I saw this episode LIVE and it was one of the most hysterical things ever in a primetime sitcom. For its day, this show was groundbreaking, covering all the taboo stuff previously reserved for daytime. Plus it was a real "soap" unto itself. This and Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman....

Aliens and soaps go hand in hand (remember the Colbys?) so the fact that "Soap" has done this premise is genius! Richard Mulligan's abduction is TV gold. I'm surprised there are no repeat showings. If ever there's a show that deserves a rerun this is it

The aliens wanted to keep Burt. I would have stayed on their spaceship (if I was him). Because of just coming from Kentucky Fried Chicken (where I went for lunch) and observing the butch dyke bully of a manager cussing out her crew, while I am trying to relax: I would, gladly, take my chances with the aliens any day by comparison. Beam me up!

And if any of the aliens are foolhardy enough to take my place to live on this planet, dealing with b.s. (like that) I say: GO FOR IT!

I was around 12 or 13 when this first aired and the first time I seen this I was on the floor the part about the alien getting excited about the sex did it..

Part of the alien plot. When he actually manages to escape back to earth, and in the middle of talking to Mary at a diner he gets zapped back up and Mary thinks he's finally learned to disappear, and she's losing her mind.
