Who gives a crap. The band sounds very similar to a local bar band. The musicianship is not that great and maybe that's why he hasn't gone gold and hasn't reached a major headlining act by the time he is 30. That is usually what it takes to make it in the Adult Contemporary market. Personally, he has a couple of decent songs that he does when he plays acoustic, but his band is not that great. I know plenty of unknown players that can certainly outplay these guys any day of the week.
Um, I give a crap. And you seem to give a crap about proving a point that this is a "bar band". Why does this bother you so much? Did Jackie steal a gig from someone you know? And how successful are you? Do you have a gold record? This music gives me and others lots of pleasure to listen too. That is good enough for me. I don't get your need to comment about what you don't like. Go listen to what turns you on man. Why bother with the stuff that doesn't?
Why do I have to like everything? Don't I have the right to comment on anything I want to? Isn't it MY RIGHT to do so and to be completely honest?
A lot of people don't have that much in the way of an background in listening to what is out there and the thing is there are way better musicians to look up to rather this glorified bar band that probably won't be much more than they are. Go listen to something other than a "jam" band. Jam bands are usually a bunch of mediocre musicians jamming.
I don't promote myself as some Phenom like Jackie is being promoted. I don't promote myself as a World Class Drummer like Bruce Spencer, whom I know isn't that great of a player. There are way better players out there to listen to.
You can have whatever opinion you like, but you are missing the point of why this is interesting to the couple hundred people who it is interesting too... if you think there is something else we would like, or should listen too INSTEAD suggest it post a link., make a suggestion as to who is worthy. Jackie Greene makes music I enjoy - it's a simple equation.
I have plenty of videos that are in my Favorites section that anyone can certainly go to and watch.
I can also say that people shouldn't promote themselves as a World Class anything, unless they actually are.
I never promoted myself as anything but a listener and someone that appreciates high quality musicianship/music and Jackie Greene's band kinda sounds like a bar band.
Well, I've seen plenty of videos of Jackie Greene playing other cover tunes. Don't get me started on the Grateful Dead, they are more of a "jam" band which to me is just a couple of notches above a bar band, just with more money, better equipment, more drugs and more followers.
I have seen LIVE everyone from Aerosmith to Zepplin and NOTHING ever beat a good GRATEFUL DEAD concert, The Stones and Zepp came close, but back inthe day no dice..Mick Jagger playing the same set the entire tour everyshow BAH....
Really? You've seen EVERYONE? I hardly doubt you've seen EVERYONE. Plus, I don't really care what you think. The Grateful Dead is a JAM band. That's what they are considered.
Oneness - you seem to miss the point here... which is a unique "jam band" transition from Taxman into Franklin's Tower, and the shift of Jackie Greene Band into Ratdog mid jamYes, Jackie mostly does originals - in every show, like MANY other bands, he does 2-3 covers. Often he does Beatles, as does Ratdog, Phil, and Grateful Dead.. I assume this video of interest to Deadheads - if you don't like the Dead or "jam" bands I wouldn't expect this to be your thing. But for some of us it is.
Jackie's sets are 80-90% original songs. It is more likely for people to post familiar cover tunes to YouTube, so you have seen plenty. That does not mean that is all he does. Don't judge by the cover... ;-)
you can never have too many guitarists on stage :)

WOW. A couple of hundred views? Some of Jackie's videos on YouTube have only about 10 or 20 views.
Jackie doesn't have over 200 different people watching this video. The number of views is not the same thing as the number of people.
I think YOU are missing the point. Maybe you smoked something you shouldn't have.

Wow, you must be hanging out in better neighborhood bars than the rest of us....

Naw, it's by playing in them and knowing some of the band members and knowing where they actually belong.
Oneness100 2 years ago
Come on, playing cover tunes? This sounds like a over-hyped neighborhood bar band on a big stage.
Oneness100 2 years ago
This was the only cover song they played... by your logic the Grateful Dead was a bar band on a big stage because they often played covers as well...
