Ever wonder how his guitar stays in tune after so much use of the tremelo bar? If there's a real solution, please let me know. Otherwise, this man is one my great idols. So much soul in his playing. Quite the inspiration!
What is wrong with his voice? I've seen too many times to remember him like this. Greatest guitar player ever, but he has lost his voice. Take Roger's voice any day.
@user65961it's interesting that lots of people told me that PF music makes them depressed and thinking about suicide, even altough they´re fans of PF! When you are stoned by weed, it´s truly weird experience to listen this kind of a music
I would have given up a HUGE amount of change to have been at this show! Hell, i would have paid hundreds just to stand outside and watch it on monitors! Those are some lucky, lucky humans in that audience, I must say. I wounder how many of them actually know how fortunate they were to be that close to musical legends, Gilmour in particular.
@technocrash09 Sorry, I realised after I wrote it that I had not expanded the notes under the video, which would have explained it to me! Cheers though.
@technocrash09 Someone else probably said this already, but just in case they haven't, that's Pino Palladino on bass. Makes Prince Charles look so unhip it's a wonder his legs haven't fallen off.
@technocrash09 Right on! Dave makes it look all too easy but most of us would get to take 55 before giving up and pressing play on one of his versions
@technocrash09 Say it to yourself next time. To say Sir David sucks is like saying Justin Bieber is a music legend. If he doesn't float your boat, look elsewhere. Life is about choice!
@Seanus32 First off, I would never say Gilmour sucks in a million years! I was responding to ljwjfac. He asked who the DRUMMER was. I said (if you would care to read before replying) "I don't know but he sucks..." referring to the drummer....and he does compared to Nick Mason and many others.
Secondly, you need to understand what you are replying to and about before you dis somebody, dick-wad!
@technocrash09 You have a few years on me, then :) With age comes wisdom, they say. Either that or an acid-fizzled brain ;) Sorry again for rushing to a petulant judgement. Floyd fans tend to be a mellow bunch and there is much mutual appreciation!
@technocrash09 I know that feeling. The weather is really conducive to headaches here in Poland. Bad days are natural.
MOST of the time, agreed :) We are human, after all. Btw, are you a critic of AMLOR (1987)? I happen to think that it has some of their better songs on it and it lended itself to live treatment on DSOT. On The Turning Away, for example, is a superb statement!
@Seanus32 I love just about everything they have ever done. Amimals and AMLOR are prolly my favorites although it is really difficult to say. Every CD has something on it I like so that makes every CD my #1. On The Turning Away, Sorrow and Coming Back To Life are the most recent favorites of mine.
@Seanus32 ....Therefore, go back----read the post by ljwjfac a couple pages back (who's the drummer?) (Which, I might add, had nothing to do with involving you in the conversation anyways), then re-read my reply to him. THEN see how wrong you were in dis-ing me about DG, whom I admire beyond words. And FINALLY, say it to YOURself.
Sorry to say that... I don't enjoy this version as much as I should.
Gilmour himself is as good as always, but you can tell he's not with the right people. Also, cut out outro, way too short solo, the keyboard is weak... What the hell? I'll go back to my PULSE version. Now THAT was flabbergasting.
Y'know... I love this song and it's a nice enough version but you can very much tell that the band backing him up . the keyboard player - doesn't "get" the feel of the intro to the song. It's so obvious it almost pains me to see him play with these guys (no offense meant of course). Then again this IS more of a festival so I guess they were pressed for time. Still awesome of course!!! :D
Sorrow has never been a favourite Floyd track of mine, in fact I've always found it a bit boring, however I found this version refreshing even though the drummer arsed it up at 6.19 . David continued like a true pro. Nice to see Phil playing with David again.
Long live David Gilmour, Can you just do another Concert in Vancouver? i would love to hear you play Echoes again Live this time and hear me cry of joy listening to you playing those wonderful music and your guitar streaming this wonderful sound to my ears
