In all my years of game playing, no soundtrack, before FF VII or since, has ever come close to equaling this masterpiece. I highly doubt anything possibly can.
@BrickCity4eva I did, only because I accidentally stumbled across that secret on my fifth or so playthrough. That's the joy of older RPGs - there was usually something new to discover each time.
@Arathyrion yeah, I agree. I've played this game about 50 times..and I didn't know there was a secret like Full Cure and Final Attack Materia until like the 45th lol
I love to hike and sometimes, when I reach the top of a cliff or reach the outskirts of a forest and see a big field stretched out in the distance I sometimes play this song back in my head
This game had an extraordinarily emotive soundtrack. My first contact with FF7 was when I saw a full page ad in an old gaming mag; it was just this dramatic shot of Midgar, all neon and smoking. I immediately wanted to know all about the lives of the unseen characters who lived there. Effectively, I based my purchase (and all subesquent FFs) on this one atmospheric image. Thankfully, it had the music to match.
i searched far and wide to know this song. i knew it was in ff7, but i did not know where and its name. but now i've finally found it and i'm awarded by an amazing sense of rediscovery and wonderful tune.
This music fit perfectly with Mt. Corel.. the baby birds.. the guy who lays around all day in the cave.. the sun setting while u run towards it on the one scene.. great music.. too bad once you get to corel barrett flips out and you get thrown and prison because of Dyne haha the calm before the storm!
@michmellis Im also in my mid 20's and I think FF really sucks after 8 :( they just dont make these kind of games anymore where your eyes get wet and your emotions all fired up.
Just bought FFVII from the PS Store 2 days ago. And been playing it a lot since then. When I first heard this tune, I was instantly awestruck by the yellow/orange/red background as Cloud ran atop the old rollercoaster tracks as this tune played in all its simplicity and beauty in the background. Thank you for uploading!

The entire modern medium of fiction owes much to Mr. Uematsu. He creates worlds with his music.

Always sounded like a 50s ballad to me. I can just hear some teeny bopper singing "Girl, I still looooove you. Oh don't you ever let me gooooo."

I so think of a meteor shower over Cosmo Canyon when I hear this song... The reflection of shooting stars off Tifa's eyes.

Is Mt Corel the mountain you go in after Costa de Sol?
If so then my game is fucked! I try going into a mountain but the screen turns black and the main theme is still playing.
