Couple things you might try: use smaller particles and shorten their lifetimes. Use masks so that the flames appear to be coming from places on the car - through the gaps in the grill for instance.

The explosion is excellent, but the fire needs a bit more work. A tip, when an explosion is created, shake the camera, it'll be a little more realistic
