Well, even if there is a better player than Jordan someday, it wont really matter because Jordan was not only a great player but he reshaped the culture and history of basketball in such a way that he has become the human icon of basketball. Basketball didn't make Jordan great, Jordan made basketball great.

takes more then passion, heart, soul, and practice to be better than mike.
he was gifted, you can't say their arent athletes who dont train as hard or lack any kind of passion and arent as good. michael defined thegame for 14 years. even during the hiatus he was still what basketball was meant to be. he was in every aspect of the word, icon. no one will ever take basketball by the 'balls' like he did (pun intended).

Actually, all you have to have to be better that Jordan is hard work perseverance, work ethic, and the passion. In other words where ever you come from-the rich suburbs, the ghetto, or extreme poverty in the third world, doesn't matter. How short-how tall you are. Don't matter. If you have the passion in you soul and the and desire in your heart,(with emphasis on desire and passion)you can be the greatest. I know some kids who practice every single day-even in the rain just to get better.
