obviously a big Macho fan which I find that nickname absolutely amusing by the man's actions.
I am a big Macho fan. Im not ashamed of it. I even met him in person and he is the nicest human being you can imagine.
I have to say there were times I didnt like him as a boxer-the Howard Davis to Greg Haugen era-but overtime I've come to appreciate the boxer as well and what he meant to boxing at the time, his name being in many of the first PPV super fights.
I just disagree with people who show total disrespect to boxers like we were so better. But you are entitled to your opinion.
Antonio - I'm not a fan of Camacho but I can still appreciate 2 parts of his career, the 1st time I saw him vs. Blaine Dixon where he should not have gotten the decision to his fights with Ramirez & Rosario(1981-1986). Then the time when he looked really serious again vs. Pazienza and Baltazar (1990) b/c that Camacho would have fought Chavez a hell of lot closer than the shell did.
Antonio - 1 other thing, the Camacho in this video would have beaten Floyd Mayweather Jr. HANDS DOWN. Hell how about the whole MAyweather family for that matter. If Zab Judah gave Mayweather problems and really knocked him down, Camacho would have given as rough of a night as Castillo did and then some.
I agree - PBF would have had fits fighting this Camacho , also your spot on with your opinion of his career - he was unbeatable for a time , but then began to stink fights out with his negative approach - when he came in 1990 he redeemed himself somewhat - hears the clincher and I get hate mail for saying this - I enjoyed Camacho beating up SRL - why ? because I cant forgive Leonard and the Vegas judges for stealing haglers title - pure robbery IMO.
camacho 2 fast 4 sanchez sanchez had problems with fast boxers see da ford fight !sal barely won camacho was much faster n stronger than ford camacho speed would dazzle sanchez 8rd ko!
twint you should look up the facts before you talk shit. Patrick Ford was almost 6 feet tall and there was nothing remotely fast about him, all it was was a bad style matchup for Sal.
I just sit back and laugh at all the people who defend Camacho post Rosario when I think back to good ol September 1992 when he got almost everything he deserved. Shit shoveled down his smart ass throat for 12 GREAT rounds vs. a top 20 boxer of all time. Camacho avoided Chavez as long as he could, loved it!
laporte beat chavez!! watch da fight n dont be bias. chavez beat a strungout camacho who struggled 2 fights with haugen! know you no macho was strungout if he had tostruggle with greg!
macho never been kod tito, chavez ,hoya all in their prime! nelson 12fghts vs prime camacho woulda been blasted away! laporte 15fghts macho woulda blew him away ford vs prime macho da same !
I believe Sanchez was a true boxing prodigy. He would have knocked Camacho out early; I truly believe this because Sanchez had the heaviest hands for his class, couple this with Camacho's straight-ahead style and Sanchez would have been lie a kid in a candy store.
hahhahhac dont make me laugh macho never been kod n he fought hoya ,trinidad, chavez all in their primeswhile he wa on drugs n never kod !how da fuk a sanchez kos a prime macho!!!!
camachos speed woulda blew out sal!! shit if nelson with 12fights gave him hell. laporte 15 fights made him strugle n ford almost beat him. macho woulda picked him apart, macho never been kod!
Macho never saw a 13th, 14th or 15th round either twintwoagain. I'm not stupid enough to claim Sanchez would have KO'd Camacho when he didn't KO a lot of so so contenders. BUT when he faced the most dangerous like Gomez,Lopez, and Nelson he found a way to dominate them in the end.
BTW don't discount Nelson, Camacho wanted no part of him instead he went after the Louie Burkes of the world.
But like the owner of the video said this fight and the Ramirez fight were Camacho at his absolute best.
This was the pre-Rosario Camacho. Notice how diferent: no holding, no running away after landing combinations, no punching moving backwards At this time he was awesome.
