  • The big problem with downloading music is that nobody's going to really listen if you tell them not to. Entertainers are paid quite a bit. I mean, look at professional athletes and whatnot. They're paid huge amounts of money just to play a game. While I'd still rather buy music, that's just the way that I've been brought up, and it's a bit different when you've met musicians (I'd never pirate a Laurence Juber CD, for instance.), but downloading isn't something we can really prevent like this.

  • It is a good advice I am gonna get a gun and steal whatever the fuck i want. Except his music of course, I dont like it

  • I don't get it, if he is being facetious and actually wants me to not steal things, then does that mean he wants me to quit school and do drugs?

  • there's only one kid rock song where he doesnt mention his own name at least 8 times, and it basically rips off lynyrd skynrd and fleetwood mac.

  • This is just Kid Rock being pissed that no one buys his music anymore, not cause they're downloading it. but because it's complete shit

  • Because stealing physical objects is the exact same thing as downloading.

    Fucking idiot.

  • @LarryBundyJr yup.

  • who the fuck listens to kid rock anyway? probably the fat guy who got fucked in the ass in "Deliverance" and the guy doing the fucking, "theyre rich anyway" well you know what? fuck all of them, most CD's now a days are shit, 1 maybe 2 good songs and the rest is shit fuck those corporate niggers, "steve jobs is rich too" well no shit his products break 9 months after you buy them so you have to buy another, hell just buy a stolen one on Ebay and tell them to fuck themselves, assholes

  • Musicians and, more importantly, record companies have got to understand that the party is over. The days when they could justify platinum plated Rolls Royces and French Palaces through selling plastic discs are OVER. Their business model is as outdated as 45rpm singles. Bankrupting grannies and suing kids for $millions is just plain wrong. If a musician wants my £25 he better put on a show and entertain me for an evening, not just try to sell me a shiny mini-frisbee.

  • Its a shame that this video proves kid rock is the bigget faggot ever and full of intellectual fail

  • if you make good music/movies/whatever ppl will gladly pay for it, even though they can have it for free

so if you don't make money, don't blame the internet piracy, blame your shitty product

come to think of it: even shitty movies like x-men orignis: wolverine make buttloads of money

and that particular movie was leaked to the internet A WHOLE MONTH BEFORE OFFICIAL THEATRE-RELEASE!

  • The moment he said "level the playing field" I realized immediately that this moron is talking shit.

  • >Kid Rock implying that intellectual property=actual property, which is clearly wrong.

  • Hey Kid Rock, if I burn a CD of your shitty music and give it to my friend (not saying he'd want it) but hypothetically speaking isn't that considered stealing by your logic? What if I don't want your shitty music and I just give it to him? Why not make CD burners, cassette and VHS recorders illegal too? Fuck it, let's outlaw mp3 and all other digital media outright.

Let's go further and just make digital camcorders illegal since they're used to make bootleg DVD's. (fucking moron)

  • @necronomicon009 I can give you an original I found on the street a while back, I can also throw in some "Puddle of Mud" and "Limp Bizkit" CD's that came in the same case hahahaha that way you dont have to steal shitty music

  • kid rock is by far the best person to use for such a ridiculous psa

  • I like this logic. I'm going to go, steal a gun, and pirate the lives of millions of people.

  • Actually, I was about to write a long comment with explanations and everything, but i can't resist a temptation just to say: "fuck you, kid". When you steal shoes, you take them, when you download music it stays on servers. Your mind can't come up with a good example even. BTW you're still rich in the age of torrents, right? How come?

  • Stealing is taking a property from one party, and said party no longer has the resource. No one is "stealing" music. Music cannot be bought and sold.

Sue and blame Apple for inventing the iPod and kickstarting the digital revolution. Get a new business model, or just lose more money fighting a fruitless war against Piracy. It's never going away. Especially with so many talentless hacks out there. Sorry if people are not willing to pay money for bullshit they don't like.

  • I pretty much buy all my music legally. However, I go out of my to illegally download every Dr.Dre song I can find due to the fact I was banned from Napster for having one of his songs donwloaded. I don't even really like rap or Dre that much but I own everything he's released...illegally. Yeah take that

  • This is probably the only smart thing Kid Cock has ever said.

  • This is probably the only smart thing Kid Cock has ever said.

  • Anyone noticing all the advertisements?

  • What's kind of strange actually is that I generally feel MORE inclined to give an artist money if they're LESS draconian about their intellectual property rights. What about you guys?

  • @CrazyCheeseMagee Absolutely. Most of the music I listen to have come from pirating music or CD swapping with friends. If I really like the music, I would go out and buy their album/merch and support them.

If corporate cunts like these guys get their wish, the entire music industry would collapse save for top 40/major label garbage. Many underground artists rely on free downloads to get their popularity and these guys are just making it harder for them to be heard.

  • Then again, even if you still believe strongly in private ownership of the means of production, there's a difference between intellectual property (like a song) and physical property (like a car, shoes, a laptop, or an ipod).

Plenty of artists, such as Jonathan Coulton, Anamanaguchi, and Immortal Technique, give out at least some of their music for free. And they seem to be doing okay to say the least.

  • There could be no such thing at landed property originally. Man did not make the earth, and though he had a natural right to occupy it, he had no right to locate as his property in perpetuity any part of it; neither did the Creator of the earth open a land-office, from whence the first title-deeds should issue.

    ---Thomas Paine, Agrarian Justice

  • Coming from an "artist" whose music is so bad that not only would I not pay for it but he would have to pay ME in order to download it.

And even so, private property is a societal construct anyway. Many Native American tribes had no concept of land ownership for example. That deal between the Lenape Indians and Peter Minuit where Minuit gave them trinkets in exchange for what is now Manhattan was a scam because the Lenape couldn't comprehend the idea of owning land.

  • I wouldn't DL his shitty "music", that's for sure.

  • Someday we will have replicators like in star trek, and i will be able to pirate a car.

  • What a wanker...

  • He's an idiot... So not the same thing...They dont make money off of songs anyway they make money off of concerts, apperances, merch, endorsments, ect..... I'm not going to feel sorry for him when he has millions and others dont have homes or food. Just love it when rich people bitch about things...Idiot!

  • Digital content is infinitely reproduce-able. Bad comparisons Kid. You make cash by exploiting the scarcities (your cruises for example, the scarcity you can monetize is your personal time with fans). That is how musicians need to think. The days of making money directly from songs themselves has ended. Trying to guilt the masses isn't a good tactic. But by all means, give t a shot....

  • @Wickedashtray Are you saying Tommy Hillfiger jeans made by an 8 year old in Taiwan for a salary of 10 cents an hour aren't reproduceable?

  • @Cainus44 I am offended by your racist comments. Are you implying that Taiwanese slave children don't make quality jeans?

  • @Q8379 Kind of. They usually don't handle being washed all that well for the $70 you pay for a pair. Honestly if I want to pay 700 times the production cost for a brand, I expect quality.

  • @Cainus44 Well you know how it is, you start feeding them and they start asking for more and more confort. If you spoil them too much with humane working conditions, they start getting slow and unproductive.

  • @Q8379 Yeah, I see your point. I just wish they would whip them harder so the pants don't fall apart in a stiff breeze.

  • @Cainus44 Well, I'm currently developing a buzzer system that sends an electric shock to children when their posture reaches a certain angle (meaning that they are starting to fall asleep from exhaustion and malnutrition) hence improving their dedication to bringing quality jeans to rich white people.

  • @Q8379 You sir, are a genius.

  • @Cainus44 "Hey! What are you doing on YouTube, boy? Get back to the sulphur mines!"

  • idiot, downloading music is not stealing

do not ever put those things together

  • Sarcastic or not hes got the right idea

  • Man had a point. How much benefit does society get from making people rich when they don't have to pay taxes due to loop holes for the corporations and hiding stuff offshore? At least the artists have to calculate how much they loose, like Bruce Campbell said in his autobiography "If chins could kill: Confessions of a B-movie actor." with the chapter "Anatomy of a pay check". Between all the taxes, an agent, an ex-wife and needing to live in Hollywood for work, $500K = $42K a year for 2 years

  • some people will take this literally!!!

  • Sarcasm...

  • AIDS

  • Thing is, if I download your shit music the original is still there, if I steal the car the car is gone: it cannot be copied. Kid Rock is confirmed for fucking retarded.

  • @lesleyhenriquez *Ahem* If you didn't notice, this is satire.

  • Thanks, Kid rock! I was questioning myself morally about whether or not I should steal that Hyundai Genesis but damn, if you say it's okay i'll just tell the cops you said I could have it.

    THANKS KID ROCK!

  • God does not suck. You suck Kid Rock!

  • There's no such thing as right or wrong.

  • Lol this guy is hilarious. Anyone who follows his advice has serious problems. I mean, seriously. People cant bitch about him giving bad advice. Its your problem if you follow his word. He is right about companies not missing one item or 2 out of their HUGE profit, but stealing is wrong. He is right on the fact that downloading music isnt bad since record companies today make thousands of dollars a day, but stealing stuff is just plain wrong. Now I download Kid Rocks music without hesitation :P

  • do that kind of crap is bad it teaches others to do the same

  • I in all seriousness do fully support stealing from any and all corporations, or anyone really above middle class. Really.

  • Fuck this guy

  • Nobody wants to download his shit music.

  • Copying isn't stealing, nothing is lost in this scenario.

If I could copy a Ferrari and the original was unchanged then fuck yeah I'd copy Ferrari's, I'd copy fucking everything for everyone and we could all have whatever we wanted.

  • @kgt Yea but think this - if you put hell lot of work in something, and you expect to make living from it, and then someone copies it and distributes freely. Sure, you would say that "they are rich, they can survive that". And what if everyone started getting stuff 4 free? Creators would have to resort to something else to make profit, and then they would not be so much interested in making quality stuff.

I don't deny piracy, I do it too. But I hate when ppl get stupid about it.

  • record companies originally existed because making RECORDS was difficult and required work carting around big physical objects. nowadays any retard can find a computer and record a song then distribute it on the internet for free. if u don't suck the money will come: gigs, tshirts, USE UR FUCKIN HEAD.

the only thing record companies do anymore is find shitty artists like kid rock and market them. i'm perfectly capable of deciding what music i like, i don't need the RIAA to tell me thanks.

  • FUCK RIAA.

Spread the word, copy paste the motherfucker.

  • fuck yea kid i stole two toyotas and a tommy hillfinger shirt just today alone!

    you're an inpspiration, bro.

  • Hey, good idea. It's fortunate I take everything literally. Let's make anarchy people!

Jokes aside, I would really love to live in a Venus Project like world, but that's sadly (or luckly?) not possible.

  • He jus wants somone to hear his music.... im sorry.. i wont even download ur music illegally. :]

And i agree. (Why i love shoplifting from big corporations)

  • nobody wants to download kid rock

  • @super7am Really??? He has sold about 30 million albums. He worked his ass off for over 10 years before he got popular. So what have you done with your life?

  • Making copies of 1s & 0s - serious business.

  • Die of AIDS faggot

  • @DrakeIcn you are a douchebag you know that! I hope you choke on your thanksgiving dinner!

  • (cont) feel that recorded music is worthless. If you want to hear any quality music in the future that isn't supported by corporations like Sony and Disney, support the musicians you like by purchasing their music, just like you would paying for a slice of pizza at your fav pizza joint. Wake up piracy people.

  • To see all the comments from people here who think copying music they didn't purchase is not stealing is a sad testament to the under educated youth of today. Recorded music has fixed costs just like any physical product. Studios, engineers, players; people who have dedicated their lives to a craft. The big artists hurt less financially because they can sell themselves out to Pepsi for ads etc, but the mid level artists are hurt the most because of morons that feel that recorded music is worthl

  • I think Kid Rock is being serious about this, thats how he started out.

  • OMG> i have to film a psa for school. Im copying this!

  • haha, fuck em allll!!!!1

  • Do people actually take this faggot seriously? For real, fuck this retarded, untalented cocksucker. Die of AIDS.

  • That is one fucking retarded asshole

  • Next time i steal shit im going to blame it on kid rock for telling me to do it :)

  • Go kid rock

  • i agree with kid rock stealing shit is fun :D

  • Kid Rock might be hilariously untalented and stupid, but here is where we agree.

  • "you wouldn't download a car, shoes, laptops, ipods would you"

fuck you i would if i could

  • @yellowklayman damn straight

  • great advice kid rock, i think i'll do that

  • Is it bad that this genuinely tempts me to steal? I downlaod because it's so rare to justify buying an album for £10 in HMV.

  • fuck yeah, kid rock told me to do it.

  • Who's this guy? Is he for real? :p

  • @Creem16 Kid Rock is pro-file sharing. He was just kidding about the other stuff. Notice how he told us to stay off the drugs after he puffed? :)

  • Normally I don't steal because I'm a Christian. But in the case of Kid Rock's music, I don't steal it, because it sucks.

  • Stealing involves taking a finite resource from someone else, depriving that person of that resource

    Piracy is not stealing

  • thing is that people put a lot less effort into music downloads than making a car or a pair of jeans

  • i only downloaded discontinued albums and unreleased songs

  • Butthurt fag is butthurt

  • ah.. no, i'll stick to downloading. songs are just data that can be grabbed anywhere from a computer. everything else is physical and thus can counted for missing stock, UNLIKE DATA.

  • @KJack1990 Kid Rock is pro-file sharing. He was just kidding about the other stuff. Notice how he told us to stay off the drugs after he puffed? :)

  • @multiverse101 I really fail at sarcasm

  • @KJack1990 I really hate not getting when it's sarcasm :((

  • Download? Fuck you, i'll go to the store and steal the damn CD you shithead wigger. How do you like that?

  • Considering what these companies do privately, (lol Toyota) I see no problem stealing from them. Get a proxy and go get 'em.

  • Will do Kid Rock.

  • Kid Rock, the reason why you have no money is not because people are pirating your music, it's because your music sucks and nobody wants to listen to it.

  • I steal music just not kid rock.

  • the courts ruled that the fee should not be attached because to be a "digital audio recording device" that must be the devices primary purpose...and it' possible on a pc but obviously not its 'primary purpose' therefore the courts ruled that the pc did not fall under the legal definition of a "digital audio recording device" ..so..no fee. thats when the RIAA and MIAA started turning green and busting out of their shirts..all of the sudden the 'sharing' that was ok 20 years ago became illegal

  • Comment removed

  • ya see...in 1996 the courts agreed to attach a small fee to every "digital audio recording device" sold in the world (mp3 players, dvd burners, c.d. burners...etc)and that fee went to the RIAA and MIAA for the sole purpose of reconciling copyright revenue...so when the pc came out, naturally they said ,"where's our fee attached to millions of pc's being sold each day?"...well...(and here's the bottom line)...

  • you're such a redneck idiot..it was no big deal 20 years agow with vcr's right?...no big deal with tape to tape right? even when c.d.'s came out they made 'c.d. duplication' devices for the consumer...but when the internet came out...they said "WHOA!!!!! wait a minute...this didn't work out like we thought it would..we're not gettin any money from these pc's like we are all the other devices"....

  • Kid Rock is a huge faggot

This video is the smoking gun

  • @Kidd724

    So true.

Gawd it's 2010 and we're commenting on a Kid Rock video. Think I'll buy a newspaper...

  • Comment removed

  • Does this moron's shirt say "God Suks"? || I know your music is stupid but you personally are too? sad || They should have gotten a musical artist people actually listen to, to do this since no one steals his crap.

  • it says

    GOD

    GUNS

  • @goatnuts8288 thanks for the clarifying...Kid Rock still sucks but thanks for the help. :)

  • You cannot compare intellectual property to physical property. Physical property has intrinsic value because physical matter cannot be copied. Intellectual property has no value, because information can be easily duplicated. Intellectual property is meaningless in the information age. If you want to protect your information, then the onus is on you to keep your information private in the first place.

  • Ahh a Reductio ad absurdum. Fantastic. I am now convinced.

  • well i see it like this i use to steal music myself . but if u look at it like this no income other then concerts means no cds selling or nothing. well how much time u think it would take to pay every person in the concert how many times would thy preform it would not be worth playing .paying for no new music new

  • artist ,record labels go out off business no new talent talent discovered kool lets go under ground to none signed musicians where the money from your songs not there. with no money no boyfreind or girl not gonna stay with your broke ass

well what if you are new to music sing or raping your first song ppl piracy it wheres your money hell yeah i would be mad u?

  • LOL copyright infringement isn't stealing, it's just copyright infringement. I wouldn't steal a toyota but I would sure as hell make a copy of it if I could.

  • Kid Rock actually makes sense, There's a first time for everything I guess.

  • Okay, Im doing that... and If I get cought, Il just say " kid rock said I could do it" so yeah

  • pirating is fundamentally different than stealing.

  • OKAY KID ROCK

I'LL GO DO IT RIGHT NOW

  • @TwoCows23 yes

  • If I memorize one of your songs (not that I'd bother, douchebag) are you going to sue me for that chunk of my brain?

  • I don't know how serious kid rock is being, but 'stealing' music isn't the same as stealing a car or ipod or whatever. "stealing" music is simply just copying it from a sorce, nobody loses, the music, it's just copied. If you steal something physical like shoes or mp3 player or whatever then whoever it's been stolen from no longer has it.

  • thanks kid rock! I will!

  • he makes a compelling argument for communism, doesn't he?

  • do...do you even know what communism is?

    Read a book.

  • A message to that guy: GTFO, and take your fail with you.

First of all, Piracy isn't stealing. Why?

When you steal, you take something from somebody without that person's consent. YOu are depriving them of whatever they have. On the other hand, with music, you are paying for it(or obtaining the music with some other method) and sharing it with others. You are making copies, not stealing. WHen you pirate music, is there less of that music? no.

Also, guess what. Audacity + Youtube = free music.

  • If you like transcoded music that sounds like shit

  • psh I don't hear a difference.

  • Intellectual property is EXACTLY the same as actual property!

I mean, there's no difference in reproducing something that's infinitely copyable and depriving someone of a singular physical object!

    What a moron.

  • so true. Seriously why didn't they just make something similar to hulu or something and stop bitching about technological change.

  • Spotify?

  • Jeff Foxworthy makes music too?

  • i can't understand a word he's saying with that cock in his mouth...brb, gotta finish my downloads then i'm off to church to worship jeezus fucking christ

  • want some cheese with that WHINE...

  • It figures, coming from a frickin' lawless CANUCK.

  • whatever yankee doodle... call the wambulence.. whine one one...

  • Go smoke dope with your mama, mooselicker.

  • go put in a pinch of chewing tobacco and fuck your sister, redneck

  • lol what a douchebag

  • Yeah, because no one pirates the music of talentless hacks like Kelly Clarkson and Clay Aiken.

If bands are good enough, people will still pay to seem and buy their shit.

Besides, "genuine artists" are more likely to be motivated by their love of music and less by dollar signs.

  • Natural Grace--"genuine artists" are more likely to be motivated by their love of music and less by dollar signs."

Thats BULLSHIT. People who love their music deserve to get paid and compensated for it to--your comment there is nothing more than the bullshit feel-good excuse that people who steal music use to make themselves feel better about their theft!

  • The real world doesn't work that way. Just because you make music you love doesn't mean you deserve compensation. No matter how much you love your music, you can't get paid unless people buy it.

Nobody wants to buy music anymore. And since piracy ain't going away, its time for a new business model.

    - from a musician who don't care bout dollar signs

  • A good chunk of money comes from concerts. You can't illegally download a concert, or at least the experience of being at one. And a lot of people go to them.

  • but we already do steal all of those things

  • that is 1 smart man ;P

  • 15-20 You know, the kids are right saying you can illegaly download my music you know, cuz i uh um i've done very...i'm fuckin RICH!

  • Haha, did you make that or did you illegally download it from Frostwire? ;-), haha jm, good video.

  • If I get caught, I will blame it all on Kid Rock.

    (First comment)

  • lol yeah. me too

  • Lol, you'd probably still get in trouble. :p

  • bettcha he'd care then. lol
