  • Thank you for this fantastic video!

  • I was viewing other Ochem videos until finally...there is was on the side bar.... "khanacademy"....I was in heaven. He's like a brand..Nike, Microsoft,...but much more reliable. My search is over

  • As a note (I assume it will be covered in a later video anyway): the "octane" from the gas station is actually 2,2,4-Trimethylpentan, an isomer of octane. It has the same number of carbon and hydrogen atoms as the real octane, also no double bonds or cycles. But instead of a linear chain it has branches.

  • @superdau Its actually a mixture of the two (after reading the wiki article :)). Thus, the 'octane rating' is abundance of n-octane compared to and 2,2,4-trimethylpentane.

  • Thanks! Great refresher on the topic.

  • Wow, I haven't seen chemistry in 4 years (and I'm also not so smart), but Sal's amazing teaching style made this so easy for me to understand.

  • Ahh organic finally =)

  • 1st woo hoo
