I was the first person to see and hear of the band Saxon in my home town of Salem, OR! I seen them when they opened up for Cheap Trick on Dream Police tour/Strong Arm of The law. Came home bought the Record, showed it to all of my friends, and they all went crazy over it. Seen them a total of 5 times and met all the band when they performed here in Salem w/Accept and Heavy Pettin. Got the privilege of talking with lead guitarist Paul Quinn for 15 minutes.
Seen The Mighty SAXON 3 times. First time with Fastway, Saxon and Iron Maiden early 80's. Second time they headlined at the Hollywood Palladium in LA, CA. early 80's. third time in Redondo Beach, CA. small club early 90's. The Mighty SAXON is so under rated in the States. I have tickets for there up an coming gig at The Key Club in West Hollywood, CA. on 9/28/11. I will not miss it for the world. SICK right \m/ ?

history book barely if at all make any mention of the assassination of William Mc Kinley. you hear more about the attempt on reagan than the fact that zachary taylor may have been poisoned by the gov't or about William Henry Harrison, who died a month into his 1st term.

Spinal Tap based their bass player off of Steve Dawson...it's true. Do some research on that! But yes they are the real spinal tap but 100 times better and are still rocking today...I miss Steve And Graham but i love the new saxon too... ODS saxon are also good. Must have been '83 as UFO were on the Making Contact tour, and Lizzy were on the Thunder and Lightning with new guitarist John Sykes. Great live band.
Saxon were a great band. Their only problem was that they looked like they were on a reunion tour when they were in their prime! Great band, should have been way bigger!

Yes sir. The Long Beach Arena IS the house of metal, and on the '83 tour at least, Saxon carried the day. This song doesn't sound a bit dated; soulful as hell.
Long Beach Arena is definitely one of the greatest in the world. I went there from Portland for the first time in Feb.85 to see two sold out Deep Purple shows and it started everything for me and travelling to shows.

The lyrics arent cheesey. They tell a good story. What makes these guys so good is thier ability to capture that thick Marshall sound out of thier amps and onto vynl. (back in the day) Also the harmonies of the guitar players really made the music grove. The drums on this song really drive the song home. The beat rocks with a metal heart!!

Great song, lyrics are a bit weak and cheesy, but that's what you get with most Saxon songs. Saw them at the Hammersmith Odeon in '81 or '82 and they were awesome. I haven't heard this song for a decade or more since my wife made me get rid of a lot of my metal LP's - they'd probably be worth a fortune nowadays.

Mystifier. Steve Dawson has a Pine Warehouse/business in Rotherham. We got a full compliment of stuff from him for our wedding in 1994, it's damn good stuff....just like their materiel. Seen them 3 times in the 80's and will def be there on the next one!

The clothes are very 80's and do look a bit glam as did most metal bands of the day. Exmple Scorpions. Striped spandex and big hair. Twisted sister were GLAM. Saxons muzic was never glam but with Biff wearing all white and the headbands and red loverboy looking pants they could have eaxily been mistaken for a glam band if one didnt hear the music and just saw this video. They look completely metalnow intheir old age.Black leather and long hair. They still rock.

The lyrics arent cheesey. They tell a good story. What makes these guys so good is thier ability to capture that thick Marshall sound out of thier amps and onto vynl. (back in the day) Also the harmonies of the guitar players really made the music grove. The drums on this song really drive the song home. The beat rocks with a metal heart!!

You think "A young man's life was thrown away" referring to the president of the U.S., (not the clerk at a convenience store or some kid on a motorcycle) isn't a cheesy line? I guess we differ as to our interpretation of the word "cheesy." I'd think we'd all agree, though, that their lyrics take a distant third place behind their songwriting and musicianship.

Great song, lyrics are a bit weak and cheesy, but that's what you get with most Saxon songs. Saw them at the Hammersmith Odeon in '81 or '82 and they were awesome. I haven't heard this song for a decade or more since my wife made me get rid of a lot of my metal LP's - they'd probably be worth a fortune nowadays.

Mystifier. Steve Dawson has a Pine Warehouse/business in Rotherham. We got a full compliment of stuff from him for our wedding in 1994, it's damn good stuff....just like their materiel. Seen them 3 times in the 80's and will def be there on the next one!

The clothes are very 80's and do look a bit glam as did most metal bands of the day. Exmple Scorpions. Striped spandex and big hair. Twisted sister were GLAM. Saxons muzic was never glam but with Biff wearing all white and the headbands and red loverboy looking pants they could have eaxily been mistaken for a glam band if one didnt hear the music and just saw this video. They look completely metalnow intheir old age.Black leather and long hair. They still rock.

It´s a brilliant track from a great band. On the lyrical side Saxon was one of the best bands of the NWOBHM and this is in my humble opinion their Masterpiece!

you have to understand that the term glam describes the style and the appearance, not the music. glam metal's sound is basically hard rock, heavy metal and some pop metal. when i said glam metal i meant this amazing appearance you see at this video

I have to back ajsz08 on this one, unhappy Frenchy does knock every Saxon video on YouTube. This guy has Billy Idol and Tom Waits stored in his favorites, he's obviously at the wrong show here. I couldn't imagine watching Tom Waits videos all day and leaving neg. comments. Frenchy is sad and unhappy in life and he seems to use YouTube as a way to vent his anger. dont be fooled by this performance or their clothing, this was in spain 1985 bad management tried to get them to appeal to the mtv and usa bubblegum rock market, but saxon rock harder now in 2008 than they ever did theyr still one of the hottest live bands on the planet, new album out in a few months, listen to their lionheart cd , you will know what i mean then, amazing metal band.
