Would love to hear what the creators of this film have to say about it. After reading the comments here I guess that a lot of people found it beautiful (like myself) and a lot of people on the other hand have found it 'creepy'. I think it's a mixture of both, although I didn't quite get the message that the artists were trying to give. So I'd love to know.
I love how dark and mysterious this is. You can translate this story in many different ways that takes true creativity. This is a kind of dark beauty that is hard to find.
until he loves himself enough, he wont have the need to possess and suffocate others to fulfill his delusion of completeness. i call that being a half circle, being dependent on an outside source other then yourself to complete you, bring you temporary happiness... but once you grow into a full circle, and are happy , you are able to be free and allow everyone else to be free as well.and hopefully u meet another full circle and experience an unselfish love. which is true love.
@validjam To be honest, I'm not sure, but I see it as a scientist is so obsessed with his control that he begins to hallucinate and see his "object of desire" (the angel) and he tries to control her/figure out her secrets, when he cannot, therefor the angel punishes him by killing him. To me it's like saying, "to control the things you cannot will kill you." Does that help explain it? (Of course, it is art, so the meaning is different between every person.)
that was beautiful, yet disturbing. i genuinely don't know whether to run the hell upstairs and dive under the covers, or burst out into applause (though my family will probably look at me like i'm crazy). i think it's a shame that some people can't see the real beauty behind this animation, because it's a real work of art. the story is random yet morbidly fascinating. the classical music with the occasional sound effects- not to mention the lack of color- just wrap it up great.
my life long dream of giving a human being wings was portrayed to me in 11:06 minutes, it takes a great mind to appreciate this video, but it takes an even greater mind to understand the true message behind this and i am afraid that not many will get it including myself, but i will give it thought and decipher it's true meaning
@maronic16 it is Thesians the anannaki.....or the alpha draconians....shapeshifting......they are trying to tell humanity something..???? i think so..
This is one of those clips where some people can the absolute beauty and creativity in this but most, sadly see it as creepy or nightmarish. I believe this clip has some much beauty that I feel sorry for the people can't see that. Beautiful art and story
@An1k1kun The Tripletts of Belleville by Chomet is very much like this. I recognize the artistic style of Tof B from watching this little film in 2008. I am hunting around for more. I love this stuff. Hard to find things this sophisticated, artistic, elegant, and intelligent.. I especially like that it is silent and is full of social commentary, which is also the case with Tripletts of Belleville.
love is like a bird , you cant make someone wings to fly and feel free in love, you have to make them room and give them freedom. This man is selfish in love, but he knows that she don't want him, so he made wings for her ,he turned her into bird to feel free - but all she wanted is freedom, and he kept her inside, and when she left him..., well, you saw .., excellent work ...,remember: "it takes two to make love, two o make a life"
Is there any way I can get the creator's contact info? An email address or anything? I'd like to talk to him about maybe collaborating on a future project.
@stkerber86 if i've understand it as well, this man loves his woman to the perfection, he think that she is an angel, and he wants to make wings for her, and he is like in a prison of this obsession
Very deep and rather intriguing. I liked the concept, animation style, music, and the over-all psychological invisionment. It can't get any better than this. ;-)
775gary I don't believe in god or heaven as real entities. I think that heaven is a projection of what each of us would like in an idyllic state. Also, I was joking. :-)
I suspect you disagree. I respect your right to your opinion, and I hope that you respect mine. Be well.
@Jonxwood who ever said heaven was there to please your selfish needs? heaven is not how you want it to be in your image, but rather is there as something you will never reach greather than you in every way and more important than you in every sense
@AntonIceChill True, I wonder why that is? Perhaps there is some significance to that... the only thing with color is used to bind the living organism.
At 5:00, when the lady walks in through the window, and how she looks so human in this 2 dimensional world, it made me think about the games Myst and Riven, by how there is never any dialogue and by the unfluid movements of the woman.
Great video, and to the magician who made this magic.
@briancallanan Um no, I'm British, and (I'm guessing you're American?) since your language came from us, 'color' is actually spelt 'colour'. So no, I don't mean anything else.
(In the early 18th century, English spelling was not standardized. Differences became noticeable after the publishing of influential dictionaries. Current British English spellings follow, for the most part, those of Samuel Johnson's A Dictionary of the English Language (1755), whereas many American English spellings follow Noah Webster's An American Dictionary of the English Language (1828) So depending on were u live in the world English is not the same .
@chastonsdad I didn't read your comment, because I don't give a shit. I said it 4 months ago, and I stand by it. The time it took to write that is in vain - I just don't care. I really, really don't.

If you didnt "give a shit" you wouldn't have said 'color' is actually spelt 'colour' . American use Z instead of S in words as well & spell mum as mom instead. =^.^=
