  • Lone yellow shoe at 1:28.

  • I'm sad laughing at this!

  • hmmm never done this, maybe its harder than it looks lol

  • Dude, this is why we don't trust tri-athletes in our roadie training rides....so we drop them the first chance we get!

  • #52 why serious cyclists don't want to do triathlons...

  • @jetjohnson2 With reasons #1 and #2 being they can't swim or run.

  • i think they should stay far away from cyclocross

  • Hahaha. I'm willing to bet that if every single one of them just calmed to fuck down, stopped running and tried getting on their bikes like normal people, they would cut more time off of their bike leg than using a new set of Zipp 808's.

  • Hahaha, no regard for their fellow competitors, swerving everywhere, braking suddenly, trying to go from a standing start in the 52/39... pro triathletes at work.

  • @SwedishBeatballs, I think zampdachamp means to say runs 10kms in 28minutes.

  • I felt sorry for the ridicule from VR , then I was collapsico in tears laughing at their skills demonstration, reminds me of certain fighter pilots during the war.

  • Swimming in cold water can frequently make someone very, very dizzy. Gives me something like motion sickness.

  • decided to comment again, I cannot believe the stupidity I am witnessing in this footage

  • As a cyclist what I see here are people so worried about saving the seconds it takes to put the shoes on first that they are risking serious injury and losing far more time by mounting a bike with preclipped shoes and trying to put them on while riding. Seriously. Soft pedaling long enough to get the shoes on and secured while riding has got to be slower than just pulling them on and then going.

Maybe this works for top level pro's who practice transitions weekly. It don't work for these girls.

  • The girl with the yellow shoes completed her race and finishes in 13th. Not bad.

  • @rsmethven With only 1 shoe? Why?

  • Is this the Special Olympics?

  • is she really going to finish the ride without one shoe?

  • that's the funniest thing i've seen all week!

  • The girl with yellow shoes is just terrible. At the end of the video the yellow shoe is still on the road?????

LOL I could watch this for hours. I hope they never try Cyclocross.

  • what happened to "hold your line"?

  • what a mess

  • who said woman triathletes were poor bike handlers

  • amusing that people comment the way they do, mediocre in 3 sports? go give it a shot there people and let's see how competitive you are.. distance doesn't matter, until you win you division/age group every time you have no ability to comment on how mediocre athletes who "compete" in triathlons are..

  • @dbrawders stuffing pepsi cans up your behind is pretty strenuous too, so let's see your video.

  • @dbrawders

How are they not mediocre in 3 sports? If they competed against pure swimmers in a swim they will lose. If they compete against a pure runner in a run they will lose. If they competed in a road race they will probably crash out.

Im sorry but you cant compare them to athletes who concentrate on 1 sport rather than 3.

  • @SwedishBeatballs No disrespect, but thrathlon is 1 sport. It consists of swimming, biking and running. You put a swimmer in a triathlon they will loose, Put a runner in a triathlon they will loose, put a cyclist in a triathlon they will probably be unable to finish the run well.

I'm sorry, but you can't compare triathletes to those who concentrate on one of the three disciplines.

  • @thebsharps1

I get what your saying but its 1 sport made up of 3 other sports. Its allot more impressive to see a professional dedicated to 1 sport than a professional splitting his time 3 ways for a triathlon.

Sure in total each is putting in the same number of hours but when you dedicate all your time into 1 sport you can achieve so much more.

  • @SwedishBeatballs Gotcha! that's why Simon Whitfield was awarded three gold medals for his winning performance in triathlon in Sidney. And why you can find pictures of Vanessa Fernandes wearing her three gold medals for her triathlon win in China. I guess they get one each for each of the three sports they compete in. Oh, wait, no they don't.

  • @thebsharps1 ??? did you even read what I said? I dont care if they get awarded 3 medals, it doesnt change the fact that triathlon is a sport defined by 3 sports. Anyways thats not even the argument I was making.

Take Simon Whitfield or Vanessa Fernandes, lets say they both dedicated themselves only to cycling. Do you think they would be better at just cycling if they only did that one sport, rather than they would be at cycling if they trained for 3 sports?

  • @SwedishBeatballs Alistair Brownlee is a top world ranked Cross Country runner and runs in the 28's for 10k on the road. Mediocre?

  • @zampdachamp "runs in the 28's for 10k on the road."

umm if u mean she can ride 10km in 28 minutes on a flat coarse with no wind then mediocre would be a compliment. If you literally mean she runs in the 28's for 10k on the raod then i hav no idea what you are talking about unless u mean how fast she is running while physically running on a road? Anyways im saying athletes who are dedicated to one sport rather than 3 will be better at the 1 sport. it sounds like you are agreeing with me

  • @SwedishBeatballs Alistair Brownlee is male and probably the best Triathlete in the World right now, which shows how little you know about Triathlon..

  • @SOUNDMODE1 I don't know what I said about this video 7 months ago, but i know for sure that i never claimed to know anything about triathlons except that if you train for 3 sports full time you wont be as good at either of those sports as if you dedicated yourself to only one of them. Among other reasons, that certainly would play into why triathletes are such terrible cyclists. If you think otherwise I urge you to watch the video.

  • Now I see who the real winner of a triathlon is: The one who can put their shoes on the fastest without falling over. Pathetic!

  • Triantelopes at there best!:-)

  • pros practice their transitions.

  • This video makes the baby Erik De Vlaeminck weep.

  • I was a no-talent hack at triathlon and I still transitioned better than these schmucks. Then I saw the light and started racing a bike legitimately. Night and day difference, not to mention style. Triathlon is just terrible. I am ashamed of myself, though stuff like this is excellent fodder for cyclists.

There's a reason why try-athletes are stereotyped as having piss-poor handling skills. Way to grind those gears out of T1, kids. At least women triathletes can be moderately attractive.

  • Sounds like tammygoose really sucks at tri, and has a bad case of sour grapes. yes, I do tri's, and I sure mount more gracefully than these ladies do.

  • really? this is world champs? fuck that. watch ITU series pros. their transitions are...well...transitions...

  • Compared to how tri geeks mount a bike, the way they urinate all over them seems much more acceptable.

  • OMG.

  • Women, world class athletes? Same sentence in a serious manner??

  • @Gearoboy Haha, good one, if you could link me to the webcomic you write that would be awesome

  • Hahahahaha , Tri 'athletes', what a bunch of jokers. Incapable of riding a bicycle, let alone putting a pair of shoes on. Give up and play snooker or something.

  • hahahahaha! :-)

  • I really question the time saving one really gets from not putting your shoes on first.

    Pathetic.

  • @Coridromius in this case....not much. :P

  • The baseball player loves to hit the fucking ball with his bat. He would probably like it if the sport of baseball didn't exist. The basketball player enjoys the challenge of making an all-net basket. He would probably still love to shoot basket if the sport of basketball didnt exist. The mountain biker loves to ride trails and push his handling to the limit, whether it is training by him/herself or in a MTB race.

Are you gonna tell me that triathletes love/ have a passion for the transition?

  • Comment removed

  • Alright all you triathletes listen up and I will explain to you why the transition in triathlon makes it stupid:

Yes it is true that the transition is the technical/skilled aspect of triathlon. Like hitting a ball with a bat is in baseball, or shooting a basket is in basketball, or drafting/bike handling is in cycling. The difference is that the transition in triathlon is not enjoyable. It is not something that you can love/have a passion for.

  • @waklee1 I have done a few triathlons. So I guess I can comment on them: They are fucking retarded. The transition is what makes it not a sport. Either swim, or ride your bike, or go for a run. Don't combine all of them just because you are mediocre at all of them.

Who is ok with winning a competition, not because they were simply the strongest, but because they were able to put their shoe/ take off their wetsuit faster than someone else? A try-athlete, that's who

  • @tammygoose Oh tammy, don't be sore about the sport. So you didn't like it- boo hoo. Compare the respective swim, bike and run times of elite triathletes to those of elite athletes that specialize in one sport; although slightly slower, the times are phenomenal, especially considering that the sports are done back-to-back. Maybe next time you should train for the transition, considering that it IS a part of the sport.

  • @tammygoose right, because sports never involve technical things like throwing a ball into a hoop, whacking a ball with a stick, drafting a bicycle behind teammates, or using your dexterity to overcome opponents. sports are only about PURE RAW POWER AT ONE SPECIFIC THING WHICH IS WHY MY SPORT IS BETTER THAN ALL THE OTHERS!!!! BRAHAHAGJDF GAGAAHUHUU!!!!

nice pun at the end, by the way.

  • Wow

  • "Pro" in triathon = "weekend warrior" in serious sports

  • @gbshaun You're probably a cyclist. Go put some more chamois butter on and practice your souplesse.

  • @handenry I'm a cyclist and I'd take those things as a compliment. Not sure if you understand what souplesse means, but anyone that rides a bike, in any manner, straight line, or with some turns thrown in for difficulty, would benefit from suppleness.

  • @gbshaun cus weekend warriors can run 4:16 min miles on tired legs. riiiight

  • For an age grouper that has had a less than graceful mount at a race, this was a nice reassurance that it even happens to the pro's! Thanks!

  • 0:48. The bike must go on!

  • @tammygoose yeah because driving around a circle behind the wheel of a car is probably a sport to you. Just try to do a triathlon once and then you can comment on whether its a sport or not.

  • any competition where the time it takes to put on your shoes is important should not be considered a sport

  • @tammygoose Anyone who can't use capital letters shouldn't have their opinion considered. Tit.

  • This is over the top, out of control! I can't believe this stuff happens! Maybe they should have a "no cyclocross mounting" rule. Or a put your shoes on first rule. After all the chaos that single yellow shoe sitting is in the road. What person is going to go race their bike without a shoe?

  • now i know why helmets must be buckled before leaving T1

  • Had to watch it again, look at the yellow shoes from 0:28!

  • Fucking hilarious :D
