@slipknotmeep I think it's 6/8, even though you're right that 3/4 and 6/8 are the same thing just counted differently. I hear the down beat every 6 beats, not three, which leads me to believe it's 6/8. Songs in 3/4 or 6/8 with this tempo tend to be 6/8. But, it really doesn't matter too much, this song is great
Awww man, this dude is just so epic in every way... I feel ashamed of myself for sucking sooo bad, hopefully I can compose music as beautiful as this and share it the world before I take the 11:59...
@LoftNuthouse i dunno if singing with that old style vibrato necessarily means any parallel with beirut. the dodos rhythmic shtick sets em pretty far off apart in their own tradition, i love both bands but I'd certainly say the dodos work in a more experimental vein
I can't really see any connection between Beirut and The Dodos. Don't get me wrong, they are both two of my favorite bands. But Beirut carries a very distinct Folkish East-European sound while the dodo's maintain sounds that parallel something that I would imagine coming from the streets of modern San Francisco, a friendlier, quainter folk sound as opposed to the wordly sounds of Beirut.
saws them last night at the el rey theeatre in los angeles and they killed it! this song was a highlight for sure their new stuff sounds amazing live as well
I would so love to make music with thee guys. They seem so creative. I rarely find other creative people to play with.. just idiots who want to do what everyone else is doing.
@bailily I'm pretty sure this technique was taken from a band called Sigur Ros, which may have very well been taken by another band too.. so beautiful sounding!
I try the vibraBow thing.. its so cool

Just to clarify everyone...
3/4 and 6/8 are almost the exact same thing...
Same feel.
Just counted differently ( 6/8 twice as fast as 3/4 ).
Almost no difference.
And yes, it's in 3/4 ( or 6/8 ), not 4/4 ( or, what have you... 8/8, to compare the 3/4 and 6/8 idea. )
