Hey MOPmember, souls are saved at Mosaic. God is present at Mosaic. God uses Erwin McManus to speak into lives all over the world. It is a bummer that you were hurt, but if you and your MOP group put as much effort into seeking and saving the lost as you do into warning others about the "Evils of Mosaic" this world would be a far better place. Please get over it. Every ministry is imperfect and is made up by imperfect people just like you me and Erwin.
I think what Mosaic does as well as so many other churches is to understand that and to reach out to people in a way that they can relate to. I wish the church would stop being so condemning of other churches and the religiosity of being a Christian and just learn to live and love the way Jesus did.
Jesus, in His own ministry, taught people through parables because it was easier to relate to for them than to try to wrap their heads around an all-encompassing God who is bigger than our minds have a capacity to know. So he brought it down to a level that they could connect with.
The truth is that people connect to God in different ways. It may be easy for someone to understand God through reading the Bible or hearing a message but for others, they can feel God stirring inside them through the lyrics of a song or the message behind a drama or through the imagery of a painting. God is in everything so God can be seen in anything.
"My goal is to destroy Christianity as a world religion and be a recatalyst for the movement of Jesus Christ," McManus, author of a new book called The Barbarian Way, said in a telephone interview. "Some people are upset with me because it sounds like I'm anti-Christian. I think they might be right."—Erwin McManus, from The Barbarian Way
No, they are not saying that at all. They are saying that through the arts you can get someones attention...like Jeus did. There is nothing wrong with that unless you are simply trying to have a lot of people, which he is not.
