  • ベースすげぇな・・・

  • @yosihumi1116 一度ライブを見たことがあるのですが、これほどの激烈なスラップを笑いながら弾いてるんですよ。人間、極めるということは凄い物です。

  • Fusion is the word here

  • -the melody is missing, I think, but the rithm is very good

  • who is playing the keyboard? he can play! fast and clean

  • 8:17-8:21 on a subwoofer was whooooaaaahh

  • This song is pure fun

  • I Like The FODERA (only)

  • Lot's of excellent playing by some of the best players we have. Why do people keep comparing band to another, especially with Jazz & Fusion. We have a whole lot of Genres flowing together here, no one should categorize or chastise this because is not like "Something Else" , Everyone has favorites and prefers some things more than others. Bashing this makes no sense, if you do like this - Move on to what you enjoy.

  • Tetsuo Sakurai is the man.

don't know why, i want to hear al di meola on this track lol

  • Why do we ALWAYS feel the need to force everyone to like what we like? Who cares if someone doesn't like or even respects the music you're diggin'?

  • uhhhh sweeps.....

  • Tetsuo's bass riffs are already equivalent to an actual solo man

  • I know this is the main project of Tetsuo, I mean, Dennis & Greg both are great but definitely Tetsuo is the star here, he rocks totally!!!. Doubtless, he's one of my favourite on bass in the world by far!.

  • FOR CHRIST'S SAKE MY MIND WILL BLOW RIGHT NOW

  • Hey, if you're looking for good fusion and you don't like this you're a fucking pussy and you should go listen to Kenny G.

  • @issofunky "You for one" is the key phrase here, loser.

  • you mean slipknot has more in common with these guys. lol... dream theatre? srry. they are great musicians. but they arent quite on the same level as greg howe and the bunch. musicians like these are in and exclusive class of thier own. slipknot and dream theatre just cant hang with them... they are a heck of alot better skill wise than many other mainstream groups. ill give them that.

  • @MahavishnuOrchestra1 :

I agree. Although Slipknot still doesn't come close. As for Dream Theater, well, I used to totally love them until I realized just how utterly pretentious they've become.

Mike Portnoy, for example, is an excellent drummer, but the guy just can't play anything unless he's got a fucking 18-bar drum fill for every four measures of solid beat. It's annoying.

  • @issofunky But they sound really good!

  • @issofunky Your rambling makes me annoyed, compare this to any 70's fusion (Mahavishnu, Stanley Clarke, Cobham) and it's almost identical. Go back to school fool!

  • @issofunky when u become good enough at guitar to play next to denis chambers then u can comment on gregs playin till then.....shut ur fuckin face

  • @issofunky

Congratulations you have proven with your comment that you know nothing about music

The musicians here are at least on the same Level as Dream Theater, The Bass Player and the drummer are even better musicians then John Myung and Mike Portnoy

I bet you only listened to the first Minute and you decided Oh its a relentless note flood

Thats like saying Liquid Tension Experiment are just notes

  • @issofunky SLIPKNOT??!?!??

  • @issofunky idiot

  • They're all magnificient musicians...but this piece just sounds like a charade. Turn your head away from the screen, just listen to the music...and let's see how long it takes until you push the stop-button

  • @Joncalarvo I'm not sure what a "charade" sounds like. But I think you're in the minority on this one. This "piece" is also on 2 fantastic albums (1 studio, 1 live) that sold really well in the jazz fusion community. Nothing to look at there. No stop button necessary.

  • @Joncalarvo stop button??? I cant stop pushing the replay button!!

  • @Joncalarvo one reason for that is that the sound quality in this video is bad and the instruments overlie each other. i have heared a better version before with good quality. sound like another universe.

  • @Joncalarvo Personally I actually ripped my copy of the DVD onto my PC and converted the album as I couldn't get hold of the CD, just so I could listen to tunes like this on my mp3 player.

  • @Joncalarvo I guess your ears are letting you down.

  • @Joncalarvo well since the song title is "Brain Storm" it makes sense that there is a lot going on! it is a storm in my brain caused by these magnificent musicians that are creating a hurricane in my brain and I'm as happy as can be.

  • @Joeskateapool Exaactly !!!

  • what effect is Tetsuo using around 1:42 mark?

  • @dr05guitar i've got something on my Boss ME-50B pedal that sounds like his sound. It's called "T-wah Down"

  • @Galv1nBass right on man, thanks

  • 年甲斐なく凄い日本人第一号の感がありますねww

    神すぎるww

  • @kyokujirou2112 .....what?

  • I can see all the 12 years old jizz on that bass line xD

  • INCREDIBLE! That's Greg Howe on guitar too, isn't it? He is a master, from my home town too! Very cool stuff!

  • いや、神すぎて意味がわからない(笑)

  • This shit is insane! Like the live version more :D Then you can see he's actually playing it, and its not computer generated xD

  • Jesus this is like watching dream theater, only people this good at their instruments can play this kind of music

  • I'm not into this kind of bass line but Sakurai's amazing.

  • @misterguti14 Finally, intelligent life on Earth! I saw some negative comments about the bass line, but the fact here is that it doesn't matter if you liked how it sounds or not, because it's FREAKING AWESOME either way. Even with the bad recording quality, I heard it quite well. This is another level of music and it doesn't need to be "easy-listening" all the time, 'cause sometimes it's just about exploring different skills from the instrument and the musician. Congrats for recognizing that ;]

  • A true master of the bass I love this guy

  • vein poppin'!!!

  • Tetsuo or Wooten?

  • @branden623 Victa...

  • @branden623 i was thinking marcus.as much as i love both marcus and victor,i don't think neither wants a piece of tetsuo lol!!!!!! this guy is absolutely incredible

  • @branden623 Tetsuo, easily. Much more creative, in my opinion. Plus Tetsuo has played with Howe before where Howe plays songs that he recorded with Wooten... And Sakurai plays them effortlessly. But really, it's just personal taste as they are both top of the class when it comes to bass. It's cool to finally see Sakurai getting popular though. Years ago you would only hear his name on select few bass forums and such. From like 2000ish hes been getting a lot popular.

  • @PaulHanafinMusic Hi Paul! Judging by your channel you're the Paul Hanafin based in Darlo? This is Dave from the BMus!!! Hope you're well. I agree with your point like, but musicians like this don't just play this self-indulgent stuff. Dennis Chambers (as im sure you know) has the deepest pocket of any drummer i've ever heard, and Greg Howe can play melodies (every now and again!). This song is no doubt just a technical exercise, but you have to applaud the effort and work that's gone in to it.

  • @dave90mckeague No song is just a "technical exercise", I'm sure you would insult these great men just by suggesting such a thing. They've stretched their physical limitations only to make the MUSIC that they hear and feel deep down in their soul.

  • why all i can hear is noise in the bass.. cmon over use of slap

  • @maderpaker That's all you hear? I heard you're a faggot.

  • @thecool9 Thats how you speak? I heard you're an idiot. His point was stupid, but dear god grow up.

  • @hojima Fuck you, cunt.

  • @thecool9 Big man. Do you kiss your mother with that mouth? Act like an adult and maybe I'll try to be more civil.

  • @hojima STFU and stop posting on my video, you retard. You're obviously trying to pick a fight with me so you're the immature one. Either enjoy the music or go fuck yourself.

  • @thecool9 Um. Wow. I really enjoy this video, but what crawled up your ass?

  • @spynae What? Have you got some sort of problem with me?

  • @thecool9 Nevermind. The comment I responded to was 9 months old, but you still don't seem any less a hostile person, though I'm sure my declaration that something "crawled up your ass" wasn't the least inflammatory thing on my part.

  • @maderpaker It's not the slapping. It's the poor quality recording. They mixed it all together even though the main feature is the bass.

  • See, Asians do have souls! xD

I need to learn how Dennis hits those ghost notes on matched grip. It's both depressing and inspiring to watch

  • @tcslick420 "Asians do have souls!" XFD, who hasn't wondered this? srsly guys

  • With a smile.

  • @DrShrinker hehe quite every japanese musician smiles when he plays, Akira Jimbo, Casiopea, Jackpot... ;p

  • *throws bass down* Fuck it!

  • tetsuo toca pra caramba muito rápido e técnica apurada beleza d video.

  • man I know my hands would be cramped up playing a bass line like that

  • What's that sound at 0.01?XD

  • After playing this bassline your wrists may bleed or break , or other serious injury

  • ABSOLUTELY FANTASTICC!!!

  • This song travels at the speed of light!

  • uaaaaaaauuu!

  • very nice

  • Whos the black stevie vai?

  • @57bigjoe that's some racism dude..

  • @toppoxpocky for it to be "racism" it would have to imply some sort of discrimination... which it does not. you shouldn't just throw that term around wildly...

  • @toppoxpocky I call it a compliment!

  • @57bigjoe

    Dennis Chambers

  • MAN this is INSANE.I LOVE IT.

  • The rest of the band is amazing too!

  • Pushing it a little too hard.

    Chambers is a mutha.

  • @Frisbieinstein- Pushing too hard?! You efen me! Not hard enuf!

  • All I wanna know is... who's the guitar player because he's definitely leaning towards Steve Vai's style of playing

  • @Shaiah1 Greg Howe

  • @asakusawalker Who is phenomenal! One of my top 5 favorite guitar players

  • he's using the Thumb Technique of Victor Wooten, there's no groove in it, but it surely is vigorous and fast. what's to commend is that he's using a six stringed bass, which is, by experience, so hard to pop on, especially on the D and G string, and precise strength is required for the C string. the displacement of his downbeat is not in-sync with the drums, and to be honest, the lines are not Geddy Lee clear. but he surely is one of the best bassist out there. I salute you!

  • the is great pocket and soloing at it's best for a group of musicians. Everyone nails there part. They are together when they should be and when they go on there own....each musicians shuts it down. Great performance.

  • Absolutely insane!

  • I Just made a travel throught the galaxie listenning to this ! Totally awsome !

    Thx for Sharring.

  • sounds like a sonic level lol too sick

  • flipante

  • Sounds like the boss battle to an SNES game...

  • @mthomas4139

Hahah you read my thoughts man :P

  • :O dennis chamberss??

  • WOW!

...not just a brain storm, it's a brain fuck!

  • @maciekfingerstyle

My Brain Is Full Of Fuck ! D:

  • howe is the best guitar player ever!!! The band is PERFECT!!!

  • tell me about it. they play it like 7-10 bpm faster here than on the album

  • O.o

  • wow.. tetsuo is the is the bomb killer bass riff.. u guys could literally his right hand is full of veins sticking out.. lol. he is the man.

  • killer group! greg howe and dennis chambers!

  • well, i'm gonna go hang myself. thanks for the greatest 8 minutes one could ask for before death.

  • The album version is good, but it misses them keyboards!

  • how the hell does he do that bass riff.. *scratches head*

  • Look up Stanley Clarke double slaps, or it might be a lot of hammer/pull with popped muted notes and ghosts. Pretty crazy stuff nonetheless...!

  • sakurai...

  • No me gusto el tema.... buenos musicos... pero el tema no me gusto xD

  • Damn the band is amazing. Wow I wish i could play like Dennis.

  • greg howe

  • whos the guitarist?

  • is Dennis Chambers on Drums???

  • yes, he is.

  • One Of The Best Group Of Musicians I've Heard.

  • dennis chambers! ... just Amazing

  • esta rola la escuche tambien con V. wooten e igual con los mismos dennis chamber en la bataka y greg howe en la guitar...

    son unos musicos bien locos....

  • a fodera♥

  • omg this is fucking awesome!

  • Tetsuro Sakurai is a baaaaad man!

  • AMAZING, the 3 of them, just great!

  • uh.. i counted 4

  • WOW that was fukin amazing....

  • 4:46 OWNS!!!!!!

  • have you hear tetsuo sakurai in you can do it ?

  • That's a lively one.....

    Mental, but awesome too!

  • anyone know the guitar chords in the beginning riff???

  • damn tetsuo is dope not only that dennis chambers!? whata combo

  • DNA test spit cups.

  • check out john myung ( dream theater´s bass player), also very good!

  • very good. :D

  • Holy fuck!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • to be that good, WITH A 6 STRING!! is just insane. Hat's off to you, mate...

  • Tetsuo is a true master of bass, and this bass line is both killer and insane!!! I mean to be able to hold up that bass line for almost 9 minutes ......man, that's outstanding!!!

  • I have been there before, I have enough endurance, but I cut my index finger in 2 places after I was done. The scary part was I did not know it was bleeding until after I looked down and the string was slightly red, hahaha.

  • Have you indeed? Well, i guess it shoiuld've been difficult to keep up with the bass line and finger bleeding!!

  • Wicked Bass solo. Awesome band!

  • theres gotta be wood chips on the floor where tetsuo was standing after his shows...seriously that bass is taking some punishment...fucking amazing

  • Incredible !!! just like Liquid Tension Experiment.....

  • Quite a bit better than LTE my friend.

  • I can't stop thinking about poor Greg touring with justin timberlake! :P

  • im pretty sure hes not too dissapointed...i mean...come on...not only is he gonna play in front of thousands of people...but hes probably gonna get a shit load of money....thats what session musicians do

  • Complexity is relative. If you have a simple mind that freaks out when you hear a typical noob playing church modes against simple 1 and 2 chord vamps, then you think the noob (aka Vai) is playing "complex music". I on the other hand, have evolved past this noodishness due to my chronology.

As I look at myself today, I cannot believe that I once though Santana (1974) was the shit! I get the feeling that you'll see what I'm saying once your whiskers turn a little grey. LOL!

  • im 19 and i think santana is OK...but he aint got shit on greg and many other fusion guitarist

  • Why did you mention that you're 19....?????

  • lol i forgot i wrote these comments...mustve been drunk...

but yea i dont why i put im 19

  • lol. I understand now. I agree with your comment though about greg howe being better than Santana.

  • osensei2987- Look, calling Vai a noob is just ridiculous. The Fire Garden Suite and the pieces he wrote for Metropole Orkest are deep pieces. No, he doesn't play through Coltrane changes on his tunes, but that isn't what he does. Howe's version of "Giant Steps" turns the solo into a one chord vamp; so does that mean he isn't saying anything on it? You are right, complexity is relative. Howe does some complex stuff. But Vai a noob? Sorry, dude. I read your posts. Your argument doesn't hold up.

  • Tetsuo has amazing endurance to play that busy for 8 minutes. The show must have been aewsome live.

  • My GOD...

    Wow...

    Just....dang...

  • yeah...BUT

    greg is just better like

  • sounds like something from a sega genesis game... very nice!

  • I can def agree with this.

Didn't even notice until I read that.

  • the truth is that none of us is even half good as vai or howe that he can comment on wich one is better...they're both great, even if different...u cannot say vai is not good just because he plays different stuff...this is so immature...and not even dare to compare him to flea or justin timberlake!!

  • yes vai is an excellent player. i agree with you.this is stupid

  • ........what the hell kinda argument just happened here?! lmao

  • Yeeaahh! this is fusion dont compare this with vai stuff. vai is a good poser

  • ..can't we just all agree that these are great musicians making great music??..though i do wish howe would've done something more melodically interesting in 3:17-4:01..tetsuo definitely still has those funky solos since his casiopea days..

  • shredicon... i think u prefer vai because he has a more rock/metal type of vibe.. I like greg howe's playing better because he twists those time signatures so hard.. vai sounds great..but howe sounds more mature..my personal opinion only.I am dan. vocalist for SIMPLE EXPERIMENT.. 3rd place asian beat competition 2003

  • far better...

  • Dang. That's one nasty performance.

  • I'm new to the jazz fusion (or whatever) genre. Where can you find stuff like this?

  • search up bands like casiopea, t-square, and level 42..you'll find a lot of excellent music...can't go wrong with casiopea...

  • omfg it must hurt like hell keeping that up for 8mins O_O speechless....

  • Fuckin' skilled bass player

  • like hamsters on a tread mill...really SMOKIN' hamsters!

  • Im sure Howe was a shredder once?

Just imagine if Vai had taken that solo break...

    Sweet track though.

  • Greg Howe is from that class of shredders that came out in the late 90's -- came out along with Paul Gilbert, Jason Becker, Tony MacAlpine, Yngwie, Malmsteen, and those guys.
