  • Great work!

  • this is my favourite Rae Spoon song. i love the visual piece you added to it

  • this video was made with women in prison in canada.

  • Mannn, this is brilliant. Everything about Rae's voice seems to move you, and the way you present it only adds to the effect.

  • it's the part about the separation from 'mom' that gets me every time...

    ack!

  • Can someone tell the name of the song/artist?

  • Rae Spoon, "We become our own wolves"

  • this is really cool

  • stunning paintings

  • A link to this song, along with the history, was provided in a University of Waterloo social work course. Very poignant yet beautiful.

  • interesting.... the history of what exactly? the prison? or the song? i'm interested in knowing more.

    thank you!

  • wow. this is really good.

  • man i really like this

  • This is very moving. Thank you.

  • Wow-- very acoustic and strangely philanthropic. I love the music you add to the video. It's a bit undiscovered so it adds to the aberrance of it. Great job!

    ^.^ Ali

BTW, I saw this video posted on the dolphin bubbles video, just for ad notes.

music you choose...Thank you, just wonderful!

  • Elizabeth Fry

    A great Quaker

  • Sweet and sensitive. Does this artist have a cd or dvd? Especially like to follow up of "I wish you knew me"

  • thanks. Rae Spoon has 4 or 5 cds out, you can get some of them on itunes. the song from "i wish you knew me" is by a band called Ohbijou and they have a cd too.

  • i finally got a chance to watch it! i especially like the roots drawing part and the "mom" part. the song sounds really great too. yay!

  • you are so talented great songs and animation thank you!!!!

  • looking forward to the live performance of this song. sounds ultimately rural canadian...loving the inflection in '40 below'. great vid J

  • The views will go up from me--it's very touching and makes me think.

  • Beautiful! How do you become honored...this deserves it!

  • thank you... i think you get honors when your video is watched alot or is favorited alot?

  • Honors are objective: like most views, favorites, ratings, etc. It goes by day, week, month, and year.

  • Oh, sorry, this is a reply to mamabluejean. :-D

  • This is gorgeous.

  • this was a really good video and i liked it alot. i love the song too. who sings it.!!?? everything just fell into place really well. i could never make thins kind of viedo but you can do it really well!! woot woot go you!! haha goodjob

  • it is rae spoon singing. glad you enjoyed it!

  • but he hasn't recorded and released this album yet...

  • i enjoyed this :-)

  • i guess it could be helpful to start with easily accessible resources for people at risk and victims of crimes, such as treatment centres... with the amount of money spent on prisons and legal procedures i am sure people could come up with other alternatives. education about how and why people are criminilized would also be helpful.

  • this is really good.

  • thank you kim.

  • would be interested why your working in a womens prison? I get the feeling that you are the kind of person whos big on helping others/servicing the community. Its abeautiful song to choose, and loving your quirky animation once more.

  • the people who are criminalized in canadian society are the poor, first nations people (who are already enduring genocidal colonization tactics), people with mental health problems (so many mental health facilities are closing, pushing people into the streets without resources), people who have been sexually abused or were in abusive relationships, people with addictions, etc. i don't believe prisons are a solution to any of these problems, or any other problems for that matter.

  • i believe prisons are systematicly abusive and oppressive. we are all responsible for their existance and for the lives inside.

so i was in the prison making art with the women, as they have few other activities and i believe art can be a creative survival strategy.

    thanks for the suppport!

  • Before Reagan, there were very few homeless in the US. After Reagan, the homeless were everywhere, most of them suffering from chronic mental illnesses. I hope Canada is not foolish enough to follow in our footsteps.

  • great perspective. whats the alternative to prisons though? different kind of prisons where the focus is differenet, or something completely alternative?

  • Your best work to date. Great job!

  • thank you for your support (and my wrist is okay now too!)

  • Your wrist is better?!?!? Awesome! Maybe that's why everything flows so smoothly. Maybe the women were feeding you some kind of medicinal ice cream?

  • all icecream is medicinal, no?

  • this is amazing! jack watched it too. we both think it is really good. the song by rae, and all the animation is incredible. did rae write the song for the animation? feels like it.

if i still believed in god i would say god bless, but i still want to say bless, bless, bless, bless you.

  • i animated to rae's song actually, using the women's painting and drawings... and a few of my own ideas too!

  • Cool Video. Good Job!!!!

  • Schoene Bilder - Wonderful pictures.

  • danke!
