it's ironic how they rode through all these "dangerous" places (areas of the former soviet bloc, kazakhstan, road of bones, etc.) and they almost die on paved roads in developed countries. the trip kind of shows how humans have basically conquered nature to the point where the greatest danger to our lives are each other

@lemayelaine you're absolutely right about Canada, but I don't think they went through BC. Just look at their traveling route, and you'll see. Plus, if there's nothing exciting (such as those accidents or the river crossings in Siberia), then they didn't concentrate. That's why we got so little of Canada. I mean the "excitement factor" of the ride through there was so low (starting from Alaska) that they had to film other activities to keep the interest levels up.

Man, what a downright shame; They rode all the way to North Dakota to see Mt Rushmore, but missed something nearby of FAR greater interest & significance, the Crazy Horse Monument work-in-progress, imagined and started by an eccentric Polish maverick, Korjak Zialkowski whose artistic vision & sense of respect & honor for the Native American culture is consistent with Ewen and Charlie's own sensibilities, love for people, hopes of peace & appreciation for all nations, tribes & cultures.

Korziak (sp?) began his Crazy Horse project sometime back in the 80s at LEAST -- IIRC, it's been a 30+ year work-in-progress, now being continued by his passel of children. I betcha there's a youtube vid or several about it.
