Because it makes perfect sense for a computer tune, ram air and headers to improve your 0-60 and/or 1/4 mile times by oh about FOUR SECONDS (which is an eternity in this context) ^_^

Cool I have an 84' 944 mine is burgundy with black original cookie cutter Porsche wheels. I'm in the process of restoring it and almost done. I had the motor tuned to 200HP to the wheels no turbo about six yrs ago by a shop that races 944's but now I have to take it in for some repairs cause its leaking a little oil probably from sitting in my garage for long times (winter storage). The car only has 77000 original miles on it.

They bored the cylinders installed racing pistons racing cams, lifters, bigger injectors and 16V head. I never said it was an 8V.

I wouldnt discourage someone from owning one just because he has different taste in style, thats old person talk.. besides, that body is factory except for the rear, but its pretty easy to switch the hatch..

Where's the 163hp coming from?...my 944 booklet thing says 143hp...ive heard porsche tends to under-rate their cars factory performance and ive heard 150 from lots of people and i believe it, the car is pretty quick its no 911 or 928.. but i see 163 here and im thinking where do i get that? :) share the info?

there is a saying... a 944 is a $10k car. whether you pay it up front, or have to put the money into it is the only question.

Any one know if you can take a stock normal 944 or 944s and put a turbo in it... basically turn it into a turbo. Or would you hafta replace the engine with a turbo engine? I'm just trying to figure out because I always wanted a turbo but can't get one at the moment so seeing if I can make the conversion bit by bit.

I think its can be done but it would propably cost more than bying a turbo engine or even better an 951. Also 944 is a better candidate than 944S because of the cylinder head.

that's normal for german cars, trust me. Owners will never admit this, cause they think if they drop 100k+ on a benz or beamer it would be perfect. But far from the truth, they spent alot of time in the garage for repairs. More then POS US domestics. But still I would rather own a german car over a domestic any day.
