@zencookieful It's been on my to-do list for a while now to do a comparison between taping & lotion or vaseline/chapstick etc, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. Aside from the fact that it seems like it would be very messy, several viewers have told me that they can leave a residue in the water that makes it harder to do the next designs, which is why I've stuck with tape so far =)
@xokaye123 the package may not actually say orange sticks on it, I think the ones I use just say nails sticks or something & I get them at target, but you can use anything with a fine point =)
A really good black and white is from "10 Professional Nail Lacquer". It's not sold everywhere but the black stays black and doesn't gray out at all (unless you mix it too much). And an easy way to get the extra polish off the water is to blow on it while your nail is in there, and then use a qtip or something to roll it off :)
Umm i was just wondering about that tape u put on ur finger... do u put tht on ur nails too???? i tried it but it didnt work out exactly righht... mayb becuz i put the tape on my nail... wht is the tape u use??? thnks was an awesome video..
@shekahprasad just around the nail, to keep the polish off your ski - it' just plain scotxh tape you can check out the taping tutorial under the Tips & Tricks playlist in the information box to see how I apply it =)
I was also wondering what the orange stick is. I want to thank you. I have psoriasis under my nails and they look awful without paint. This way I can keep them polished AND cute in a short amount of time. THANKS
@tarantula9200 an orange stick is a wooden manicure tool, basically a long pointy stick like a big toothpick – you can use anything with a fine point =)
@tarantula9200 If you're having trouble finding orange sticks, I recommend picking up kebab skewers (that's what I use when I marble - you can usually find them at the grocery store). A lot of people use toothpicks, but I find them too small to work with.
@cindyrocks222 they’re available most places that sell polish, usually stocked near the files & clippers =) filtered water plays a big part, also not all colors work
When I use my orange stick to pull the design, it just starts picking up the polish, How does yours not do that? Also, how do you get your water room temp?
@dialgadiamond1990 It sounds like the polish is starting to dry – you either have to work faster or find colors that dry slower - every one is different =) our brita pitcher is always on the counter so I don't really have to wait, but I usually just recommend you leave you water out where you'll be working for an hour or so
@alicelovesherjasper1 there really isn't a best brand, every color is different in the water & it just takes a lot of trial & error to find the ones that work well – the colors I use are always listed in the information box. You want one with good pigmentation, maybe a little on the thick side but thin enough to drip & above all slow-drying. my nails are natural =)
mine doesn't disperse :( my water is room temperature, and i don't hesitate in case it dries, but it just becomes a blob ! does anyone know why this happens ?
@greekhunni Are you using filtered water? Also keep in mind that not all polish works - the brand doesn't really matter but every color is different in the water & it just takes a lot of trial & error to find the ones that work well. You want one with good pigmentation, maybe a little on the thick side but thin enough to drip & above all slow-drying. HTH =)
i tried water marbling for first time yesterday and i am actually very hapy with the design you teached me how to make those amazing designs i am definitely subscribing!!!
@ReEsEsPiEcEs815 every polish dries at a different speed & those that dry fast just aren't very good for marbling - if you can't work any quicker then you have to find colors that dry slower =) Also make sure there's not a fan or anything creating a draft on the water as that can make the polish dry faster
@thebestlanyardmaker Are you using room temperature filtered water? Also keep in mind that not all polish works - the brand doesn't really matter but every color is different in the water & it just takes a lot of trial & error to find the ones that work well. i've tried water marbeling before and everything spread fine, buy my first layer of color was like a skin on the water. when i tried to draw my design, it just fell apart.
Does the nail polish have to be really opaque and thick to spread good? Or thin? I know it depends on the water and cup but I have that settled already
hi Colette! You know,,.. this don't works on my nails :( But you make it look so easy!! Do you have som tips for me ? Because when i pull my finger out , i get all little bubbles on my nails! :(
@gewoonarijana My 3 main tips to prevent bubbles would be: make sure there are none in the polish before you dip you nail (you can pop those), dip in & out slowly, and make sure to get rid of any water drops on your nail - if they won't drip or shake off, you can use the corner of a paper towel to absorb them. HTH =)
@EmiliexXxRiise it works on shorter nails also, you just get less of the design, so it's very important where you dip your nail - check out my short nails marble with my mom as hand model for some tips =)
@gabrielafcsal Eu não tenho um script quando faço meus vídeos, eu só falar meu caminho através como eu ir ... desculpe se te incomoda ou algo assim = P

@araleh06 I think it sounds like you are using a little too much polish - try using a few less drops. The layer in the water should be very thin or =)
@araleh06 It maybe too much polish like she said. Also... Sometimes there is a bit of polish residue on the top of the water.. It's like a clear film.. If you drag your finished nail through it it will run like water :( I eff mine up all the time like that. Just be extra careful about removing all the excess crud on top. PS I love this design!! :)
@mediumrarenipples An orange stick is a wooden manicure tool, basically a long pointy stick like a big toothpick =) You can use anything with a fine point that you don't mind getting polish on. They’re available most places that sell polish, usually stocked near the files & clippers
@aznb0r3d0m3 probably, anything fast drying is a poor choice - You want one with good pigmentation, maybe a little on the thick side but thin enough to drip & above all slow-drying. HTH =)
thats cool!

@SimpleLittlePleasues Thanks! You could be right as the last drops were quite thick. Can' t wait to try again :oD

Alright so if I were to do this outside what would the tempature be?
SkyeePie 8 months ago
@SkyeePie well, I consider room temperature to be about mid-70's =)

I used insta-dri nail polish, filtered room temperature water, but it always dries at the edges too fast ! Is it the nail polish :( ?
aznb0r3d0m3 8 months ago
@aznb0r3d0m3 probably, anything fast drying is a poor choice - You want one with good pigmentation, maybe a little on the thick side but thin enough to drip & above all slow-drying. HTH =)

this is just the coolest thing ever. I'm not really even into painting my nails, but i've never heard of water marbling before. very very creative.
