Saw Dmitri Hvorostovsky as Eugene Onegin & Renee Fleming as Tatyana Larina in Tchaikovsky's "Eugene Onegin" at the Met on TV in 2009. Extraordinary performances! The waltz from this opera is the world's greatest waltz.
I cannot stop listening to this beautiful piece. Thank you so much for posting frufruJ ... and thank you too for all the text. It is so nice to be able to follow what they are singing. I have a chronic lung disease and this duet is among my favorite medicine. The voices never cease to lift my spirits - on an almost daily basis!
It's the entire scene V of Act II. The first part begins with
GERMONT Madamigella Vale'ry?
VIOLETTA Son io.
and features "Pura siccome un angelo".
This part begins with "Dite alla giovine" and features "Or, imponente... Morro!". I'll add the text to the description, but I don't have a translation.
I am speechless by the vocal Perfection, the sensitive, subtle vocal colors, the fantastic phrasing -so unique and not copying of Maria Callas in anyway- and the natural physical beauty of these two singers.
@Lohengrin Are you drinking four loco ?subtle vocal colors ? Not copying Callas ? Callas sang it come scritto. All of La Flemings facil tics and modulation ? Je fatto la vomica.
