  • Love the music :)

Makes more enjoyable to do the project with music like that...

    AC/DC, Yeah!

  • what is the title of the music =) ?

  • AC/DC - TNT

  • friends i need a help from all of u.........i dnt have practical knowledge on making a dc generator.....but i have buk knowledge so friends please help how to construct it......i have a project work in my college.....

  • Love to watch your project, that is the great wind turbine. Do you still hand out copies of the project, here in British Columbia wind might substitute my high electricity cost. I have a 1.5kW inverter that I used in my van with 225A alternator and was running 2 deep freezers size 22qfeet. Was able to run one for good 6 hours just off the 850 crank Amps car battery.

    Please E-mail me:

  • I sure hope you main shaft is large enough. I had an 8 footer that made a 1/2" steel shaft bend in high winds. Nice project

  • It looks like your rotor has 16 magnets on one side and 8 magnets on the other. Why? Also, they appear to be different shapes on either side?

  • the text in your video sounds like you have an industrial management/electrical engineering background...do you have the generator up and running?

  • Good guess. I do electical maintenance in a power company generation department.

Yes, its been running for almost 3 years now with no breakdowns.

  • really interesting

  • Well done..

  • DUDE I THINK IM GONNA MAKE A MANUAL FOR MINE. CAUSE NOBODY SENT ME ANY MONEY EITHER. A $5 PDF WILL WORK. OH YA HAWT IS DEPENDABLE AND EASY BUT IS A DRAG MACHINE AND REQUIRES GEARING AND POWER LOSS. VAWT CANGET DANGERUOS WITH PVC. IPREFER TO CARVE OUT OF LIGHT WEIGHT WOOD TO 3 DEGREES FOR A TIP SPEED RATIO OF 4.5 . YOU MIGHT CONSIDER AN AUTOMATIC SWITCHING MECHANISM FOR Y AND DELTA FOR HIGH WIND. LOVE THE VID 5 STAR. I THINK THE NEOs WILL GIVE YOU CHARGING VOLTAGE IN LOWER WIND. BLOOKIN 4 Ur PDF.

  • what kind of power are you producing with this little genie

  • tho looks like u know ur stuff... can i "re-work" a 3 phase MOTOR into a generator? also, im thinking to use an old 10 speed frame and gears... low wind 10th, high wind 1st or 2nd ...what do u think

  • really 6 mag's for 6 coils isnt it?

  • each set of 2 coils are connected in series to make 3 phases. On this generator I have connected the generator in star which gives more voltage and less current. I could have connected it a number of ways. There are 8 magnets which create 4 pairs of poles. This makes a 4 pole feild. I used a plan found on the internet and therefore never bothered figuring out the timing of the magnets related to the coils. (Actually there are 16 magnets total because there is na identical rotor feild either side

  • just curious why do you have 6 coils but 8 magnets in your axial flux alt.?

  • nice!

  • cant we all just give each other a dollar

  • Has anyone actually sent you money yet? I am also experimenting in wind power, and could also use the donations, I am a bit behind you though, I dont have a video camera yet ;)

  • No, I never recieved any money and I wasn't expecting any. What kind of stuff are you doing? Ive got a vertical shaft unit half built. I'll probably finish it this winter.

    Regards

  • that's fantastic !! I'm thinking of taking a bit of a shortcut and using an alternator. any disadvantages to that ?

  • The disadvantage to an alternator is the efficiency. You must provide power to the field to create an electromagnet as oposed to the PMG which uses permanent magnets. I don't know what minimum speed an alternator needs to run at, but if you have to gear up you will also loose some efficiency. Other people have done it so I'm sure it will work

  • thank you, I found some other info too.

  • Do you have a manual or so that you may sell so I can build one myself?

  • yeah....a longer vid would be cool...I want to hear the whole song of AC/DC's "TNT....it's dynamite!!" ...rofl

  • Please post another longer video of how you made all of it and assembled it, I just bought magnets of Ebay (Rare Earth) and i need to know how it's made sights with pictures aren't good enough, PLEASE!!!!!!!

    Thanks

  • Nice work!

    Beautiful stator!

  • Thanks

  • how much did the magnets cost you?

  • Can't remember. They are ferrite instead of rare earth. I think they cost about $25 for the whole set. I just purchased some good rare earth ones for about $70.

  • Hi nice work on your wind generator

In the video have 6 coils 75 turns but can you please let me know the gauge of the wire? Thanks

  • This one is 16 gauge. Works ok for my application, if you were after more than 300 watts or so I'd go up a size. Not due to over heating but do to the amount of power consumed. There are good sites with plans free on the internet.

  • If your thinking of making one, the generator should be sized to the turbine. I didn't understand this at first but lucked out and got a good match.

  • Save your arm, go vertical!

  • That's funny (about the arm). Do you have a good vertical design I could try? Vertical would simplify things alot.

  • There are lift types using aerofoils or drag types often using plain old PVC pipe, just search for "VAWT"

  • Look under "vawt-new vertical axis wind turbine" and check out that design. I wonder if one could run a cable-drive (like they use in weedeaters) to connect the vawt to the horizontal blade to boost it at low speeds?

  • hey whats the song at the very very start of the vid..lik from 0:00 to 0:06??

  • Tnt-DYNIMAITE ACDC-AUSSIE BAND.dEAD FAMOUS!

  • Not dead.. yet. This is pure rock´n´roll.

  • LOl true true
