great stuff. many people are really interested in astronomy but ended up as a cop, lunch lady, pilot....you know what i'm saying. thanks for doing all the hard work and sharing.
@Kg277 Well, we're still unevolved monkeys. As usual the lower head gets precedence over the upper one. My question is : Why these two videos show relevance in UT?
I was monitoring N2YO until I went to bed at midnight despite USA and Russia having reported that it had re-entered. At 23:52, IT was at 73.16Mi, and 4.71Mi per sec. I have become slightly confused. Who do I believe?
Good coverage of the reentry guys. Some additional thoughts: On reentry drag, rel. velocity of sat and atmosphere might also play a role. Atm rotates with Earth. Actual reentry time suggests it came down after passing a "descending node." Thermal gradients might contribute to sat breakup. Re impact chains, comets passing within the Roche limit is another possibility (Shoemaker-Levy).
I don't really care for the Grunt coming down either. But who needs a reason to party? All the other things they are talking about make more than up for it.

@Schisme, There's nothing actually significant about this (other than the failure but that happened months ago). This is more in the category of fun.

You should do this more often.

Maybe someone can clarify this for me, but I'm failing to see the significance of this event.
