  • poor beautiful thing :(

  • thats no oar fish thats a pokemon!

  • this video is so sad, oarfish are so beautiful and mysterious.

    This makes me sad

  • well that stupid why would they put that in the tank it needs 250 or more to survive

  • It's gonna die it can't live in that shallow water it needs 250 feet or more of depth to survive

  • Possibly the genetic connection to the Skyfish or Rods ?

Insects are said to be related to sea creatures such as crustaceans/arthropods

  • sushi?

  • Fuck you whale! And Fuck you oarfish!!!!!

  • Jesus Christ Japan! Oarfish, frilled shark, what other rare deep sea fish are u going to kill!

  • very sad

  • one problem all these deep sea fish have in aquarium is they can't handle the light (it was proven by some squid research group) and the water is much too warm for them in most large aquarium tanks.

  • The fish looking dying. It swim at abnormal way.

  • motherfucking brainless japanese torturing animal again... for fuck sake end its misery! the only way u idiots caught it was because it was already floating on the top of the sea ready to die. u just HAD to make the painful death LONGER...

  • el humano nunca esta conforme con nada, siempre quiere saber todo y controlarlo.

lo que me gusta del mundo es que el humano no conoce ni la mitad de las cosas, asi no las puede controlar y abusar de ellas.

  • Why do the Japanese get away with animal abuse all the time?

  • @bloocuttlefish watch the movie called the cove i think its on you tube in shorts... it really breaks it down for you with japan and animal abuse

  • To everyone crying about animal abuse, come on people. We murder cattle for hamburgers and eat the eggs of chickens. We buy fish for our tanks and we have animals for pets. Even if someone went deep down 3k feet beneath the surface and stole this Oarfish and brought it up to the surface, so what? The people could have been a predator and just ate the oarfish. It got caught before it was too close to surface or not sneaky enough. Strong survive, and only people cry.

  • @Skycrusher Or more aptly in a human sense - lawmakers survive, and they do so by implementing their opinions. So by the same token those who are 'crying' about animal abuse - being people with opinions too - could feasibly one day also implement their opinion and make changes in the general perceptions and actions of others. Altruism and the ability to socialise is, after all, what made the human species evolve so efficiently. That altruism has changed the behaviours and practices of many.

  • @RGHughson It sounds so nice on paper, but in practice....

  • thialand only it are monster

can eat can eat !!!!!! hahahaha

  • mantra "om mani padme hum"

  • Deep sea fishes are usually black or red color, and luminescent, and small size duo to lack of energy. Only cretaceous living in the very deep (> 1000m underwater) will have large body size for unknown reason.

In contrary, fishes in open water will usually have silver body color and large body size.

  • Even if it is very alive, the fins of deep sea fishes are not as effective as fishes living in the shallow water. And I never saw any scientific reports, ichthyology textbooks or journal papers saying that oarfishes are living in the deep sea. In fact, based on its anatomy, I personally think it would hardly be a deep sea fish, but very much likely lives in open water full of plankton.

  • really looks like a chinese dragon

  • Their stupid, the fish is dying

  • deepsea animals wont last long on this invironment ^,..,^ Imagine a man with out a space suit walking on the moon even if Yes he has food, yes he has oxygen tanks to breath, yes he has shades for the sun light, etc etc. but he will die cause the preasure is diferent Hight to nothing or on this topic high to low preasure

  • Deep sea fish like these usually only come to the surface when they are sick and ready to die,I don't see why people are all upset about it when it was already getting ready to die when they found it.

  • the oarfish is dying

  • I hope the fish can learn to adapt to the aquarium...

  • even though i'm japanese, i can't agree with it...how egoistic

  • THE OARFISH LOOKS SICK.

LEAVE THE FISH ALONE! YOU SICK HUMAN.

I HOPE THE FISH DON'T END TO BE SUSHI!

  • @JuburiAnwar

Those fishes aren't used for sushi.

But thanks for not saying anything racist like "POS Japanese!"

  • I don't see what the big deal is. These guys come to the surface when they are sick or dieing. From and educational standpoint, this is amazing that they put this beast on display. Granted it was only for a short period of time, but having the ability to see one of these magnificent deep ocean creatures (for the time being) alive is amazing. Seeing it's beauty from an internet video just doesn't cut it.

  • it looks like haku from spirited away *-*

  • and that doesn't even touch what "we" do to less intelligent animals. I'm not saying I agree with eating dolphins, nor with the things that we do. But you guys need to check yourselves on the racism and cultural differences.

  • Wow.. there's some ignorant people, not at all shy about their racism on here. If the actions of a few Japanese people represent all Japanese people, you don't want to know what the rest of the world thinks of us Americans. Further, some may "eat dolphins," but I assume your only problem with that is that they're one of the most intelligent animals.. well, we eat pigs, octopi, and birds.. and kill rodents (squirrels, rats, mice), and birds for sport or as pests, and those are also intelligent.

  • 海外の人たち、怒ってるようです~

    浅いところに連れて来られて苦しみながら死んでいくのを見世物にして喜んでる!と

People're not notice the fish being in DESTRESS.

    まぁ、珍しいもの見せて頂いて良かったですけど。

  • lol it doesn't look very happy xP

but i'm sure the professionals know what they're doing. they wouldn't just toss a random fish into an aquarium without doing research first. hell for all we know this fish could have been raised by humans from birth

  • they only come to the surface to die...this is fucked

    people are shit

  • @imnofun1

I'm glad you didn't make a racist comment. Though I can inform you that Oarfish is not dying. You can tell by the movements of it's "fins". This one is very much very alive. The ones that people usually see (dying ones) the "fins" are hardly moving let alone move as much as the one in the video. That's why they end up on the shores in thailand or near rocks because their fins aren't strong enough to swim.

    Hope that helped!! :)

But I do agree... People are shit.

  • @JayteePhandango Wtf are you TALKING about? The fins are HARDLY moving. You'd think that the fins would be MORE "lively" than that if it was truly "ALIVE." Compared to the stingray's "wings," that is, the oarfish's fins are slower.

I mean, srsly, it's "rare to bee seen" for a reason. If it wasn't, swimmers would be seeing this thing like a shark attracted to crowds in a thrash-ridden beach.

  • The sad fact is that Oarfish only ever come to shallower water when they are dying:(

That poor creature is suffering just for the viewing pleasure of a few people who almost certainly is not aware of the animal being in distress:(

  • the oarfish lives in deep sea, they are use to high water pressure, that beautifull fish you are looking right there, its suffering, not matter how clean the water is nor if its eating "great" but, its body isn't made for surface, such a beautifull fish shouldn't be there, it is not the oarfish's habitat ......hope that answer questions...and yes they usually come to the surface when they are sick or dying hopefully that 1 gets use to the surface or it is good as dead :(...

  • @AlfredjV91 That was an eel

  • Please, I don't understand...aren't they only able to live in deep sea habitats?

  • @Bonbondoodle sort of, its kind of ritual i guess for when they go to the surface to die, similar to frilled sharks

  • Another vid had one of these things swimming belly up in the Gulf of Mexico in it's natural habitat (via an ROV feed). I guess I'm just too used to that meaning a bad thing, but presumably it's normal behavior(?).

Awesome organism though, that's for sure.

  • Why does this make me feel like watching finding nemo? O_o

  • this title should be "kinda living oarfish"

  • its soooo beautiful!

  • one of god's beatiful creations

  • is it dieing?

  • @R4nd0m27 im pretty sure these fish natural behavior is to lowly and sluggishly drift. although they do control there direction.

  • @ermaclob

if not mistaken they are deep sea creatures, only reach surface when sick or dying

  • there must be some people in the audience who were thinking about sushi haha

  • People " oh chin chong chong ...oooo yummy....hehehe ching ching I have small penis"

  • He is in Japan, it's either this or get eaten like the dolphins.

  • @Ilovezebrapig and like every other living, breathing, moving, thinking, blinking, looking animal in Japan

  • this thing died 34minutes later.

  • @junpeif80 wrong. he was cooked 34 minutes later and served at a restraunt.

  • that thing rocks XD Its a shame there are so few sightings in the wild

  • i hear people yelling "YUM!!!" o-0 sickos...

  • I think it said died in 34 minutes

  • I guess it wont stay alive for very long time, since it said its a deep water fish.

  • ...And sorry about my eng, i know it sucks a bit, but i guess i've made my point there!

And release the poor fish from the tank, like the did with Willy(the Orca)!! xD

Cos watchin this vid is really annoyin with all those people yelling, like, "Look! The fish it's swiming and doubling himself! Ow..So beautiful!". Urgh..just annoying!!!

  • ...And i wonder somethin?! How did they catch an Oarfish?! Probably with those high-tech shit they have, maybe they have invented somethin that can dive, and hold the pressure of the ocean without smashin or breakin the gadget, and could bring things from the bottom of the ocean like they did, with all those pics we are tired to see, from the poor sinked Titanic!

And just wait guys, and you'll someday probably see Oarfish canned-food!! xD...

  • ...But my thought about it is, the human who had the opportunity to see one of this, would never forget about the day when he saw one, and pray for one day, he can see one Oarfish again. And things should be like this, not catch a fish just to attract people to a aquarium, just to make some greens!

And all this people photographin and admirin the fish! Brrr... :P

I know what they want!! They just want to taste a little bit of him like they do with the wales meet!...

  • Fucking stupid people!!

Why don't they just free the poor fish into the ocean so he can swim freely, instead of puttin im on a tank without the water pressure that exists on the depths of the ocean!

Cos lookin to that poor fish tryin to escape from there, makes me cry, and revolts me the way that people admire it.

And i know this fish is extremely rare to the human eyes, and really, really beautiful too, that makes me think he's a gods pet or somethin for the extreme beauty that he has....

  • ・・・っておい!死んじゃったのか・・

  • all i hear i people shouting cool >_>

  • 泳ぎ方wwwwwwwちょwwwwwwwwwwwwww

  • まさかの地元(笑)

  • It' dying! Why put it in a shallow tank?? It lives in deeper waters.

  • もう死にかけですね

  • When it was captured, almost dying.

  • It does look like it's dying... probably not nearly enough water pressure for it, etc. Amazing to see this clear an image though.

  • totoooo cotosaniii nazijapan oooh

  • .... It looks like it's dying. Should it be in such a lit enclosure, seeing as it is a deep sea creature?

  • It could be old age?
