Hugh joined the Footlights in 1980 and got married in 1989, Emma got married in 1989 aswell.

It was a bit of a delightful shock: I'd seen Laurie in the Blackadders, and Peter's Friends, but House, wow! Did you know he made an audition tape for House in a bathroom in a moth-eaten motel in Namibia? Why the bathroom? The only place in his room with a lightbulb. He auditioned with the straight American accent and stubble, and NAILED IT.
