I use clicker training to teach my birds complex tricks. I recommend reading the Bird-Click Yahoo group, or the books Clicker Training for Birds and The Bird School. I taught my caiques a lot of basic tricks before moving to really complex ones like this one. Good luck!

Thanks! I usually treat with sesame seeds or small pieces of dried banana (her favorite!). I bought the toy online from a now-defunct parrot store. Search for "parrot rings on a peg" to find one.
It took a few weeks, but I only did training sessions every few days. Both of my caiques are experienced clicker trainees, so it's not hard to teach them new tricks. (And it certainly helps that parrots are so smart!)
Cute parrot I love it. I have a Meyers and I'm looking to get a parrot like yours!

It probably took me a dozen short training sessions to teach her that trick. I use clicker training, which works very well on parrots.
