I'm thinking the reason why you felt a bit "off" might be due to the fact that the last gig long that you had up was for a group of cheerleaders at a local club. I'm making an assumption here, but if that's the case then going from playing for a younger audience to people that are old enough to be your grand parents is a complete 180.

When I worked in clubs, it was a bit awkward going from that to playing slow songs at the beginning of the party and so on.

just watching and thinking, what happened to the other speaker pole? i used my LED par cans to light up a dessert table in one of my past gig logs and i shined them on the wall behind the banquet table but on an angle from the floor...it was a neat effect! Italian music is always fun! good job! i had someone request the "godfather waltz" once for a mother son dance, and it seemed awkward. lol
