Jordan could do alot of what Magic did. The D, making plays happen, however Jordan had parts of his skill set that Magic couldn't touch. They are completely different players in their playstyle but I would I imagine if Magic had the same type of scoring ability as Jordan he would have played more like Jordan. Therefore Jordan is the best. Wilt's still better than both of them tho.
@TheReecemack and you do? why the hostility? Anyways, as you saw in my earlier comment I have nothing but the utmost respect for Jordan's abilities. He was a monster. However I think WIlt is better because when he was in his prime he was basically unstoppable. And it's not just his stats that show his dominance, which they do quite admirably. Do you know how many non guards have ever lead the league in assists? Only one. Guess who? Multiple years at that.
@TheReecemack Do you know how many players were so dominant that the league had to institute rule changes to try and curb their dominance? That answer is 3. Mikan and Jabbar each had a rule changed to hinder them but Wilt had three completely different rules changes. One for inbounding, one for free throws, and they also widened the lane because of him. First lane widening was because of Mikan. I think that speaks wonders to show his dominance.
@TheReecemack I don't think stats tell the whole story of how good a player is, but I will say this because I think it does say something. Wilt holds 72 NBA all time records. He holds 63 of those by himself(no ties). Scored 100=1 time, Scored 65 or more=15 times, Scored 50 or more= 118 times. Career avg of 23 rebounds per game and single game record of 55. He averaged a double double every year he played and came close to averaging a triple double twice.
@TheReecemack Oh and get this. They didn't even record stats for blocks and steals back then but according to some reliable sources it wasn't uncommon to see him get 25 blocks in a game. Not a typo..25...blocks....in one game. Most 50 point games in a single season. Wilt with 45 in 61. Second on that list. Wilt with 30 in 62. No other player has ever had more than 10. Jordan has 39 (including playoffs), Kobe has 25(including playoffs) in their entire careers.
@TheReecemack So based on all of that and more, like the fact he was in a Conan movie(That's gotta count for something) is why I feel Wilt was the best. So now that I have given you all these reasons for the way I feel, I eagerly await your reply. I sincerely hope it has a little more substance than your earlier one. Oh yeah, get fucked. Actually you don't have to do that. Just curl up somewhere and die. Thanks a bunch.
@slimshadyftw97 well i was done until ya drew me back. haha It was overkill but honestly Wilts accomplishments seem to get overlooked. I mean we all know about the 100 point game, but for real his stats and records are almost unbelievable. Some of those records are for all realistic purposes unbreakable. 22.89 rpg career. Closest active NBA player is Dwight Howard coming in at a whopping 12 possibly 13. Wilt was a beast.
@kreb42 So your that one prick who goes against what everybody with a brain believes in that Michael Jordan was the greatest basket baller of time you sir fucker are a disgrace and with your so called 'rule changes' that came about from Wilt Chamberlain Michael Jordan changed the face of sport you fucker and MJ era had way better defenders, which means that its far harder to score i hope your little brain understood all that
@TheReecemack Well, yeah I am that prick. But I am not the only one. As far my so called rule chnages go...That happened.. I am not making it up. You can find the info fairly easily if you want to. Jordan did change the game, but not to the point where they had to institute rule changes. Jordan's era had tons of talent, no doubt. But so did Wilt's. You act like there were no good players til the 80's or some shit. Wilt's main rival was a guy named Bill Russell.
@TheReecemack Now snce you don't respect Wilt I know ur not gonna respect that name but during their 10 year rivalry, WIlt put up record breaking numbers and Russell won 9 championships. 9....9....in....10....YEARS. Yep no good players for wilt to play against. Wilt and Russell both averaged over 20 rpg for their career. Big deal huh? It's just some rebounds, right? Only 3 other players in the entire history of the NBA have averaged 20 rpg for a season.Reread that last part.
@TheReecemack Yep, I am still goin. You say Jordan played in an era of better competition, but of the NBA’s Top 50 players, Wilt played against more of them than Jordan. Hmmmm....Jabbar, Frazier, Oscar Fucking Robertson, Pistol Pete, Havlicek, Earl Monroe,Bob Cousy,Hal Greer, Elgin Baylor, and Jerry west to name a few. And there were less teams, so they were all stacked with talent. You could cut his rebounds in half and he would still lead the league some of those years.
@kreb42, note how the only player that you named who played the same position as Wilt (Jabar) came along when Wilt was on the back end of his career when he was past his prime. Outside of Russell Wilt didn't have a great deal of competition, And to throw out guards and small forwards is more than a little silly to refute that point. Wilt's significant size advantage at the time and the fact that shooting percentages were much lower at that time certainly accounts for a lot of the rebounds.
@jdlund I was just pointing out that there was talent in that era. How many of those top tier players in jordans era were guards that Jordan himself had to cover?
@kreb42, more than Wilt had to cover. Not to mention while Jordan didn't guard a guy like say Hakeem, he certaily had to score over him, so there's that. But point taken that there was talent that Wilt went up against just not a lot at his position.
As for the stat lines yes he had produced. He was dominating. I would say two things. One the era has to be considered with regards to those stats and the two the most dominant player in the history of the game would have more rings.
@jdlund I thank you for intelligent response. Era does have to be considered, but it's not like he was putting up stats that were close to Jordan. He was putting up stats that no one can even replicate. Secondly, championships are won by teams not individuals. I mean he had two. That's nothing to sneeze at, but that's why I never even mention them. He didn't win them the combined team did.
@jdlund Also if Wilt had access to the same training regimines and medical technology as today's players just imagine how dominant he could be. Back then guys didn't even lift weights for fear that it would affect their shot. Silly, but it's what they thought. See what I mean.
@kreb42, also I don't see how you could possibly argue that the 60s had anywhere near the talent level of the 80s, when MJ was coming up in the league and dominating. Even if you want to throw in guys like Reed, Monroe, Pistol, Jabbar and Frazier who all came up late in Wilt's career or guys like Schayes who were winding down when Wilt entered the league, MJ played against far more of the top tier of that top 50 than Wilt. Wilt was a great player, amazing stat lines, just not better than MJ.
@jdlund You don't get amazing stat lines by doing nothing. You have to get out there and actually do it. So he is a little bit more than just a stat line. He was the single most dominant player in the history of the game.
@TheReecemack He would be in the top 4 every year. With his rebound totals cut in half. But he wasn't just a big man getting reb. and posting up 2 feet away from the basket. He was a very versatile player for his size he once got a triple double in 9 consecutive games which is a record and is the only player to ever record a DOUBLE-TRIPLE-DOUBLE. Did you even know that such a thing even existed? Oh and like I said before they weren't even counting blocks and steals back then.
u cant pin magic against mj cause magic was a play maker while jordan was a scorer. jordan was a better scorer than magic but magic was a better play maker
@theshach100 Well it depends on time for example Bill Russell was the greatest player of his time. Dr.J was the greatest player of his time, Magic and Bird had to share the spotlight. and Micheal Jordan was the greatest player of his time.
@theshach100 Yeah right! How about winning a Playoff MVP Award in only your Rookie Season then tell me who was really better between Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson. Obviously "His Airness" did not win a Championship in his Rookie Season.
@bokomilcevski23 why would Julius erving be at S.F? if any thing Julius Erving shud be PF Michael Should be SF and Larry Bird should be SG with yo dumbass
i love magic, hes an excellent passer, but Jordan changed the whole game of basketball but with out magic AND larry and other great players, basketball would be nothing. Jordan > Magic
Magic! the only dude to ever play all positions, 6'9" pg with a pf body!! plus humiliated other teams with his ridiculous passing! he scored when he had to and his fg% was very high!!
@joncastro5 I think Boston Celtics (1981-1987) was better team than Chicago Bulls with Michael Jordan. Chicago in the 80 decade would win two rings, no more.
If I had a choice between taking Magic or Jordan to start my team, I gotta go with Magic. While Jordan is the greatest to do it, I still would take Magic over him
@makpak some of that is true but u most look at the competitiveness from which this vid brings by saying someone is better this video makes competition from which the players drive on to make them better without the comparing how will anyone be the GOAT
@TheBrownAthlete i believe hakeem is better then Chamberlain the reason is hakeem is more versatile with his play style on offense and defense he can shoot like no other center and he even resembles jordan at center position
magic johnson was a great player and mj + larry bill russell and more so its unfair to say magic is better than mj or mj is better than magic or larry better that bill
If you had the first pick in the draft and a 21 year old MJ and 21 year old Magic to choose who are you taking? I am leaning towards Michael because he was the more complete player and with his with his style of play he was able to dominate for longer but Magic would have more of an impact faster because he made his teammates better than Michael did. Remember the 1980 Finals he was the finals MVP as a rookie.
yo jimmer fredette is the next magic he can pull up and shoot from anywhere he can totally break ankles and he is on of the best players in traffic that i have ever seen
I think magic is better only because we've never seen anybody like him.. not even close. There are jordan replicas such as lebron, kobe, t mac in his prime, and there are probably others i haven't mentioned. but we've only seen ONE kind of player like magic.
people that know basketball and actually saw Magic in his prime they know what the magic man could do, play all the 5 positions, the guy WON a title as a rookie (with no Kareem), nobody else has such feat, if i had to pick 1 player on his prime to start a team, i would pick Magic, its a hard choice most people regard MJ as the GOAT cuz his game had more flash in it,more athletic, he could still dunk after 40yrs i mean he's the greatest in game dunks (sorry vince)
Just asking,u created a video saying "Magic" Johnson vs. Michael Jordan, but u only showed them giving assists what about them scoring?how can u compare them by creating a video about the two of them giving assists?
I love Mike, and will always, and he got magic in the finals on Magics decline in his career. No excuses but, Magic is by far the best pg to ever play the game, mike is the best Sg there is no 1 great player, thats bullshit. Oscar Robertson avg a triple double in a season, nobody has done that. Ever. Wilt got 100 points in a game. 100? Mike is a better sg but he didnt drop 81 like kobe did. this lebron/mike comparison is also bs, Larry Bird best sf ever, and lebron aint got shit, but 2 mvp's.
@DaWoOdPrInCe 1st its not an excuse thats a FACT jordan beat an old magic that had HIV already in his last season nowhere near his prime and the same goes for bird thomas etc it was only till they got old too that jordan was able to get past them CUZ IN THEIR PRIME THAT EQUALED JORDAN GOING FISHING/ your comments are spot on
@DaWoOdPrInCe im agreeing with you, in my opinion magic was better than jordan, all i was saying is that its not excuse to say jordan beat an over the hill magic cuz thats a fact jordan wouldnt have beat a young magic and his 80s teams/ just like he never got through the guanlet that was the 80s teams in the east bird thomas owned jordans teams in their prime
@5042024 Oh well yeah of course, i mean when people talk about jordan and magic, magic was in a sense jordans idol. And was in the league for 5-6 years before he got a ring. I wish people would stomp pumping jordan up, i mean he is one of the best ever, but cmon, when i see todays players and such, all i see is imitations of rondo especially in chris paul and definitely rondo.
@DaWoOdPrInCe great comment, its not like im saying jordan sucked its just people forget how he couldnt get through the hall of fame teams of the 80s celtics pistons etc had jordans number when it came to winning when it mattered
There is all talks with whos the best ever or greatest. I don't think there is one...yet. Different era's or not, its still no excuse, because the 15:00 each quarter, fouls and all is still the same. Jordan was a great sg with a great swingman in Scotty that won 6 rings, and a dunk contest and has the highest ppg career average. That's what mike did. Kobe got 5 won a dunk contest, and is still out there playing. Magic had 5. Wilt average 50/20 in a ssn. better players were there then mike imo.
In that order, b/c of Defensive/Offensive impact, team makeup, and versatility. Magic had THE BEST string of scorers in the history of the league...with a weak 80's western conference(when compared to the 80's east)Magic = the greatest PG ever, but not always the most dominant, or scariest. MJ and Bird were twice the offensive players that Magic was b/c they could shoot...defensive ratings magic is 221st...(not ever remotely good).MJ greatest SG ever, Bird greatest SF ever
two different players, both best in their own position, however i think that magic did something noone will ever manage to do, make basketball look like a 5 star entertainment show
Magic, Bird, and MJ were awesome...Mj,Bird,Magic in terms on individual skill in that order for me; but really with those 3 its like splitting hairs trying to compare and see who's best.
@quinnmiller68 lol but what if it happpen you cant sit here and say you wouldnt like it from maybe 5 yrs . how can you be an nba fan and not imagine mj and michael playing
BOTH are GREAT! Magic Johnson was a legend because he was the player that could handle Michael Jordan without letting Jordan dunk all up on him. Magician Legend and Beast Legend put effort to make history of the National Basketball Assocation.
@warriorofjustuce I don't see how Dr. J is even a contestant against bird...even his ABA days weren't as dominant as Bird's....Lebron, Drexler, Barry,Havlicek have better cases than Dr. J as the greatest SF ever. Look up "Larry Bird-Defense" on youtube...
@usnate1 Man Julius was way better than LeBron and Drexler how can you say that
and I did sorta overlook birds defensive ability but it is still a close call look at Dr J's ability to drive and break defenses no doubt Erving is at least second to bird
@warriorofjustuce I'd put Julius at the 3 spot(at least tied for 3)...Don't forget Baylor(look him up) you might change you're opinion on the number 2.
@usnate1 are you fucking high dr j was way better then lebron . yea lebron might have stats but lets face it lebron is a choke artist . would you really want that on your team. if jordan missed most those amazing shots and had no rings would you still think jordan was king ? i bet not.
@elvisjackerabduljama oh hell no lolz, i just saw the "best white basketball-player ever?" comment, but i didn't read da response's b4 dat. i just troll nigga

@TheBrownAthlete i believe hakeem is better then Chamberlain the reason is hakeem is more versatile with his play style on offense and defense he can shoot like no other center and he even resembles jordan at center position

Magic, Mj, Bird, Malone, Shaq.
AI, Kobe, Pip, Duncan, Kareem.
Stockton, Pistol Pete, LBJ, Garnett, Hakeem (Would LOVE to see that team chemistry!).

Great mix. MJ's pass to Luke Longley at 1:53 was insane.
toobasaurus23 5 months ago
Mejor PG Magic esos pases
Mejor SG Jordan Indudablemente
Mejor SF Lebron James va a sobrepasar ampliamente a larry
Mejor PF Abdul-Jabbar

I think magic is better only because we've never seen anybody like him.. not even close. There are jordan replicas such as lebron, kobe, t mac in his prime, and there are probably others i haven't mentioned. but we've only seen ONE kind of player like magic.

Magic is the only one!!!!
Martwatcher 5 months ago
people that know basketball and actually saw Magic in his prime they know what the magic man could do, play all the 5 positions, the guy WON a title as a rookie (with no Kareem), nobody else has such feat, if i had to pick 1 player on his prime to start a team, i would pick Magic, its a hard choice most people regard MJ as the GOAT cuz his game had more flash in it,more athletic, he could still dunk after 40yrs i mean he's the greatest in game dunks (sorry vince)

Just asking,u created a video saying "Magic" Johnson vs. Michael Jordan, but u only showed them giving assists what about them scoring?how can u compare them by creating a video about the two of them giving assists?
jijyno2 5 months ago
I love Mike, and will always, and he got magic in the finals on Magics decline in his career. No excuses but, Magic is by far the best pg to ever play the game, mike is the best Sg there is no 1 great player, thats bullshit. Oscar Robertson avg a triple double in a season, nobody has done that. Ever. Wilt got 100 points in a game. 100? Mike is a better sg but he didnt drop 81 like kobe did. this lebron/mike comparison is also bs, Larry Bird best sf ever, and lebron aint got shit, but 2 mvp's.
DaWoOdPrInCe 5 months ago
@DaWoOdPrInCe 1st its not an excuse thats a FACT jordan beat an old magic that had HIV already in his last season nowhere near his prime and the same goes for bird thomas etc it was only till they got old too that jordan was able to get past them CUZ IN THEIR PRIME THAT EQUALED JORDAN GOING FISHING/ your comments are spot on
5042024 5 months ago
@5042024 So are you agreeing or disagreeing, because i personally like Magic more than jordan. But clarify?
DaWoOdPrInCe 5 months ago
@DaWoOdPrInCe im agreeing with you, in my opinion magic was better than jordan, all i was saying is that its not excuse to say jordan beat an over the hill magic cuz thats a fact jordan wouldnt have beat a young magic and his 80s teams/ just like he never got through the guanlet that was the 80s teams in the east bird thomas owned jordans teams in their prime
5042024 5 months ago
@5042024 Oh well yeah of course, i mean when people talk about jordan and magic, magic was in a sense jordans idol. And was in the league for 5-6 years before he got a ring. I wish people would stomp pumping jordan up, i mean he is one of the best ever, but cmon, when i see todays players and such, all i see is imitations of rondo especially in chris paul and definitely rondo.
DaWoOdPrInCe 5 months ago
@DaWoOdPrInCe great comment, its not like im saying jordan sucked its just people forget how he couldnt get through the hall of fame teams of the 80s celtics pistons etc had jordans number when it came to winning when it mattered
5042024 5 months ago
There is all talks with whos the best ever or greatest. I don't think there is one...yet. Different era's or not, its still no excuse, because the 15:00 each quarter, fouls and all is still the same. Jordan was a great sg with a great swingman in Scotty that won 6 rings, and a dunk contest and has the highest ppg career average. That's what mike did. Kobe got 5 won a dunk contest, and is still out there playing. Magic had 5. Wilt average 50/20 in a ssn. better players were there then mike imo.

AllusernamesgoneFUCK 5 months ago
MJ>Bird>Magic Overall
In that order, b/c of Defensive/Offensive impact, team makeup, and versatility. Magic had THE BEST string of scorers in the history of the league...with a weak 80's western conference(when compared to the 80's east)Magic = the greatest PG ever, but not always the most dominant, or scariest. MJ and Bird were twice the offensive players that Magic was b/c they could shoot...defensive ratings magic is 221st...(not ever remotely good).MJ greatest SG ever, Bird greatest SF ever
usnate1 5 months ago
if I had to choose 1 of them in their prime, I would go with Magic. Jordan was great, but Magic did it all....
mystamuzikmann 5 months ago
Now guys comon you can't dis him for having aids or even question his heart
AIDS won't affect how you play but playing with AIDS will affect your life and he came back for a season after he got it.
also just saying stfu abou lebron who cares about him we are comaring greats not questioning players
warriorofjustuce 5 months ago
Jordan's defense was sick as well ! No current player would get half the shots they get now ( if they were playing against him in his prime).

two different players, both best in their own position, however i think that magic did something noone will ever manage to do, make basketball look like a 5 star entertainment show

@warriorofjustuce I don't see how Dr. J is even a contestant against bird...even his ABA days weren't as dominant as Bird's....Lebron, Drexler, Barry,Havlicek have better cases than Dr. J as the greatest SF ever. Look up "Larry Bird-Defense" on youtube...
usnate1 5 months ago
@usnate1 Man Julius was way better than LeBron and Drexler how can you say that
and I did sorta overlook birds defensive ability but it is still a close call look at Dr J's ability to drive and break defenses no doubt Erving is at least second to bird
warriorofjustuce 5 months ago
@warriorofjustuce I'd put Julius at the 3 spot(at least tied for 3)...Don't forget Baylor(look him up) you might change you're opinion on the number 2.
usnate1 5 months ago
@usnate1 are you fucking high dr j was way better then lebron . yea lebron might have stats but lets face it lebron is a choke artist . would you really want that on your team. if jordan missed most those amazing shots and had no rings would you still think jordan was king ? i bet not.
