  • WOW. fucking awesome man! all in one take, completely right on on the lyrics. Ive watched a few of your vids and this is my favorite so far. posting to my facebook for my friends to enjoy.

    peace

  • Really I don't know how you worked that out but it was sexellent.

  • Scrumbulescent!!!!!!!!

  • holy Sh*t. That's incredible dude. complex as hell.

  • This is awesome.

  • not bad man, but next you play, try it with an electric guitar. the best way to play any song is with the electric guitar.

  • @washingtonjournal

I disagree. The BEST way is on the trombone. A BESTER way is on the electric trombone. Have you heard Dave Matthews play the more bester version of Esther on the electric trombone? That's the way he composed this song, you know.

  • Awesome cover - great musicianship and the timbre of your voice nails the mood of the song.

  • great job! where do u get the sheet music from? mine is strangedesign org but it kinda blows

  • @xCRBxgreenlungs

    Hi there...

Thanks for watching the video. I mostly play by ear, although I have heard good things about Emil's tabs. Check them out and let me know what you think.

    David

  • very very very good job!!

  • oh my freaking god that was amazing

  • Good guitar playing, terrible voice.... sounds like a 12-year-old going through puberty.

  • @asocinski Boo!

  • @sneakypower I've seen almost all your videos bro, and you are obviously an amazing musician. Keep up teh good work!

  • @Bing42 This is a super nice thing to say. I appreciate it a lot.

    Be well.

    David

  • @asocinski

I disagree. I think his voice is very accurate for this song. And to play and sing this song all the way through takes talent. SneakyPower fn rocks...kick azz job man..

  • @HDiscourse Okay. I'm not saying it doesn't take talent. I just don't think he has a good voice.

  • @asocinski

I disagree. His voice is very accurate for this song. And to play and sing this song all the way through takes talent. SneakyPower FN Rocks. Kick Azz job man...Peace

  • wow...you rock dude!!!!! teach me in your ways

  • You look like Liam Neeson. some very Jedi and KwaiGon Jin about yer beard.

  • @DharmaDog215 Hopefully you meant "Liam Neeson, but 20 years younger???"

  • @sneakypower Yes, yes, but distinguished of course. You should re-record that wearing a Jedi robe. Maybe a sticker on yer guitar that says "I brake for Wookie chicks".

  • sux

  • All of your videos are very impressive. It's some of the most, nay, the most consistently accurate sounding Phish covers I've ever heard. One of the shows in June there where some people were playing Phish tunes in the lot (got to sit in with them) and I couldn't help but think...I wish the sneakypower guy was here playing too, it would truly be an honor. Peace man, please keep posting Phish tunes and of course originals of yours.

  • @MarcoGreenberg

Thanks a lot MarcoGreenberg. I would love to jam with you--let me know if you're ever in Tucson, AZ or if you are going to be at the Greek shows next month??? We can definitely make that jam happen!!!! I haven't posted anything in a long time but I have about a dozen songs ready to go when I get the chance. I have an itch so it may be soon. Keep in touch.

    David

  • Wonderfully done man!

  • Carry on my good man.

  • wow man thats an awesome job. i love that song too.

  • Where is the tab for this I NEED TO LEARN IT

  • Great job man! Do you have the tab to this? The only tab I can find sounds right but requires some serious stretching. I don't know if my fingers can make it.

  • This is awesome dude. Seriously.

  • Awesome. You even invoked my "WOOOOO!" at 3:20. I was so stoked when they closed F8 with this.

  • Thanks...Woo back at you. I will be posting a video called "Faces and Places of Festival 8" in a few weeks. Perhaps you're in it? Check back!

  • dude, this is great. i've been trying to figure out this song for a couple weeks now. What chord is the arpeggio at 1:59 in?

  • or based around, anyways

  • ...I'm not sure I play it right, but it's based off of a D minor arpeggio with a few of the chord extensions thrown in there...definitely a 7th and an 11th. I'm playing a sequenced "hybrid" of a D minor arpeggio/ pentatonic scale. Does that help at all? Thanks for the nice words.

    DH

  • absolutely SLAYING this song... i am most impressed. right on kind sir. ditto on the ol k-zoo

  • really well done man, great job! i love this tune and you play it well my phriend!!

  • Wow, solid!!!

  • Well done

  • dit is echt kut

  • Danka schoen (I think?!!)

  • you nailed all those chord changes.... and there's a f-ck load!

  • nicely done... you can almost hear the solo ringing out over your chords

  • I sometimes regret that I didn't have a kazoo on hand for that great solo...I think I could have nailed it!!!

  • This is the first "big" Phish song I learned...I definitely think it's underrated and certainly underperformed. Keep in touch.

    David

  • epic. probably one of my favorite phish stories.

  • Niiiice. Sounds great...

  • Well done!

  • Awesome.... I want to learn the piano for this.. amazing

  • im sitting in front of my computer jamming out like i would if i was listening to phish.

    you rock man

  • nicely done my friend

  • It's good, but it lacks that something which accompaniment provides, that comes around when the more obscure chords are played.

  • I guess that's that price you pay for a solo acoustic version of Esther.

  • i came at about 2:00

  • This shows that you are a better musician that Phix. You should find a drummer pianist, and bassist and make money. This is absolutely amazing talent. Notice how Trey ignored this post-hiatus. That's cause the song is hard to play and you make it look do-able. Your best yet!

  • Very kind of you to say--I've never heard Phix but I'm curious to know what they're about! Also, I just posted an acoustic You Enjoy Myself 3 days ago. Please check it out let me know what you think.

    David

  • That is a huge compliment. Thank you very much and keep on listening. There's a lot more to come.

  • no solo?

  • really good... I think I'm gonna experiment and see if i can't learn that song by watching you a couple more times

  • all you need is the "ooh ah"s

  • Ooh, ah!

  • holy cow, Dave. while you're at bringing us mesmerizing renditions of obscure phish songs, how about DESTINY UNBOUND, because hearing you play it is probably the only chance us 'heads will ever have of experiencing that song as close to Trey as Trey could do it. or maybe a Faht Papyrus? ;-)

  • thats awesome bro. lets see a rendition of divided sky!

  • Believe me...That's on the priority list!!!

    Thanks for the comment.

  • is that a yamaha fg? because it looks so much like mine

  • Thanks for watching. It's a Martin D-35.

  • Outstanding Dave.

  • Never thought I'd see the day. Well done brother.

  • great rendition! excellent guitar playin'

    5stars*****

    G

  • well played!

    (of course!)

  • Been waitin for somethin like this

Keep pick'n and a grinnin' brothea, youtube needs more musicians of your caliber

    Namaste
