A 1962 Mr.whippy commer karrier has been located in wales and is currently being restored to its former glory it was transported back to a garage in dunston gateshead tyne and wear it will be a labour of love and will take ages to complete mr.whippy as are mister softee commer karriers allmost extinct sadly these days they were fantastic vehicles and deserve to be saved

thanks this van is a one owner rebuilt by d cummings & sons very neer completion still has the old greensleeves tune i reckon i will have her on the road by end august cant wait what a task dunston van& truck centre tyne &wear

we were served well on the streets of south west london in the arly 1960s by both mister softee and MR.whippy commer karrier vans my favourite being Mr.whippy 167 171 173 193 194 DXE were all from the same batch some from the croydon area and some from queensway whata shame only a few have survived today magnicificent vehicles that had charm from an era sadly gone

832 BVN was our local commer ice cream van of this style ,it still came round in the 1970s,and was sitting in a garden in aberdeen up until the early 90s.

i think that is very very sad , i do like new ice cream vans but there was something very special about the old commers , bedfords and b.m.c vans that used to roam our housing estates selling their wares. i live in leicester and there's a 1967 morris fg fish &chip saloon that goes round the north of the county. but the oldest ice cream van i've seen to date is a bedford cf .

from d cummings keiths vans are located in tamworth but one did come from masserellas doncaster regards the old mr whippy man dunston van and truck centre
