The first GREAT real vocal jazz group. Absolutely unique and great!. Musical director Mimi Perrin even put lyrics to all ORIGINAL JAZZ INSTRUMENTAL SOLOS, which were painfully transcribed from the original recordings, and later sang by the singer who better suited the register of the original instrument.
Later on, the group split into two: Mimi Perrin sticked to her trademark DoubleSix, and tenor/arranger Ward Swingle went on to form "The Swingle Singers", with classical music.
