  • My name is Tara...

    close enough, right?

  • This song was on the radio when my neighbors house moved, I will never forget that day.

  • I love how this song was the only song playing through my mind the night my grandma passed away in the hospital. Everything that night fit this song exactly. The way my family sat quietly "bracing for bad news" and even the tv ironically "entertained itself." But what hits me most is how I held her hand when she died, and how it fits perfectly with "so who's gonna watch you die?" Beautiful, but a heart breaking song. Ah I love death cab <3

  • my names sarah . &' the boy who always said i was his only sarah , lost me to cheating .

im only original , is that so bad ? :/

  • I am a Sarah!!,

Thank you Death Cab, for reminding me that good music still exists

  • All I ever wanted was truth...not lies to cover my feeliings...well guess what...it didn't work

  • My neighbor has a tumor. She basically grew up in our house. She's only 21, and her name is Sarah. This is seriously freaking me out :(

  • If I ever end up offing myself I'm doing it to this song.

  • oh....oh Sherlock....

  • RIP Sarah Burke

  • now that Zooey left him there should be more of this hallow, caustic emptiness to come. I'm excited.

  • @setiroculus It is that morbid interest we hold, like the vultures circling, not even hungry. They just want to watch. Honestly, I am too now that I know this.

  • I wish DCFC were still this good :(

  • look, I'll admit the only reason I clicked on this was because my name is Sarah and I like Death Cab. But now I LOVE them. They bring new meaning to love and hurt and it's something that is changing my life.

  • poop.

  • might use this song for a book report. so beautiful <3

  • My name is Sara, I don't spell my name with an ''h 'because I'm from Sweden. But i thought this song was beautiful and we all have someone who's that special for us.

  • UMA DAS MUSICAS MAIS LINDAS QUE JA VI NA MINHA VIDA... AVÁ , QUE MUSICA PERFEITA MALUCO ,

  • beautiful then anyone in this world could imagine by itself, the simple little moments that no one remembers that make up a lifetime..that's what love is.

  • or someone from there family. no matter how far away they are or may seem someone is always thinking about you and watching over you, and when you pass someone will miss you and think of you, always. love isn't just watching someone die love is all the moments that make watching that person pass mean something, the words they shared, the nights spent together, or apart, the millions of thoughts racing through there head streaming like a movie screen projecting through the world to something more

  • as beautiful as this song is, and trust me it is, I feel like it's wrong in a sense...or well..right in every way except one. there always is one person that changes everyone's life..that makes it all worth it, that makes you look back and reassess things. and yes there is no love in a hospital, the worst of news is the everyday there unfortunately and memories are all we have to stitch seams together and move on..but no one dies alone, no one. everyone has someone whether it's a lover, friend,

  • my sarah's not dead, buut she's 3546578543 miles away </3.

  • This song breaks me ever time.

  • This song is one of the reasons why I do my best to love everyone. It reminded me of the Latin phrase "memento mori" or in English, "Remember that you are a mortal.". In the end, all of us, will die. Your family, your friends, everyone. So in the end, when you're dead, what will people remember you for? In the end, I realized that while I'm still alive, while I'm still here, the best way to live is to love. A person who loves, that's what I want to be remembered for, just like Sarah.

  • My name is Sarah but that isnt really the point. This song is absolutely beautiful and even though I haven't lost anyone important to me in a tragic way like this I still get emotional over this song. I love it because it actually is trying to say something, unlike all of the stupid pop songs theese days.

  • my name is Zaira :) its close enough lol

  • That's What She Said.

  • I wish I could tell somebody that I love him, and all the beautiful things you could say to that one person alone. Who's gonna watch me die? Nobody. I've never been inlove. I've never had any interest in other people but I hate loneliness. It's one of the greatest sadness in this world- No one's gonna watch you die, and you're gonna die alone. Im so sorry for saying my feelings here... it's just... this song...

  • @technicallyhuman don't ever apologize for expressing your feeling's dear, it's only human and it shows how open you are and how much this song has effected you. and just because you've never been in love yet doesn't mean you never will be theres someone out there for everyone, even if you don't believe me yet one day you will. you wont be lonely your entire life I promise you this, no one dies alone, even if they are not romantically with someone they always hold someone close

  • This song better be played at my funeral

  • BEAUTIFUL. my Sarah lives !300 miles away </3

  • when i was in the trauma unit alone after a horrible motorcycle wreck this song came to mind, still puts me to tears thinking about the last verse...

  • when you have the snow flake mode on it makes it seem more bootiful

  • i love this song. my name ISN'T sarah. but i love it

  • Beautiful song.

  • I bought this album on release, and used to listen to this song on repeat. Only now did I notice that the fadeout resembles a flatline tone.

  • After listening to this song, I'm actually starting to like my name....Sarah.

  • Someone out there should confirm that this song is similar to Francis Dunnery's Good Life. I can't figure out why, but if you agree let me know.

  • I sometimes wonder how they sang this live. If I were them, I'd be curled up on the stage and bawling by the second verse...

  • We all have a Sarah. We all have that one person we'd rather spend time with than anyone in the world. We all have someone we love more than anything else, and would do anything, even die for. Here's to all the Sarah's... and how they give and take away.

  • @TheFoShoBros what do you mean give and take away?

  • @TheFoShoBros

"The FoShowbros..., I dream of the day when medical science will allow me to be shrunk into a microscopic size, and injected into your spinal fluid. Once there, I will travel in a miniature sub, through your body, and into your brain meat. Then I will take a pill that will allow me to grow into a normal size, exploding your skull bone, and rendering your body into a pink mist."

  • @Ilovetovolunteer Damn I have to thumbs that up for creativity alone, I don't even know what the hell you where arguing about.

  • @UnDeadTroll47 spongebob squarepants quote.

  • @Ilovetovolunteer Creative.

  • @TheFoShoBros

    I miss my Sarah.

  • My daughters name is Sara without the h

  • thumbs up if you love this song ;) and if your name is Sarah!

  • this song reminds me how impossibly empty loneliness feels

    call me emo, idgaf

  • @goku7940 It's funny, I'm always alone but never lonely. The only time I've ever felt the emptiness you described was the entire year after I wasn't alone for the first time. Just goes to show how everything is relative.

  • 16 people dont even deserve to be hooked up to an LCD monitor.

  • this is honestly my favorite song

  • but my name is sarah and nobody cares! D:

  • @gunnerunner1 I care!

  • okay okay this song is good we get it! xD

  • Love is watching someone die

  • ''In a place where we only say goodbye

It stung like a violent wind that our memories depend

On a faulty camera in our minds''

    So very very true.

  • Cause there's no comfort in the waiting room

Just nervous pacers bracing for bad news

And then the nurse comes round and everyone lift their heads

But Im thinking of what Sarah said..... My favorite part of this beautifully written song, that holds a special place in my heart :)

  • I miss bands like this :(

  • lol nobody comments do they xD

  • MY NAME IS SARAH!!!!!!!!! YOU'VE MET ME!

  • 'and it came to me then that every plan is a tiny prayer to Father Time'

So beautiful, so sad, and so true.

  • It's the most emotional touching song I've ever heard. I can closely imagine the face of the writer of this lyrics, when he was about to loose Sarah. Sarah stands for the one great love in a humans life, doesn't she? I didn't meet this person yet, but to know that you will never see her face again, for example, it would kill me, I guess. Her death would kill my heart. This is music, guys. Real touching and deep music.

  • It's so awkward when Sarah is your name. & sarah is my name.

  • @SsaeRah cool story sarah

  • really strong words, in special for me, who have the girl I love in the ICU for 2 months. Hope this song doesn't start to be the story of my life.

  • "Love is watching someone die"

I get chills every time I hear that line.

  • This song always makes me cry, just because it's so beautiful!

One of the few songs that still have a real meaning this days. x

    x

  • Plans: Most underrated album ever!

  • i rationed my breaths as i said to myself that i'd already taken to much today this was the last post of a dear friend of mine before she was killed in a fatal crash i cant tell you the impact this song now has on me :''''(

  • i love this song, it's a sad but i love it

  • 13 people dont have anyone to watch them die.

    How sad..

  • That line still gets to me each and every time and puts a lump in my throat..."As each descending peak on the LCD took you a little farther away from me".

  • @jjp009 Same here. There's just something about that line.

  • i fucking love this song! :)

  • ♡!

  • "Forever only lasts as long as you want it to, but it doesn't wait up for you."

  • I heard this song only a few weeks ago for the first time. I´m still speechless.

    It´s brilliant.

  • Dcfc is the perfect band to listen to when feeling depressed..

  • Shite.

  • 13 people never listened to Sarah.

  • 13 people never met Sarah.

  • such a good song...

  • my name is sarah :)

  • The singer sounds like the singer from The Postal Service. Is it the same guy?

  • @AwesomeArt099

    yeah it is.

  • @AwesomeArt099 no its one of the beatles.

  • @MagicWhizzBangs

    Your sarcasm isn't really clever.

  • @AwesomeArt099 yeah they postal service and dcfc have the same singer.

  • Plans was such a good CD, so many good songs on it

  • i dont see a dislike bar, do you? thats because this song doesnt deserve to be disliked. its touches every person who hears it and there is no real reason to dislike it

  • you've guys got stories... true or fake they still make you think.... but i came here to enjoy the song... not be even more depressed

  • Such a beautiful song. So in love with this band.

  • Listening to this type of music makes me emotional. Listening to this song while reading top comments makes an open bag of feelings.

  • "as each descending peak on the lcd took you a little farther away from me"

**** does anyone else find that line just so damn emotional and poetic? *****

  • @chuppachoppa ....there is not a single part of these lyrics that isn't damn poetic.

  • This song reminds me of a friend of mine who died of leukemia last April. It was her 3rd time fighting it, and she passed away at 18. Never forget <3

  • the piano in the intro sounds a lot like the final fantasy theme

  • i wish i could "like" these videos one thousand times just so it'd get higher ratings and more people would see it instead of dumb stuff like katy perry, justin bieber, and lady gaga. :P

  • i luv u death cab <3

  • a few years ago when i first heard this song, i never would have guessed it would be the exact story of my recent life word for word.

  • AND IT CAMEEE TO ME THEN, THAT EVERYYYY PLAN, IS LIKE A TINY PRAYER TO FATHER TIMEEEEE - sooooooo good.

  • Comment removed

  • Sad song, but drums at 3:23 to the end... speechless.

  • Death Cab fails to disappoint me :) GOOOO BEN! <333

  • i really fucking miss my grandma

  • A week and two days.....a week and two days ago since i came home and ripped my baby brothers lifeless body from his Jeep. I can't even put how i feel into words, but if anything was to get close to explaining it, it would be music. Death Cab gets closer than the rest.

  • I lost everybody. I lost everything. And it's just gone. I can never feel what I once had again.

  • This song.. It's describing how precious life is. How one day you have the person you love sitting right next to you, In your arms, and then.. They're in the hospital.. Slowly dying.. Leaving you, Forever. Take as much time as you can to be with the person you love.. Because, You never know when they can just leave..

  • Oh Death Cab for Cutie :') This is just amazing <3

  • Love is listening to this song ;P

  • me too haha:)

  • Makes me cry every goddamn time. ;__;

  • i love how sweetly melancholy this band is

  • This song means the world to me, truly. So much shit I've been through and this song has been there no matter what with the same words every time that helps me get through it all.

    "Love is watching someone die".

Basically the most poetic words in a song to me... that's saying a lot.

Those words will be on my body for the rest of my life, I'm going in October to get it done.

    I couldn't be more excited.

  • @illusionx23 i just got that on my upper forearm 4 days ago with a falling sparrow to represent the meaning of the words. :]

  • @illusionx23 so true, i love those words it is so poetic. it has alot of meaning in my life and as i sat here and listened to the song it made a huge impact. i had a gf once that had some issues and i tried so hard to help her everyday for years but in the end she passed. that was love

  • im suddenly a little worried that I really don't have any idea who's going to watch me die

  • Why does everyone we love die? And why are we just left here to reason and figure things out?

here's the thing: We CAN'T crack the code...the code of conduct after someone close dies. What do we do? How are we SUPPOSED to feel, react, say?

Because how can we imagine living without that person? But when you love life..that's all you can do.

Moving along is not moving on.

I'd say, "Don't cry, it's okay" but we need to cry.

So cry as much as you need or want to. It can only help you figure it out.

  • when i watched my brother die in the ICU all i could think of was this song... i love this band

  • "...A good man once said, death smiles upon us all, all we can do is smile back..."

  • @robbelliii i love the gladiator. beautiful movie :)

  • @robbelliii I don't know why but this comment made my eyes water up. I guess it was a mixture between the truth of it, and the realization that we will all die one day. It gave off a positive vibe though.

  • @robbelliii Someone I know died yesterday.

    I'm terrified of death.

And I couldn't help but remember your comment.

  • @hippiegirlsmile dont be terrified. You had been in non existence for billions of years and were just fine, returning wont be a big deal. Besides, without death life would lose all meaning and value

  • @KCkoolaidking What a realization. I'm sure this place will feel more familiar than life then.

  • @robbelliii so true

  • @robbelliii It's a beautiful quote that this song helps to convey in such an amazing way. It gives me chills to think of the hidden truth within the quote and within this song :) I hope to love and be loved like that. To be strong enough for the one I love, that I'll endure the time of pain when I need to hold their hand to say goodbye one last time and I'd be willing to do it all because I love them...

  • Would it be best to live forever in pain or die and leave everyone behind? And if we do leave could we say bye or stand to the side and watch as life moves on and we yell in silence to whoever can listen? Would we try to console the weeping as much as we can yet fail every damn time? Death is all around us but we can seem to see it. We can only catch the bits and pieces of whats left of them if we look closely. Yet with each passing year we lose it. Only the ones with dead close ones still see

  • im 16 and i feel the need to be like everyone else just like any other teenager feels. but listing to this music helps me realize that i am different. i like different things and i act different than everyone else cus were all different and thats a good thing. death cab for cutie opens my mind every time.

  • I wanna play this on the piano and sing it to a girl...I wish I was talented :(

  • @ItsBonzo I get the same feeling every freaking day

  • @ItsBonzo I would wish I was that girl. (:

  • I've watched friends and family die, but never sat there and saw them pass. I remember the phone calls, the waiting, and the fear of hearing "she's gone." I've never known what to say when you hear that... what's a good response? What do you say that makes it ok for you, for the person telling you, for the person who died... what? I wish I knew.

  • @loodwig it just makes us all go insane. We all vanish and die. And we're only human. So we're gone.

Just the thought of it makes me so depressed. This song makes me feel the anger and twisted pain that this guy must've felt in the song.

Makes me feel like the whole world is wrong.

  • @pixiepall234 Your comment made not like this song anymore

  • @DimHereafter LOL!

  • I'm pretty sure none of these goddamn life stories are real.

  • This song makes me cry as I think of family members who have died in such a situation.

  • just got introduced to this group and i have to say they are amazing ive never listened to music like this

  • @madamceciia1279

    Welcome to the club. :)

They are very amazing, I wish I could hear them for the first time again. You're very lucky.

  • My mom is slowly dying. And I am stuck in a foster home in a different provence. I rarely get to see her.. If I'm lucky once a year. I don't even know what her favorite color is. So, who is going to be there to watch my mother die? To hold her frail pale hands? I love you mom, and I wish for your freedom from your mind everyday.

  • indie means independent. its a classificatin that means they dont fit any other class. so yeah.. they are indie

  • I'd love to learn to play this on piano but I'd bum myself out... :\ I'll stick to listening...

  • it might not be exactly the same but for the way i would classify this for me is What Misa said

  • my best friend jimmy was diagnosed with leukemia about a year ago. he got worse and worse and kept getting sicker as time went on, and a few months back he killed himself because he'd rather die at his own home in his own bed comfortable rather than to die in a hospital bed frail and immobile. he sent me the link to this song the morning of the day he committed suicide. although he knew that even if he died of disease, i'd be by his side the whole way through. love is a crazy thing.

  • @TheMustacheBandits reading this made me cry my eyes out

  • @TheMustacheBandits This seriously made me cry...

  • @TheMustacheBandits

    That made me cry.

  • @TheMustacheBandits That's the saddest thing I have ever heard, I'm sorry for your loss.

  • @TheMustacheBandits *wraps you up in a big hug*
