I was filming a documentary in the Philippines during the eruption of the Mount Pinatubo in 1991. I remember espesially one morning when traveling by jeep to the area. We pulled over to the side of the road and my colleague pointed to the sky and shouted "look!". When I did it looked as if somebody had detonated an atomic bomd a few miles away! A horrific but beautiful ash cloud, covering the sun. I didn't have my video camera near by(!) but I did get a few shots with my still camera! Memories..

This has to be the second most scariest moment of my life. I was 7 years old living in a nearby town called Floridablanca Pampanga (only a few Kilometres from Mount Pinatubo). I recall the sky turned dark though it was 10 in the morning. It was like 12 in the midnight. The land was jumping moving up and down (not sideways). It was raining rocks, stones, pebbles, ash anything the volcano can throw out of its crater. I can hear shouting, crying, panic in the streets.

as far as i can recall, we were staying in manila and the dusts covered the metro during those times they said that we will not be affected by its lava and we never adviced to evacuate but for me it was really scary because visibility was affected as if it was like typhoon wherein floods were everywhere and it made us sunk to its dirty water

I was there for the eruption. Ive never seen anything so scary in my life. We had to evacuate to Subic and i put my wife and eight month old daughter on a ship. My wife and eight month old daughter left on a navy ship and i left a few days later. I never got the chance to say goodbye to many friends and family left behind. I really loved the P.I. They are some the best people i have ever met. always smiling no matter what. I'd really like to go back someday.
