I've been trying to find this song for many years. Now that I did, your work is just great! It has special memoires for me. Thanks for letting them live on!!!
In the late 80's I had a boyfriend who said that song made him think of me. I wasn't sure how to take that. But it still makes me feel good after all these years
Great ode to New Orleans. New Orleans, I miss you and I will be back soon to swim in your streets. I miss your smell, voice and taste. I can hardly wait to feel your love as I sit at your cafés and read your current stories in the picayune. New Orleans my love, I will be with you soon.-
This video is exceptionally beautiful! And especially today, since its the 6th year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina! I'm so blessed to have returned home and be here on this day! Rebuild. Rebirth. New Orleans!!!
@espadacapt2805 This is one of the GREATEST Tunes Of ALL TIME. We used to play this with Home Sweet Home - Motley Crue , together and it was AWESOME. Just a LIL advice from an Old Rocker.
@espadacapt2805 Not all 'Yankees' are stupid, I'm from Chicago and this song has been a favorite of mine for a long time!! I still have the LP. I think the two that disliked have no soul or are deaf.
My Daughter is 14 and likes to have me play songs till she falls asleep, while I am on my laptop. This is always her first request. It's so Awesome because I grew up on this song and music like it. I was Born&raised and am raising my kids to in Louisiana. My daughter luvs this song so much. She telling me now as she's going to sleep," Mom now play the french version!" If you haven't heard the beautiful french version by Wayne Toups you should give it a listen too,it's just as beautiful.<3 U Angela
i first heard n.o. ladies in a small bar. why i loved it like i did is beyond me, but i made many a trip to that little bar just to hear it again. it got to the point that when the band saw me coming they began to play n. o. ladies.memories...memories...memories.
We love nola! The pic of the lucky dog vendor brought back great memories! We took my parents down for vac. stayed at the Sonesta on Bourbon. Had the great big balcony. There was a bucket to lower for the lucky dog vendor to send up dogs and retrieve money. Well my daddy wanted one. The vendor was lit, his cooker was not. Daddy couldn't understand all the fuss about the hot dogs. His was not cooked. It was a hoot!!
agree no place in the world like New Orleans .. once she gets in your soul your hers forever... first went there when I was 9... lived there twice since it will always be my home no place else in the world like it
What a great song! I first heard it at NIGHTTOWN in Destin, FL when LeRoux played there...such a packed house it was seriously like sardines can! This was in the 70's.
I remember being a party girl on the bus with the band but that's about it for the memory part...LOL. Your slideshow with this song makes it really special....Thanks. Good Job!!
Very well done. Great photos, showing all sides of New Orleans, and this song is the best. I know what it's like to miss New Orleans. Long live N'awlins!
I miss this town so much, sadly not enough to move back. However, I am really looking forward to visiting my home town soon. Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mardi Gras is right around the way. Can't wait.....

I haven't heard this song in ages. I remember it very well when it was a hit and was popular for a while and was played a lot on the radio stations in the South in about 1978-79.
P.S. A huge, huge thank you to you, rocknrollova. Your poignant images really bring this song to life. Your mother would be so proud at how you have honoured her.
You have done more than just your mother proud with this one, my friend!
Kudos on a professional job of conjuring up lots of emotions for those of us who grew up in the area when this song was "the song". Wonderful. Thank you.
