I think souness has a point. I love the players of Liverpool, but switching out players every match and subbing so much isn't really necessary. They are proffesionally conditioned, and the mental bit of it should be with them if they are going to win.

Nowadays players play many more matches per season than they used to. Now the best team is not the one with the best eleven, it is the one where you change a player and the team still delivers at the same standard. I am Valencia fan myself, go to Mestalla every weekend, and saw with my eyes what Rafa produced. It didn't matter who was on the pitch, that Valencia became virtually unstoppable regardless who was playing. Shame we lost Rafa when preparing the assault on the Champions League... Rgds

Cheers for the translation. If I was there, I would've asked Souness - When was the last time Rafa rested Gerrard, Carra, Reina, Masch or Torres for a league game? Those are our best players (Agger would be in that list if not injured at present) and he has played them more or less every game, maybe restng one or two for easier games ahead of harder games coming up (as he did v Newcastle, resting Kuyt and Babel)

Torres has started 22 of 28 games in the league (a further 3 as sub - so involved in all but 3 games). Ronaldo has started 22 (a further 2 as sub), Rooney 17. Both Ronaldo and Rooney are rested by Ferguson.

Of the games Torres has not played in only 1 or 2 were due to being "rested" and these were very early in the season. He has played almost constantly since, apart from games he has missed because of injury.

I think this was done a few months ago wen he rested Torres a couple of times. Remember he came off the bench against Fulham and scored after that Rafa said he wudent rest him again. I think Souness is right the amount of rotation Rafa does is not good for the team.
