  • Hi have you won any gold medals or tournaments wins in table tennis sir?

  • GREAT VID

  • @PathfinderPro. If these videos are not for people then i wonder who these are for? to yourself?

  • @jayaramannstube I said these videos were short - four processes in approx 6 mins isn't long. They are about thought processes, hence talk and not masseds of action and that we weren't going to cut them shorter simply to make them even shorter. You don't say what is unnecessary, you don't say what's not clear nor what's not simple. That would help me understand your point of view and bear it in mind for future videos.

  • too long lecture and talks unnecessary things... make it clear, short and simple.

  • 0:42 epic

  • Thanks for the video but .... could you by any chance stress on the practice instead of talking 99% of the lesson. And I say that for all your videos not just this one ( i know this one is supposed to be mostly talking )

  • i love it

  • great

  • the wrist movements, the shoulder movements.. NOO

  • .... NOOOOOOOOOO this is a video about thought processes before you actually serve not how to physically serve otherwise it would look not just at wrist movements and shoulder movements but also knee bend, pivoting at the hips, stance, throw height and many other factors.

  • man he sucks .... what about sidespin? and no one uses topspin at serves because they can attack the ball

  • How many times do we have to say that these videos are about thought processes. Chosing spin is one element and at 1:47 in to the video we clearly say "these are the basic types of spin you could use to serve". Emphasis on basic. As for not serving topspin - well you can attack just about any type of serve if you read what spin is on it and you are good enough. And people do use topspin effectively either alone or in conjunction with other spins.

  • Thank You, PathfinderPro. I've got a question: are these lessons available on DVD's?

  • Hi ImOrcio, no they are not available on DVD. I think I still have the native avi versions (before compressing for YouTube) and could author them to DVD but the intention was only ever to really post them on YouTube. I'll send you a message with more details which may help you though.

  • you are right , i am sorry but i still think he isnt so good :D

  • michael maze use topspin serves idiot

  • what is this topspin serve? do you use counterhit for serve?

  • none of you have a career in ping pong

  • Actually Jim Clegg has. He still works occasionally for the English Table Tennis Association running courses for training coaches and other things.

  • dude... this is awfully boring.. he never touched the mother****** ball and i already know that i need a good effect on my serve -.-

  • you brainless amateur - he's not talking here for you.

@Jim, thanks a lot for all your videos!

  • that's why people like you don't go anywhere in their game.

  • he's focus on the mental aspect, in terms of your thought process, it's NOT so much about demonstration.

  • he's the one that's talking but I'm the one losing my breath..o.O'

  • well what that do not tell you is that thos are

serves that will set you up for a loop drive

but what about defence players like myself

that need to flick block and chop and smash

that is why im saying this will not help you unless

    you like looping

    max long:rate 1908

  • watch all four videos in this series poopidpoopid.. If you do that you will see part 2 deals with the importance of "length of serve" in restricting the type of return your opponent can make. There are 9 points covered - only four are in this first video.

  • this is the best lessons i ever had in learning about Table tennis.

    Thank you.

  • see 1:57 minute, the opponent is awesome!!, amazing whit his hairband ;). very useful lessons and instructions

  • you talk a lot

  • very intelligent instructions

loads of table tennis videos out there

BUT many forget to mention common sense, and only focus on technique

    ***** five stars

  • i wish, i had a table tennis table.

    i play at school -.-

  • is he russian?

  • No Jim is English and does a lot of work for the English Table Tennis Association.

  • oke thx:)

  • lol dat style are oldddddddddddd

    look at the chinese!!

  • virusstone these videos are not about a style of play. They are about what Jim thinks a player should have considered before they serve eg what spin should I use, where on the table should I serve to, what length, what do I want to achieve with my serve etc. After you've considered these types of things you can chose a type of serve to suit your own style be it european, asian defensive etc etc.

  • thanks for great videos, you should make a dvd. I couldnt find one on forehands. very informative i'm going to try these things down my leisure centre and hopefully will beat my mate who is better than me.

  • Thanks gregstar1986. Good luck against your mate. We haven't done any forehand videos but you might want to check out pingskills channel on YouTube. I know they have and they have a good reputation too.

  • i cant understand but thanks :)

  • nice v good, ty

  • very interesting ---thx.
