@metallosty96 Think about it. what has Gman been trying to get gordon to do since HL2? yeah, he wanted gordon to blow up the citadel, but not stop the combine from using the super portal. he needs the combine to come to earth, where they are weakest, so him and his people can take them down once and for all. Humans are the bait. he caused the resonance cascade by bringing the crystal, which in turn bought the combines attention to earth. The Borealis is his last chance.

@a4o31 Yeah, but they announced it E3 2003, 4 and 1/2 years after HL1. And back then, they had about 1/3, if not less, employees. And those fewer employees were not only working on HL2, but the Source engine, TF2, CS:S, and Steam.

Gabe said clearly in an interview that there won't be a Source 2 engine for a long time, so they, with their increased manpower, really don't have an excuse for this delay anymore ... at least, not any reason that he could tell us and we wouldn't understand.
