@validjam To be honest, I'm not sure, but I see it as a scientist is so obsessed with his control that he begins to hallucinate and see his "object of desire" (the angel) and he tries to control her/figure out her secrets, when he cannot, therefor the angel punishes him by killing him. To me it's like saying, "to control the things you cannot will kill you." Does that help explain it? (Of course, it is art, so the meaning is different between every person.)

that was beautiful, yet disturbing. i genuinely don't know whether to run the hell upstairs and dive under the covers, or burst out into applause (though my family will probably look at me like i'm crazy). i think it's a shame that some people can't see the real beauty behind this animation, because it's a real work of art. the story is random yet morbidly fascinating. the classical music with the occasional sound effects- not to mention the lack of color- just wrap it up great.

I love this stuff. Hard to find things this sophisticated, artistic, elegant, and intelligent.. I especially like that it is silent and is full of social commentary, which is also the case with Tripletts of Belleville.
