I guess Filatov would be an exception since the rule is based on guys played for entry level salary contributing for you. We don't make a run unless either 1 or probably 2 of Hodgson, Shirokov or Schroeder make the team. You used to be able to win with one big line, now you need at least 2, likely 3, and you need a significant contribution from guys making peanuts.

Erhoff will probably have to play for his career in Van this year if he wants to stay. If he doesn't it's off to the minors until we trade him next season.

As heartless as this is, it's a business as well as a sport, and that's how we roll.

Bieksa will probably be traded for a draft pick or prospect if anything. The Canucks are backed up against the salary cap wall and have to create wiggle room which means no Willie Mitchell and Bieksa gone.

@2WIREG the 40 win season doesn't mean much to luongo when you consider the fact that we were the second highest scoring team in the league. luongo himself even admitted he was having consistency issues. he was pulled like 8 times (not to mention all the games where AV decided not to pull him even though he sucked). blame the defense all you want, but as a team captain and a world class goaltender, you NEED to step up your game and carry your team through the playoffs.

Wasn't really a discount. It was a fair contract. It's either he took 25M over the course of 5 years or he took 27M over the course of 6 years. There was more money in the 6 year deal and despite him making less money per year than from the other deals given to him, he was simply GUARANTEED more money. Also Hamhuis has an NTC I believe. So nah, it wasn't really a discount, but it was a hell of a signing thats for sure
