  • Speed.... Turn..... Wheelie.... Speed... Turn... Smile.. Speed.... Thumbs up from the bloat you just passed... Turn Turn Wheelie Speed........ Speed...... Brake. Stop really fast.. That is what its like on my RC8R, I Fricken love it... If you love it you will learn to deal with the bike in all conditions. I had it for 2 months now, and I put 5200 miles on it already, So if you buy one be ready to change the tire a few times a year, that big V-twin will eat them up.

  • doggy!

  • I just bought the RC8 TODAY all black stunning machine

  • @Mrsighs piccs

  • I had a 1987 Honda CBR600 F1 and road year round with it (in Kansas). It worked out fine with me! :)

  • Have you bought it yet?

  • LOL..i subb nice vid man..i like it

  • Answer is no. Your wrists would be rooted riding an rc8 all year round. 3 hours of mountain riding drills your wrists. One solution to make it comfortable. Go fast lol

  • Oops just saw the date added :P

  • What you want my friend (in my opinion as an all year hooner) is an older sports bike like the CBR600F (just before the rr's) or the older fireblades (pre 2002 ish), if I had the money that would be my year round bike (with some BT-20's or stradas or something). Keep up the vids

  • RC8 is an awesome bike \o/

  • :10 - HAhaha! No horn?

  • lol that dog was well obedient :P

  • the rc8 is an animal looking bike

  • I have had mine for 6 months now.I love the bike, but it hates city roads, snatchy throttle, heat from the exhaust and supersport settings do not make it a everyday bike for me. I had a VFR800 for six months a couple of years ago: a nice, multi purpose ride, but I never got off it with such a large smile as I do with the RC8.Ride comfort on the RC8 is incredibly enough (for me) higher than on the VFR.Also, not a "passenger" bike, unless you date a midget.

    I love it.

  • Its no KTM RC8...

  • Keep this one man! It does pretty much everuthing...

  • HAY BUD i ride a supersport all year round and dnt have trouble u do need to hange ur tires for the winter and wet season my friend coz it can get alil tricky but if im bein honest i wudnt get that bike its a pure track bike thats been made road legal wud snap ur back lol

  • Have to say the salesmans bang on,ive owned the RC8 for 12mths i love it but if the route you took on the vid is a daily trip forget the rc8,nightmare under 40mph,snatchey throttle really can be a pain in the arse in traffic!

trying not to contradict myself but i really wouldnt change the ktm for anything! it really does show you its true colours once opened up, and the rc8 must be the most upright riding posistion of all the supersports 1000 class.

  • Try a BMW K1300R,you'll either love it or hate it . Ive got a K1200R and ride it all year, similar miles to you,its nippy and comfortable....but no storage ( probably not as reliable as japanese!) Beautiful dog, those eyes!!

  • Ive got a small sports with some pretty decent roads on it. Not sure about the KTM really... Take it for an hour test ride... make it a long and mid range test run and if you get even a semi small twinge anywhere dont get it. If you can ride for like 30 mins to an hour and still feel comfortable then by all means pick it up. I would stick with a tourng bike though... Fuck these fair weather bikes... *sighs*

  • Noo, stay with the VFR.

Mainly cos if you can get the RC8 in the UK it will be more common. and wasnt your vfr imported from america? so its rare.

  • As a viewer of your videos..I would love you to get an RC8..I think it would make for fun videos...but as a fellow motorcyclist I think its not the bike you want.. Because you use your motorcycle for very practical reasons, I think the impracticality of the KTM would rear it's head pretty quickly. I think the maintenance schedule, the bikes uncomfy seating position would make you tire of it's beautiful looks, awesome handing and wicked sound..if u can afford to keep the VFR..I say go for it =)

  • well look..I went to moto shop and I sit on the bike (i really like the bike it's very nice design and everything) but I tought my balls will be smashed while braking..so if you really like the bike buy it, you'll get used of the hard seat...I'm buying R6 next year and they say that the bike is more for tracks then long rides...but I dont give a crap what they say I love this bike and I'm buying it no matter what..If you like the bike buy it...or just go to the shop and try it out ;)

  • GREAT ending........ Really made me smile that (my dog passed away last summer), he was 16. Yours has wonderful eyes ;-)

  • aww that's sad, what was his name? are you going to get another dog one day ?

  • He was called Cookie, can see him in my response video, lovly dog. No i wont get another dog till im way way older, between me & the mrs we're happy with just the 5 rescued cats............ lol ...........

  • Stick with your VFR if thats what you wanna do Dan. The RC8 and all the exotica are not meant for that sort of riding, why dont you hire one for a week and see how it goes? There very temperamental, unlike your VFR, they need lots of TLC, I'm not saying your VFR doesn't, but you know what i mean. I once had a 999, i loved it to bits, but it was in the shop more than i rode it. Just my opinion mate, you gotta make up your own mind. I think you made a wise decision getting the VFR, its bulletproof

  • cheers true, i just watched my old vid about why i chose the vfr against an r6 which has also brought me back down to earth, i love my vfr, it's just it's summer and i keep seeing so many amazing sports bikes about, thanks for the comment :)

  • of course sport touring tyres would fit, personaly I would suggest the bridgestone battleaxe. A bike mag comparison I read between my zx6r and the vfr put mine on top on comfort and the testers said they would chose the kawasaki as an all year round bike, as forthe rc8 a fella I know round my way uses his for everything commuting touring trackdays everything. I reckon sling a corbin seat on it and you'll be sorted

  • going to look up those tyres now, the rc8 seems to be a nono, maybe when i can afford it i'll get an older 600 sports or maybe chop in the dirtbike at some point against a 600, i love the zx6r also, great looking bikes :)

  • seat of KTM is really hard and motorcycle is very aggresive....so you will be in aggresive ride position & it's not good for long trips...

  • i like long trips though :( sounds like its not the bike for me, you live and learn huh :)

  • Course they will make all-weather tyres for a sports bike. Most sizes come with different options - just choose your tyres correctly.

Surely the seat is less comfortable? Some compromise there.

Be able to ride with some aggression in the rain might also have to go too! Brakes COULD (however shouldnt be as you ride a ST) be much sharper.

These things you can get used to.

As below - take it out and be critical about it. Refuse to fall in love!

  • think i'd miss being able to whizz around in the rain and winter months, thanks for the comment and advice nayth :)

  • Dan.. what ever you do dont try the RC8R.. why.. because its completely insane.. and you MUST HAVE IT!

Unfortunately its not as near as comfortable as your current bike.. most people here buy it and ride 30% road and 70% track.. But I say.. take it out for a spin.. and be critical.. then you go home and think about it..

But yeah.. it is a brilliant one of a kind bike!

(so you better get it ;) )

  • thanks for the comment and message, going to have a look on those forums anyway now as might help with some bits on the exc.

am not going for the rc8, this vid and comment has helped me make up my mind, maybe when i can afford it i'll get a fun 600 sports to play with :)

  • I think you'll find a supersport a lot less comfortable than your current bike Dan and , in the end, you'll end up a lot less happy. Supersports are more for the guy whos interested in track days than any real world riding. Thats just my opinion tho.

  • i'm glad i uploaded this video, had been thinking about it all week and the comments received have pretty much summed up what was sitting in the back of my head, thanks :)

  • A lad went around the world on an R1, modified though.

I guess if you get a sports and then proceed to shift the rear sets forward, stick a comfy seat on it, a larger screen and panniers then you might look a bit silly for not getting the Sports Tourer version. Unless of course the sports gives you something the tourer doesn't.

  • yeah, nick sanders, could you imagine doing a journey like that, would be amazing :)

  • Comfort lasts forever, style doesn't. :D

  • Best comment this week ;-)

  • i'd agree with that :)

  • agreed :)

  • I'm only up to get myself a good Facebook username!

I have an Akita (same type as your dog), he has really dark brown eyes, and he never looks at you direct but looks upwards all time like your dog does. But it's not until I see the end of your vid where the dog has such clear blue eyes that I realise how much "up" they are looking! That make any sense?

  • upload a vid of your dog, i wanna see him :)

  • lol at the war cry!

if the tyres have the same numbers.. "180/55 ZR17" then they'll fit.

Isnt the sports bike year round all about your back pains? I think thats the main thing to consider. Ive never ridden one but that is what ive always thought. So if your hard as nails, or do 15k miles broken up in no more than 30 min ride then you should get it ;)

If your commute is 1hour plus then get a goldwing (2 wheeled sofabed with a fridge and sky tv)

Let me know how you get on!

  • thanks for the comment and message, i think making this video, publishing and the comments received have helped me make up my mind :)

  • sounds like a good sensible plan! :)

    r6, ZX6r Ninja, Honda CBR600rr is nice choices :))

  • Oh i forgot to mension, i ride a sports bike all year round mostly and it's deffonatly, not the best in the winter at all... I suffer with the back end sliding out alot. It's not exactly suitable for winter riding, but can be done.

  • i would keep your honda my mate rides a vfr 400 all year round so i would stick with your honda tbh and the honda looks better tbh

  • That typical driver at the start of your video! P***es me off dumb car owners.

Anyhow, how dare you even think of part exchanging for an RC8, they're deffonatly for the summer.

  • i hate it when people do that, unfortunately it happens a lot doesn't it :(

  • Happens alot more then alot to be honest, just got to be on gaurd all the time :p
