all of you shut the hell up, CJ is the best damn receiver in the league, he is a freak, 6'5 240 and runs 4.35 alon with a 43 inch vertical, name one player who can cover him..... noone, he is like lebron, and just like lebron couldn't lead his team to a champ his first year, in football one man can't do it all, if you judge him based on the lions fuck-ups you are a damn retard, he is gonna break all receiving records and be the best receiver of all time, now shut the hell up
@nvmaddog The most overated player Ive ever seen is Revis. Why all the sudden are people all about that guy? Its the media who does it, it has to be. I dont get it at all. Hes good but people act like he is absolutely unstoppable
@Steelershaterforlife You and I obviously have a lot in common and your name says it all. I would much rather have nnamdi asomugha, or even cromartie compared to this one hit wonder.
@nvmaddog Yea man I hear that. The media comes out with the "best corner" all the time and people buy into it. I guess Asomugha lost all his skill the last 2 years cause thats all anyone ever talked about till Revis came into the league ha. 2 yrs ago, Gruden said Revis was the best corner in the NFL on MNF. I KNEW right then an there that people would automatically start saying that an sure enough, thats what happened. Next year it will be someone else thats "the best". Its ridiculous
I agree, Crabtree has the POTENTIAL to be great, but until he actually gets onto the field, and starts playing in the NFL, he's still a tad behind CJ, or Moss.
What I think is that CJ was CREATED to prove that Goodell's rules are bullshit, about contact at the line of scrimmage :P
You NEED to be able to get in there, and at least slow him down, because if he gets his hands up there, nothing most defensive backs can throw at him is going to knock that ball loose :p
I've seen live footage and a Pre-Season with him in it. He has better hand strength, and strong enough legs to pull away from linebackers in training camp and college. If he fixes his style to sideline/slant or deep/sideline then he will be a randy moss. He has had plenty of this type of catches.
2007- The 34-point touchdown vs OU
2007- Tieing TD in the Gator bowl.
2008- Game winning touchdown vs Texas
2008- One foot, One Hand TD catch vs Oklahoma state.
Crabtree has nothing on Calvin. Andre Johnson is my favorite receiver in the league and Fitzgerald is a damn good too but I think CJ might be the most gifted receiver in the league. He has at least an inch on Dre, is a step faster than Fitzgerald, and can I'm sure he can out-jump both of them. The guy is the definition of "freak".
Damn dude he was talking about Randy in College when he was at Marshall and he's right Randy Moss was good in college no doubt but when you look at Calvin Johnson then you gotta admit that Calvin was better. Not to mention that Moss had Chad Pennington throwing to him in college. Pennington compared to Reggie ball is no contest. Reggie Ball sucked. So we can only imagine what Clavin would have done with a Matt Leinart when he was at USC or a Phillip Rivers?????
Calvins prob the most talented receiver in the NFL right now. Hes 6'5 with amazing hands, runs the 40 yard dash at 4.35s and has a vertical of 45'+. which is a crazy combination of hands, speed, athleticisim. Dont forget he lead the league with Fitzgerald with 12 TDs and he did it with 3 different QBs!!
4.35 against 4.33. Calvin is only a lil slower than reggie...If Calvin was 40 lbs lighter, i believe he could run near the 4.2 range. That receiver is a beast and i think he could really be the next Randy Moss!
That's what I mean, though. 0.2 seconds would mean Calvin's barely a step behind Bush, if they were running side-by-side. For a 240-270 pound guy, that's incredible.
maybe calvin is better....im willing to say that calvin is still getting better and has yet to reach his prime...if he can resist injury calvins prime might be better then moss'. also dont forget moss always had talent around him (except for the short time in oakland) and cj has very lil experienced talent
moss has Brady. Calvin has Kitna and coulpepper. moss is also a lot older the johnson. tru cj might not be better now but if he had a good team he can be in the future
Now thats an unfair comparison because after all Randy has been in the league longer. If you were paying attention you would see that Lee Corson and Kirk Herbstreit were comparing him to Randy Moss when he was in College and I agree Calvin was better then Randy in College. Speed wise they were even and big play ability was even too. But when it came to the hands Calvin has Randy beat right there. Calvin has some great fucking hands.
Are you foreal.. dont get me wrong calvin can play with the best of them.. But if you can openly say calvin has better hands than randy u do not watch football
Dude you got the nerve to comment that I don't know football. Let me ask you something genius? Have you ever seen Randy Mossy make a one handed catch that was thrown behind him while in mid air???? Fuck no! Because if you did it would be on one of his highlights. Clavin Johnson did. All you have to look up Clavin's catch on here and see for yourself. The man has hands like a catchers mitt! Learn what you're talking about before you open your mouth.
ok..i guess u get mad easy.. but i now know u really dont know what u r talking about.. U just judged calvin as a better pass catcher off one high light.. randy moss is the best reciver in football and has more consistent hands in and of routes than calvin... oh yeah college high lights dont count.. the nfl is a whole diff ball game
bucknasty478, Calvin Johnson has done nothing in the NFL compared to Randy Moss in the NFL. In the words of Lil' Wayne, "My criteria compared to your career just isn't fair..." Calvin Johnson is a tremendous talent and he was an amazing receiver in college. Trust me...I know. I live in Atlanta. But, to say that Moss isn't even in his league is laughable. When you break the single-season record for TD receptions in a season, you are officially the shit. Calvin has nothing on Moss at this point.
im a huge moss fan but moss will never be that good i watched calvin every week for 3 years ive seen him do shit moss only dreams about he can any route play any reciever including slot(something moss cant and wont docause hes scared to go over the middle)
nice catch. im a wolfpack fan and i was at the GT game where he made that behind the back one handed grab a few years ago. not exactly a fan lol, but that guy was sick
Even though Calvin Johnson's numbers weren't historical, if he had a QB that was capable of playing at the high school level, then he would have been considered a clear-cut choice for the ultimate college receiver at least for this decade.
great recivers can be productive even without a qb to throw to them, thats what makes them good, not the people around them. they have to be able to make plays by themselves
the best reciver n league history my ass jerry rice ring a bell terrell owens ring a bell marvin harrison randy moss insnt even in my top 50 the best reciver ha my ass
Randy moss is clearly the best reciever in league history. he might not have good stats the last 3 seasons bc he don't got a QB to throw to him. but he got everything speed, jump, hands, skill he better than jerry rice. rice is only considered the best bc he had good QB's throw to him and he been playing for like 20 years. i bet if moss had a good qb and played for 20 seasons ppl would be like jerry rice who?
What u just said blackhawk is completely untrue. I will give it to u that randy moss is more talented than jerry rice was but it's all about the work ethic. Randy Moss has a terrible work ethic he doesn't go across the middle and he stops trying when he doesn't get the ball. Jerry Rice had none of those problems making him the better of the two.
Moss, Vick, and Hershel are the best three athletes (not talents) ever in the NFL at their respected position. Bo Jackson got caught from behind and Hershel never did. However, I understand that Bo was probably more versatile (2 sport athlete, like Deion) which doesn't per se make him more athletic as far as I see it-we are in fact only talking in a football sense.
Randy moss is not the best athlete ever to play in the NFL, thats retarded. Barry Sanders, Deion Sanders, or Bo Jackson could destroy Randy in term of athleticism
Im not gonna compare him to randy moss. All i know is that cj will make his team a hell of a lot better wherever he goes and he will be able to rip apart d's. Who was/ will be better in thier prime or collage? who cares, you cant judge guys by thier collage play. Look at new orleans colston and im not gonna guess the prime
1. Moss played for Marshall. They played who exactly? Sure, those highlights of him running wild through crappy secondaries are cute, but not impressive. 2. Moss has a shitty attitude, pretty much all the time. He takes plays off. CJ doesn't. 3. Moss had an NFL quarterback in Pennington. CJ had Reggie Ball. Done and done.
Randy Moss caught 55 TDs in 2 years at Marshall. The only thing Johnson does better than Moss (on the field) is that he's bigger and stronger. Every aspect of Moss' game is/was better.
First, Moss played for Marshall. Anyone who scores a lot against the defenses they play really doesn't impress me. In fact, in Moss's freshman year, Marshall was a D-II school. CJ was doubled the majority of the time, usually by quality defensive backs. Second, "every aspect"? Like Moss's wonderful attitude toward the game? Taking plays off? CJ is simply a freakish combo of the best parts of T.O. and Moss, minus the bad attitude.
CJ when doubled was shut down. Merriweather alone kept him to 2 catches when they played the U. CJ isn't as good as people make him to be. Sure he's tall, fast, good work ethic, but that doesn't mean anything since he hasnt played a down of NFL football.
Yeah, so Calvin was doubled in this highlight smart guy. The only time Calvin didn't play well is when his quarterback didn't throw him the ball. This dude was regularly double teamed, made his best catches in those circumstances. Those 2 catches against the U? Yeah, both spectacular.

First thing Randy Moss played aganist horrible defenses in college, Calvin Johnson actually played aganist NFL level DB's in the ACC. Randy Moss is a one trick pony, speed. Randy is faster than Calvin, but he doesn't go over the middle, has a bad attitude and a bad work ethic. I'll take Calvin over Randy any day.
mranderson642 55 tds in DII is nothing compared to 28 tds over 3 years in the ACC (the toughest Defensive conference in DI ) and nearly 3000 yards in the toughest conferenc in terms of D. Randy moss DII and then the MAC ( tougher but not by much). Calvin is also a terrific finsiher he can burn most defenses and could have been found open on virtually every play, not to mention tech had a major running back (top in the conference) and another great Wr in JJ
If Oakland passes up on Calvin Johnson, Detroit Lions GM Matt Millen may have to draft another wide receiver in the first round in Calvin Johnson.
Johnson will almost certainly be a better NFL receiver than Mike Williams and Charles Rogers. Williams and Rogers were two receivers previously picked in the first round by Millen.

Did you hear Corso: Randy Moss was never this close. Calvin has way better hands than Randy (my opinion)

I dont understand how any team would pass on him. I think he is going to be one the best receivers evers in the NFL.
