  • That is not a 2.7hp it is either a 5-7hp model numbers either HMSK70 HMSK60 HMSK50

  • @GarrettJDB It is a 2.7 HP. The engine is tiny and says 2.7 hp on the side. I also have the factory manual for it. ;)

  • @Vette31991 whats the model number?

  • @GarrettJDB '932001' 2.7HP Sno-Thro

  • @Vette31991 I'm sorry i meant the engine model number

  • @GarrettJDB Its under the electric starter button. Id have to take it off.

  • @Vette31991 oh

  • It is a 1978 model just like mine.

  • i have the same one but mine looks like shit cause i junk picked it, but i got it running perfect

  • Very nice find. They are great machines. Mine starts on the first pull. lol

  • yes, ohh and i did some research and it is a 1971

  • if you still want too know its got to be a tecumseh engine, because all snow blower engines are always tecumseh engines.

  • Briggs has been used on some snowblowers, like Toro. Tecumseh was used more on snowblowers but not exclusively.

  • You can tell by the white nameplate across the handlebars thats its a late 1970's model...1974-1979.

    nice!

  • 1978. Still runs like new. Thanks.

  • 2.7? Looks bigger, like a 5 Hp. Does it say 2.7 on the machine or engine? I am not an Ariens expert but I would like to get an older machine to work on.

  • Yeah. 2.7 HP. It works just as well as my buddies 5hp.

  • DAM. That is a great little machine.

  • One thing you might want to check on is the augers. Pull the shear pins out and put grease in the zerks until it begins to ooze out the sides, then rotate the augers on the shaft. If the auger rakes are seized to the shaft, when something gets into the auger housing the shear pins might not work and it could shear the gears in the gearbox.

  • just did that today, smooth as butter!

  • the snow u got there is nothing compared to here. we have about a foot or higher

  • not done snowing yet.

  • i have a newer one with a 8 hp it helped this weekend

  • this thing has unbelievable power for a 2.7 hp. It trudged through the end of my drive that was very thick, no problem. It does need carb work though.
