@xkruulx there are different uses for chains. there's stabilization like you mentioned w/ the chains coming completely off the ground or just accommodating resistance where weight is decreased as you bring the bar down and then as you press the weight back up weight is added to the lift and therefore makes you work harder through the lift.
I hate watching powerlifters bench, most of them are 5'4 fat as fuck with no neck and a buldging chest woth no muscle in their arms.

Don't get the point in chains if you don't lift them completely off the ground. I heard they help balance or somethin like that anyways.
